Beautiful venue in lovely surroundings
we found the beds very firm
The staff and the build
Outside of house attractive with nice views. When you walk into the main hotel all the character has gone and been ruined by rather cheap looking decor you would expect from a travel lodge. It's a shame because it could be made very nice.
Staff need training no customer service skills. Arrived Christmas Eve for a 3 nights stay and staff did not even say merry Christmas on the day. Breakfast was a shambles unreplenished cooked food, plates not cleared from tables between sittings, coffe brought but no cups and no apologies. Cobwebs hanging from bedroom light and cobwebs in bathroom. Not impressed by anything.
Nice wedding food. Nice buffet food and efficient table service.
The main men's toilets stank. Cheap toilet paper in room. No biscuits . Not enough staff on at breakfast.
I stayed for two nights on19 and 20th dec, on arrival we were told that they were hosting a party on both nights which kept us up most of the night, then when we ordered food for room service, we were told that we couldnt be fitted in as the kitchens would be busy until 9. We then had a phonecall after 9 asking if we would still like to order!!!! Then to top the lot, there was no hot water or heating during our stay, we simply had a note posted under the door stating that the hot water and heating problems were being dealt with from management stating that there has been no hot water or heating due to a fault!!!!!
The hotel is in a secluded location and offers a welcoming base for a short break. The dining room offers a range of excellent food prepared and presented to a high standard.
We booked through booking.com and opted for the package including breakfast, only to be told on arrival that breakfast was not included in our package and we were therefore charged separately. on enquiry Booking.com stated that they did not offer meal packages, something that is contradicted by those currently on offer on the website.
A quiet, comfortable hotel with good facilities. Excellent bar and restaurant.
Good breakfast, ample parking
Lighting in room not great for reading
We were in a room at far end of building but despite this the noise from the party going on til 1am was extremely loud, and made rest and sleep impossible.
checking in - wedding was at 2pm and so was check in. I had previously spoke to hotel about this but no record of my call. room was too small as you walked in you fell onto the bed. bathroom needs updating. staff need to learn some etiquette ie serve ladies first and don't slop soup onto the table and SMILE! laddered tights on female waitresses isn't a good look either.
Not good value for money at 80 pounds per night and have to pay an extra 10 pounds each for breakfast not happy we had to wait for breakfast to be cooked and put into hot plates
Not a lot
Main problem was a Wedding Function being held in the main bar area with no consideration for Hotel Guest needs, leaving me queuing to get a drink at the bar. Staff not particularly helpful or attentive, whole decor of the hotel very tired
Loved the location, staff, room - especially the bed - best nights sleep for a long time.
Breakfast was excellent and help yourself service is always a winner. Evening meal of steak on first evening was below what was expected - but the following nights meal of venison pie was superb !!
Loved the house , beautifully furnished and very comfortable . Would like to return in the summer and stay longer !
Reception unaware of confirmed upgrade as advised by booking .com . However we loved the room we were allocated so no problem .
Pool and spa were closed not very happy with that could have had pre warning from staff
Friendly, helpful and efficient staff very welcoming to us all My son was particularly impressed with the location and the choice and quality of his breakfast! Gluten free diet was not a problem. Great, thank you!
The location; the morning breakfast; the layout for the wedding reception; the good food for the wedding breakfast; the care and friendliness of the staff; the wholesale cleanliness; the good sound insulation. Disability awareness of staff.
Our bedroom was well appointed but always very warm although the radiator was off - room number 43. Staff didn't know the reason and couldn't offer any solution except opening the window. Clue - swimming pool under the bedroom.
Fantastic location, very helpful and friendly staff, evening meal was lovely, great value for money would def visit again.
Rooms a little bit dated, apart from that everything was fine.
Your staff were incredibly rude, sarcastic and just didn't care. I arrived late and the staff at the reception readily joked about the hotel and how terrible it was to work there. Complete joke - no warm welcome.
Bed very comfortable. Room upgraded as receptionist thought booked room was noisy. View across fields continues to draw us back. Quiet location.
Changes being made to layout of hotel so different to last stay, I.e. restaurant in conservatory. One of the evening meals was overcooked and rubbery. Breakfast first day not up to usual standard but then improved second day.
The food was good, staff friendly.
The restaurant was cold and lacked atmosphere. In the morning for breakfast it was boiling!
Staff very friendly, beautiful Hotel.
TV in Room was too small, chipped Cup in room on both days, no fridge in room.
Comfort,decor, friendly staff, excellent food.
Toaster at breakfast. There could have been more staff to help at breakfast time, had to leave breakfast on our table getting cold, to find staff and ask for eggs as there were none, however staff were very apologetic
Staff friendly, food excellent and good value. Location beautiful
Bit to warm in the hotel
Warm welcome and clear info about dining times etc. Food well cooked, excellent advice on wine from bar staff.
Dining area off the bar, possibly better in summer but felt more like a passageway leading somewhere rather than a place for convivial dining.
