Talca's got a very different vibe to other cities in the area. It's a great base for visiting Altos de Lircay National Park, and if you get the first bus there and the last bus back you can do the Enladrillado hike which is spectacular!

In my mind, Talca itself is not an interesting city at all.
In my mind, Talca itself is not an interesting city at all. However, it's a very good stepping point from which to visit Vilches, a village in the magnificent Andes mountains, and wineries in the Maule river valley.

The breakfasts were plentiful with plenty of choice, also breakfast boxes for the early morning trips out were available. Dinner was fun, eating 'en-famile'. The menu was vegetarian and really delicious (we are meat eaters but loved the veggie food). Franz arranges amazing trekking trips and is a font of knowledge. About 5 miles from the centre of Talca and very straightforward by taxi or uber.

Even for Chilean standards Pia and Kay are the nicest people you will meet. They were super helpful in everything we needed and made us feel totally at home. They were super flexible and even helps us clean our tent in the garden. Could not wish for anything better!

Staff was very friendly and the location was great, many places to go near the hotel. There was also a little park in front with activities when we were there. Totally recommended.

Hostel Casa Azul was a little off the main plaza and we were given a large room and access to the kitchen ( no other guests were there). Close to Diagonal Street with restaurants and even a trendy cerveceria.
