This innovatively designed hotel is very well located for exploring all of the main sights of the city on foot. The property is close to the river in the old part of central Bilbao.
Score from 737 reviews Very good
funky/modern look walkable to all amenities/restaurants/museums/shops
tricky/expensive parking no twin rooms
Room design is so cool. Place is well located in the heart of Bilbao.
A bit noisy but just a litlle bit.
Great location in the heart of the old town. Chic décor. Need to be quite self sufficient to stay here as reception not manned all the time.
Our room was over a noisy street, despite asking for a quiet room. Bed was extremely hard.
The design of the hotel and location were second to none.
Noisy location but that worked for us.
The Basque Boutique was designed in a very special way, based on the characteristics of the Basque culture and history. Room was spacious, clean and quiet. Including a nice bathroom and air-conditioning.
I would suggest to have a coffee and tea counter in the commune area additional to the mineral water.
Friendly staff really quirky modern decor excellent location had great 2 days would recommend to anyone.
As usual in lots of Spanish hotels no tea making facilities but surrounded by great cafes and restaurants
The Pension is ideally situated in the old town with it's bars and restaurants.
Very good location and well designed. Different type.
If you travel by car it is impossible to park it. By the way there is no reception, they put the keys on the table in the entrance l mean self service.
Nice Location Fun Design
1. Hotel Washer / Dryer adjacent in next room making noise early in morning and in evening. Shakes floor. 2. Wifi goes off at night. 3. No shampoo in shower just hospital style soap dispenser. 4. Front desk doesn't address issues just gives excuses.
It was very noisy. The 'reception' could be heard word by word. The second night someone stayed in the hall for 1,5 hours making noise. The noise was made inside and not from the street.
Stayed during festival week - VERY NOISY. Would have been nice to be able to make a tea/coffee in the morning. Have found much better value for money in Spain.
Bit small space
The location was fantastic! Right in the middle of the Casco Viejo, next to the cathedral, and near lots of lively bars and restaurants. Despite the central location, however, noise was not a problem. Our room was very quiet. The theme rooms were also fun... Gernika may not be the best choice for a romantic getaway, though.
There was no reception when we checked in... if you can call it that. After repeatedly ringing the bell, finally someone answered and told us the access code to the front door. This person had mysteriously disappeared by the time we reached the floor the hotel was on. All that was waiting for us was an empty desk covered in post-its with guest names and their corresponding keys. I think we saw an actual employee a total of twice. The room was nice, but the finishes in did not seem to warrant their original price. As we got a great deal on out booking, it wasn't a problem for us, but we kept commenting that we wouldn't have expected it to cost as much as it did without the discount.
The old town is really alive and is the place to feel Bilbao
Other than the good wifi, Expect no extras (no car-parking in the vicinity, no baby crib, breakfast option)
Very comfortable room, wifi was good and the staff helpful and friendly. Will use them again when in Bilbao.
Good location in the old town, nice atmosphere, decoration, good bed
No breakfast available, noise from the street in the evening and night
Very nice location, and a very delicious design
The balcony was only a "french balcony" We thougt ir was a real balcaony where we could sit outside. That was disapointing. We also missed a sign. It was a bir hard to find. Other than that - it was perfect
Very unique hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. Very good location in the heart of the old town. Would highly recommend it to anyone
Location location location, we arrived with a car had no problems with parking after guidance from the helpful staff. Would come back again.
Be aware that you need to carry your luggage up stairs - no problem
The location was excellent, in the old town and close to restaurants and bars (not not so close as to be noisy at night). The staff gave us excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants.
We were in the Guernica room, and the furnishings and decorations were too big for the room. When we first walked in, visually it was brilliant, but as we began to use the room we found the chairs very uncomfortable, the bed has a tiled base which extended beyond the mattress and we found ourselves hitting our shins on the hard tiles. Generally the scale of the decorations were too big for the room. We enjoyed our stay, and would most likely use the Basque Boutique if we return to Bilbao, but would request a different room. We also had to wait around to check out, as although we had paid everything beforehand, we wished to store our luggage for a few hours. It took a little time for anybody to arrive after we rang them - it took two calls.
Fantastic location!! Quirky hotel with interesting rooms. Our room was a bit small but very clean.
Basque Boutique was like an Aladdin's cave of a boutique hotel - a holiday in itself. the staff are very proactive eg welcoming telephone call before I arrived that I really appreciated thank you
the location, the interior and the organisation
The location was wonderful and the room charming
Parking our car was a problem, but as soon as we located the nearest car park and navigated the oneway system, it was fine
