Had a relaxing stay staff were very friendly and helpful great food and room was very comfortable and clean would recommend mcdonald forest hills to anyone
I liked the comfort and size of the rooms.
Chose this hotel as it had a pool however the pool was full of water floats for kids and not a relaxing pool for a swim. Hotel lacked a bit of atmosphere. Maybe some relaxing background music may help. Drinks were over priced and extra payments for food options in the fine dining were in my opinion overpriced as well. Would have liked some Scottish staff especially in a Scottish hotel!
Loved the location, the facilities and our room was very comfortable hope to try out the lodges on our next visit.
The midges!! Have only one small disappointment you do not do potato scones at breakfast.
The bistro where we could take our dog in while having a meal. Food was delicious. Very well looked after by all the staff. Loved sitting on the beautiful terrace having drinks and watching the sun go down over the gorgeous view.
Price of breakfast £17 per person. Found a gorgeous cafe 500yards away wee blether tea room for breakfast. What an amazing experience. Lovely owners and staff
I stayed in room 301 which was a suite on Friday and it was immaculately beautiful.
I stayed in a room on sat night and compared to the suite it was slightly dated.
The location is very special on the shore of Loch Ard. But it is the only hotel in the area and is taking advantage of this by offering a less than 4 star service.
I received 2 "courtesy calls" from different staff members the day before we checked in.One suggesting I reserve a table for dinner (though it clearly wasn't necessary) It is v.surprising that a 4 star hotel closes the dining room at 9:30 pm on a Friday night). The other asking if I wanted to book any spa treatments. This was too much and I was annoyed before I had even arrived. I had asked for a room with a bathtub for my disabled partner. We were given one on the 2nd floor but there was no lift! The breakfast buffet was adequate, but with very little choice. We didn't try the cooked breakfast. Luckily we were out all day at a family gathering so did not spend much time inthe hotel.
Excellent hotel with great food, service and facilities with the added bonus of an absolutely stunning location.
Having to leave.
Location Wine Tasting and views
Location, View, Food, Gym, service
Rooms a bit dated for the room rates
Big plus. You are dog friendly as I took my dog with me and my fiancé. Pool, sauna, rooms
Breakfast price- ridiculous £35 for 2 Some ham ,cheese, toast and coffe -NO 5 min walk and there is wee place serves full breakfast and more for less
Parts of the hotel feeling a bit tired and in need of some freshening up. Felt it was expensive for what it was. Food was average in the restaurant wouldn't class it as fine dining.
The views are amazing , lots to do . The spa is fabulous and staff very helpful . Food is delicious best fish I have ever had so fresh .
We went into the bar bistro The Rafters for some dinner . We were having a few alcoholic drinks . The waiter offered us water for table , we didn't want it but felt to be polite . It was almost £4 on our bill at the end . I don't think you should have to pay for still water on your table.
Great breakfast, free wifi and our bicycles were stored securely overnight. Lovely view from the room and a history of ghostly goings on in the room information folder.
Not hotel's fault but road to hotel narrow and in poor condition. Very poor mobile phone reception at hotel.
The room was very comfortable, as was the bed.
Hotel wasnt the best but not the worse ive stayed in. The staff were friendly.
Bit on the pricey side. Hotel could have been cleaner.
The staff are fantastic
The roads getting there are bad
drive to location
Matress too soft
leisure facilities good
tatty room breakfast choice poor
Poorly trained staff, mainly from eastern Europe.
Views were fantastic Majority of staff were polite and helpful Shemik in the Rafters Bar n Bistro was a star, best service we had all weekend along with all his staff
Paid extra for a garden view room, our view was the roof of the restaurant, went to check with the receptionist and the comment I got was 'well you did book with Booking.com', not impressed, especially as there were no rooms available directly with the hotel. Paper thin walls, either that or people in next room were deaf and shouting all the time and on the other side, every time they flushed the toilet we heard, then they dropped the toilet seat, that woke me up at 3am one morning and they kept dropping items in the bathroom as well which was extremely loud in the early hours. Night time menu very limited after 10, I asked for an egg sandwich, could not find much egg in there. Severe lack of car parking, made to park in a dirty, muddy area up the back. At breakfast I went to get croissants and heard who I thought was a waitress saying 'and they just keep coming' it was actually the manageress, sorry but this is your job. Toast awful, cold and very chewy, poached egg made me gag, tasted like a pickled egg, far too much vinegar used. Several people were waiting for tables and yes the staff are busy but there were alot of table empty tables, think a bit of delegation should have been called for. After the first comment from the receptionist I did not see the point in complaining any more as there was obvious attitude there.
Where do I start . The location is fantastic when you just want to go away for a relax. Food was very good as was the service.
Television was rather small . Lots of men sat around a very small screen watching a big match !
Very much liked the superb views from the hotel grounds and also the beautifully kept gardens. The meal we had in the Bistro was excellent. Generally found the staff very helpful.
Our room was fine except that in the bathroom the toilet seat was loose as was one of the bathroom fittings. The meal in the main restaurant was much more expensive than in the Bistro but not good value.
From the minute we walked into hotel the service was amazing and the staff really friendly. The food was excellent.
The only fault we had was when we went to our room No8 you could see the inside of the windows were dirty, dust in the room was a disgrace, you could see the dust right round the bed and tv unit and right round the edging of the carpet and even the book telling you all about the hotel was dusty. In our room was a sofa bed I couldn't tell you the last time it was moved cause it was thick with dust and there was pop corn and lid of kids juice bottle . Rest of the hotel was spotless
