staff and location
lack of air in rooms
hot bath. room generally. view. extras like fruit and sherry. helpful receptionist.
useless fridge that pumped out heat into an already warm room. noise from wedding celebrations spilling out into street until 1.30 and then guests noise in corridor until 3am. no access to the bar, terrace or lounge because of wedding-so paying for facilities that weren't actually available.
Very convenient location for University departments. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast! Straightforward route to town centre
Alhough I slept fine, I can see that some rooms might be quite noisy either as close to the bar, or noise from outside.
The single room I stayed in was very comfortable and the atmosphere was welcoming. The location of the hotel is excellent; it is very close to the city centre and is very affordable.
One of the small ceiling lights was out of order in my room.
Good location, good service
It's not worth the money. We came 5 yrs ago and loved it but the rooms have not been updated since and now feel way past their best. Carpets and bathroom both stained. And the wifi costs a fortune.
Function area and courtyard
Noisy deliveries early in the morning
Good location and building. Nice staff.
The room was a little tired though - stains on curtains and bedspread- and could do with an overhaul. In case the management read this: fix the Soap dispensers.
The reception staff was very helpful and courteous. The rooms were very neat and tidy with excellent complimentary fruits and drink. The Square was an additional attraction of this lovely heritage hotel close to the Bristol University and Cabot Tower plus other attractions of the city. Made my first visit to Bristol memorable. Very helpful staff who had answers and solutions to all my queries and curiosities about Bristol and Bath. I shall be staying in this hotel during my next visit and have recommended it to my friends and colleagues !
Good use of small room space and a comfortable bed. Helpful staff.
Tiny bathroom with tricky shower. Uncertain parking availability. Bar closed at 10.30pm.
The hotel is in an excellent position. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The single room was good. I particularly enjoyed the little touches in the room. The room was clean with good facilities.
The only thing I didn't like was the bed. The mattress was old and uncomfortable. I didn't sleep that well. This is something that could easily be changed.
Excellent location. Nice welcome from staff. We booked two rooms. I asked them to arrange a nice one for my Mother and they did. Lovely view from her room which was room 9. No view in ours - room 35 - but that was o.k because I wanted my mum to have the good one. The room was clean, bathrooms clean and nice big towels and comfortable beds in both rooms. Free sherry and fruit was a nice touch but I think that was spoilt by charging for wifi.
We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as we thought £11.50 was too much on top of the price of the rooms. the downstairs areas are very nice but both rooms were a bit beige and tired looking in decor. Our double room was very small at the top was very small with a brick wall instead of a view but it was cosy in a nice way and well equipped. I also didn't think we should have to pay for wifi. It was £2.50 an hour.
The Room The Bar The Staff
Unclear what the Breakfast arrangements were. Booking out time was so early it felt like an eviction. The car park 8.30 exit with no clear instruction of alternate parking
Comfy bed, clean room, handy location for restaurants, friendly staff.
The location, the staff, the breakfast and the décor in the public areas.
The size of the basement room, the noisy function going on upstairs, the inability to book a car parking space in advance
Liked the touches in the room Fresh tea, coffee, milk and fruit
Bathroom Very small
The reception, the bar AMD lounge, the garage
The room was very hot due to a cheap refrigerator installed in the room that was working a radiator, really not needed in the hot weather of the last days. The room was also noisy with single glazed windows and seagals onntje roof the all night
Friendly, efficient service. Superb location.
The heat in some rooms in summer is unbearable! The hotel's listed status apparently rules out air- conditioning . The inefficient fan in the room hardly alleviates the discomfort.
Very central location in Bristol
Room and bathroom were clean but bathroom fittings were a little bit tired. I was on a brief stay so this didn't affect me adversely.
The closeness of the hotel to the University of Bristol, which makes it very convenient for reunion functions.
There is quite a lot of noise at night due to the proximity of various bars with music.
parking availabe was great in the centre of Bristol excellent breakfast very friendly staff and great decor in the lounge areas lovely room overlooking the park
shower could have been upgraded
Location opposite the Museum, lots of buses nearby, but a mostly quiet square off the main road. Sainsbury's, Boots nearby. Peaceful garden in the square. Good breakfast. Nice staff, comfy bed, cotton sheets, Quirky decor! free fruit, coffee, tea. Fan provided at my request.
Only the lack of a non-slip bathmat. I should have bought one!
we liked the location as it was close to our sons graduation venue. we had very pleasant stay all the staff were nice.
we didnt find anything to dislike.
Location, ambience, great food, excellent service
The bathroom was tiny and there were no toiletries other than hand soap and shower gel in dispensers
Location for graduation ceremony could not have been better
The shower is well overdue a change. It was 'chatty' and needed a thorough clean. Someone wS definitely smoking in one of the rooms on my corridor
