Fascinating place, great place to wander around and take in all the tiny streets. We didn't have time to go into any museums or cathedral but still enjoyed our visit in the evening and the following day. We arrived on Easter Sunday and expected to find most eating places closed (which they were) - so would plan carefully if arriving on a Sunday evening

We loved this town - it was historic but had a modern part too. Easy to wander around. We randomly booked it as a stop over to recover from a long flight from Auckland to Paris on our way south. We were wonderfully surprised. Included an easy day trip to Chambord.

Beautiful city so much to see just roaming the streets you get the feel of times gone past.
The roads are steep in places and there a lots of flights of steps.
but it is so lovely you loose time so you do not realise how far you are going.
The cathedral is amazing some of the best windows I have ever seen.
There are quite a few places to sit and eat and prices were pretty reasonable.
We traveled into the city by bus which was cheap and frequent.
but after a full morning we thought we may get a taxi back
Don't try and get a taxi at lunch time they are non existent.
We waited 40 mins at the station along with 4 other couples all having phoned for a cab.

Bourges exceded our expectations for a short stay.
Bourges exceded our expectations for a short stay. Our trip coincided with annual music festival which meant the town was busy and vibrant. Most venues were open even though it was early in the season. Old town is accessible on foot. Impressive cathedral. Lots of food options. Had pizza at La Scala, good food, reasonably priced. We learnt that Bourges was once the capital of France. Well worth a visit.

Perfect for stopover halfway down France. Restaurants in vicinity were great, unless you are a vegetarian, (but it's France). Great choices for breakfast, great coffee, cereals, fresh bread and croissants, yoghurt, crepes, fresh fruits, boil your own eggs - what fun!

The medieval area is interesting but not easy to find,,, get a map and directions from the Office de Tourisme, very helpful.
Take the tourist road train from outside the Tourist Office /cathedral; last trip 5pm
Beautiful building, well located and with local charm. The lobby entrance was nice and cozy with a little bar for relaxing. The hotel restaurant was quite nice for breakfast, gorgeous dining room. Sadly it was closed for Sun night dinner but the reception still provided me with some walkable recommendations which was nice and thoughtful. The room was nice, comfortable and as one would expect from the Mercure brand. I had a quite sleep for sure. Also really appreciated the onsite parking which was secure and helpful.
The proprietor (Anthony?) was extremely welcoming and gracious. Although he had previously agreed to store our luggage when we arrived in the morning by train, he actually went out of his way to have our room prepared early so that we could get a head start on our visit of Bourges (including suggestions for places to visit that we had not previously contemplated). He also very graciously agreed to give us a ride to the train station upon our departure.
An extremely agreeable experience! A very comfortable & relaxing hotel, conveniently located in a quiet area near the charming River Voiselle. Very kind and friendly proprietors, who were willing to engage in interesting conversation (which was much appreciated, as I was on my own). I spent a perfectly calm evening watching the sunset from my bedroom window.. If searching for excellent accommodation in Bourges, look no further!
Good value for money, perfect for a quick stop en route to the South of France. We stayed in the family room and our son loved the bunk bed above us. although it was right next to the motorway, we couldn’t believe how quiet it was in the room, you couldn’t hear a thing! the staff were super helpful and friendly. Lots of variety for breakfast too. We would definitely recommend and stay here again.

It was an overnight stop on the way to UK. Arrived at 9 pm and had good dinner at the hotel. Slept in a clean and comfy room and the breakfast was unexpectedly amazing! I frequently drive through France and this hotel will be my overnight accommodation.
simple lodging at a very affordable price makes the B&B Hotel a good choice for anyone wanting a quick overnight stop en route to or from the south of France. The furnishings are functional but the bed, shower, and WiFi are all good.
Comfortable and quiet room. Good size. Located in a quiet area just off the motorway so a great place to stop if you are travelling through France like we were. Loads of parking. Breakfast was decent with ample choice on offer.
The owner was exceptionally nice and the room (actually an apartment) was clean. It was a short walk to the old part of town. The breakfast was put outside our room and the croissants were some of the best we had in France.
Delightful apartment in center of Bourges. Loved the atmosphere of being in an old house that had been nicely modernized for a pleasant stay. Everything was available. Communication with host easy.
Lovely building beside lake.
Very comfortable bed
Plenty of parking and nice shaded garden.
Ideal for stop on way down through France.
