Amiens is a beautiful city with lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Beautiful old buildings are a bonus. We ate in La Brasserie Jules, which provided us with authentic French cuisine at a somewhat affordable price. 3 course menu, a main and a dessert with a bottle of wine came to €91. Which I feel is quite good, compared to Dublin!

It is a lovely city and the hortillonages are very interesting and lovely to walk in.
The cathedral is well worth a visit and we had the privilege of attending Sunday Mass there which we loved. Very reverent and befitting of true worship. Beautiful singing.
We can also recommend Ad Hoc Café in the St Leu district. Good food and well priced; good vibe.

This visit (my second to Amiens) Day 1 started at the Saturday canal-side market, lots of stalls with seasonal vegetables, fruit and herbs grown in the Hortonillage and the Somme region. Then I dipped into some shops - including an inspiring visit to the ground floor of the big Monoprix where clever lighting makes quite ordinary day to day food look irresistible, some of the many new and secondhand bookshops, a huge ironmongers and an over-the-top patisserie. In the afternoon, to Jules Verne's house: a wonderfully, eccentric building; full of marvellous furniture and objects, very well curated. I spent the whole of Day 2 (7 am - 4 pm at the extraordinary - huge - Spring Braderie. I found that my visit to the Jules Verne house, and its thoughtful interpretation made the market especially enjoyable. Many of the stalls had examples of the things I had found so interesting in the house - for instance archeological finds, including flint axes, found around Amiens; corals and shells; endless examples of oil lamps (some working, other 'do-er' uppers). Many stalls had very good pieces of ceramic from different periods and cultures. Lots of the stall holders were up for a good bit of haggling. Then a glass of beer in the sun-shine ,sitting on the street outside a cafe, buzzing with laughing locals and visitors.
Amiens is a very walkable city, its buildings are fabulous. It's lively and very clean.

Lovely old town centre and especially the cathedral.
Lovely old town centre and especially the cathedral. Well worth a look around. Nice cafes. Parking was initially a problem as large town centre car park ticket machines did not work. We got a side street machine which worked fine.

Amiens is a small city, and perfect for walking.
Amiens is a small city, and perfect for walking. The cathedral in particular, is spectacular, but it's not the only place of interest in, or around, the town. St Leu, and Les Hortillonnages, plus Le Jardin des Plantes, are well worth visiting and, of course, many of the WW1 sites are within very easy reach, by car.

Flandres Fields and Passchendaele in Belgium.
Amiens is a great city with the largest cathedral in France, Jules Verne house, canals, water gardens, zoo snd wide choice of eateries.
80 minutes by train from Paris (Gare de Nord)
Lovely, welcoming, staff. Our room was spotlessly clean and very well equipped - couldn't fault it. Dinner was delicious and fairly priced - not inexpensive but you get what you pay for. If arriving by car, the private car park has ample room & no headroom restriction. We were in a van and stayed at Le Vivier instead of staying in Amiens where surface parking is limited & not necessarily secure. Great to stay in family run accommodation instead of the usual chain hotels
The furnishing of the property was lovely, very stylish and felt homely as well. All the bedrooms were a very good size and clean.
The hosts made the stay, although we self checked in, the communication from the hosts was amazing. They were so lovely and welcoming, an absolute delight. We have spent two weeks travelling round France and came across this property and it’s safe to say the hosts were by far the nicest people we had come across.
What an adorable place in a great city! The location was ideal in terms of distance to the city for quiet nights but an easy walk during the day. As for the facilities they were fantastic and the breakfast was absolutely amazing! Julie is so sweet and accommodating as well. If I ever get to come back to Amiens I will be staying here without question-it was better than any hotel experience I had on other parts of the trip.
Collecting the keys at the property on arrival would have been straightforward for anyone with a EU phone who could make a phone call once arrived. As I didn't have a phone that functions in France (without buying a new SIM card), I emailed the owner in advance. Sadly, he never replied to my email. Checking in was consequently more hassle than it should have been.
Very friendly hostess (Julie) who was always looking to go the extra mile. Some of the best service we received in anywhere we stayed on our trip. The room has most things you would need and the breakfast was exceptional and cooked freshly to order. The bed was very comfy and extra things like a tv with access to smart subscription content was a nice touch too.
We arrived late but a quick phone call got us inside and into our room. We found this a charming, character-full hotel. The breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly. The cleanliness and excellent bed were much appreciated. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an authentic French hotel experience.
We were upgraded to a Privilege Room at no extra cost which had a wonderful vie of the Cathedral.
The location of the hotel is fairly central so it was very easy to see the sites of Amiens
We ate in the hotel restaurant and both the evening meal and breakfast were very good.
The room was clean. Location is good because not too far from the train station and the water canals.
There is a nice walk down the hotel with grass, ponds and water running. It is nice to walk around there if you want to relax or rest.
The house was perfect for our overnight stay on our way south. It was clean & comfortable, with parking on the street outside the property. Amiens centre was beautiful, with plenty of restaurants & only a short walk away.
We love the location of the apartment. It was walking distance to everything in Amiens. It was also very comfortable and cozy, and had a nicely stocked and kitchen very comfortable bed and easy access.
Excellent hotel. Right next to railway station. Spacy room. Very modern. Walking distance to Amiens Cathedral where they keep head of John the Baptist himself!
