Though it was my first time for me, we were in Gießen for a yearly festival. We did some driving around in Gießen. The city is very attractive with beautiful shops, clean streets and very friendly people. Gießen is small but very neat and easy to get around city.

Gießen is what it is, we have family there, so it was great to visit. not much else to see if you are wanting or looking for a true German experience although not far away are some very worthwhile sights, particularly Marburg. Dinner at Badeburg is a special treat, highly recommended. The old castle walls provide real atmosphere. Gießen itself s a bit sterile. Schwannenteich is nice but overall, i can't imagine it as a city on any tourists agenda, unless you had a reason to visit.

I used public transport to go to and from the hotel and the bus stop was just a 2 minute walk away . The room, in fact the whole hotel, was clean, tidy and warm. The bathroom was clean and the shower was hot and powerful. The breakfast had good choice and the staff were helpful and friendly.
