    welcome drink

I had specifically chosen the hotel because of the possibility to enjoy a pre-paid meal at the highly rated restaurant. To my astonishment, I learned upon arrival that this offer was not available and I was sent to a neighbouring restaurant for a medium-quality meal in a noisy environment.

Proximity to the Railway Station. Close to the Old Town. Nice, large corner room. Nice breakfast.

Wi Fi was not free! Considerably more expensive than comparable hotels in other major Swiss cities.

Excellent location opposite the station. Lovely buffet breakfast in elegant restaurant. Comfortable room though bathroom a little cramped.

No free wifi. Most people use smart phones, tablets, laptops when travelling and reliable wifi is very important. The cost to the hotel is relatively little - if necessary add it to the room rate but don't expect guests to pay extra on arrival. In future I will not stay in hotels which don't provide FREE wifi unless there is no other choice.

Unexpectedly superb restaurant. Hotel/Rest staff I felt were exceptional for a mid-range hotel near a train/bus station. Also St. Gallen people are more amiable than other larger Swiss cities.

Proximity to train station both good and bad. But thick windows filtered out most sounds.

    Restaurant is excellent!!

Due to the close proximity to the train and bus station it was very noisy.

The flexibility of the staff, even we were late for few minutes on the breakfast time we were still can have a short breakfast.

    The bathroom is too small.

First trip to Europe. Difficult to compare to us hotels. It was nice, clean and had big windows.

Smallish room, but nice. A little difficult to regulate room temperature. Steam heat or open window. Basically 2 twin beds shoved together with "no sleep" zone in the middle. Only had smallish wardrobe for clothes storage and it took up a chunk of the already small room.

It couldn't be any closer to the train station.

    1) When I arrived the main door was shut and there were no signs of a way in. I walked all round the block with my heavy bags until someone pointed me the way to reception through the bar. The receptionist, when he arrived, frankly didn't look like he gave a damn about anything. A Chinese student who came in after me was dealt with very poorly by him, he hardly made any effort to help the student in any way. Not impressed at all. 2) The room and the bed were so tiny I hardly fit. Likewise the lift, which I could hardly get into with my luggage. 3) Very noisy until all the buses and revellers stopped at about 12.30am. 4) The poky little fan that passed for an aircon unit was pathetic and, considering the room was like a sauna, this was very uncomfortable. Opening the windows let a little air in, along with the noise (see point 3 above) 4) Not a good hotel for a business trip. Try the Valhalla nearby. It's a bit more expensive but worth every penny.
