The pub itself was bright, fresh and welcoming. Bathroom was modern and the water pressure of the shower was phenomenal! (Could've done with a hand rail to get in n out of bath).

From the picturesque parks to the vibrant local culture, Wigan has something for everyone. The welcoming community and the rich history make it a must-visit destination. Wigan has always been a decent night out, we had arrived a little bit too late to go out into the city centre, so we decided to just get our head down and have an early-ish night, getting into the room, I noticed that somebody had been sick quite recently on the carpet of the room we were staying in as it still hadn’t been cleaned up, I would definitely think about not staying in that accommodation like this again

The place I lived in for the first 30 years of my life till 41 years ago is a depressing town to walk around that is losing its character to yet another go at modern development. Too many derelict shuttered buildings. The only town with a bypass that runs through the centre of it!

Wigan is under redevelopment at present, a reaction I suppose to the changing shopping habits of people. The town is no better or worse than many others I visit, but it does look like Wigan has taken action to reintroduce housing to the town centre which should bring with it a shopping and eating revival. My access to restaurants was limited as I arrived on a Tuesday. I was recommended a particular restaurant as being one of the best in the town. It was fine and the staff were wonderful, but I wasn't told when I booked (in person) that the only option was the pre-fixe menu, the a la carte wasn't available on Tuesday. I was there to meet with friends so the overall ambience of the town was less important, but I feel that Wigan is a town that isn't there yet but is trying to get there and will be a great place to visit when the redevelopment is complete.

We stayed in room 26 and the people in the room above were noisy all night - had no sleep so checked out at 5.30am - reported noise to night porter he said they’d been in and out all night have cigarettes. He said he’s done a walk about check at 5am and he could hear them being noisy but did nothing about it - had a 4 hour drive after having no sleep - I would request a full refund
I was expecting a budget hotel, and the price paid means it could be classed as such. However, it was clean modern and very comfortable. Staff were excellent. I chatted to the barman and was told this was one of the most recent variants of the Holiday Inn Express. Air Conditioning is the modern stylish rooms. What more could you ask for. The bar was pleasant, prices were reasonable and even better during the two hour Happy Hour! Next time I need accommodation in the area the hotel will be top of my list!
Great location for local bars and pubs. Lovely pub inside the decor is fantastic with stained glass. Special mention for the extremely friendly staff - I had fraud on my card on the day I was there and had to cancel my details, so the lady from the hotel called me directly when I got home to ensure my refund of the security deposit went through which I was extremely grateful for. Good value for town centre and we had a family room so price split between us. Room was clean with a lovely spacious bathroom
It was a very cozy and comfortable place to stay. A garden area overlooked the place which was definitely a plus point. It is well located, with Tesco extra a post office right around the corner. Also, our work place was just a 5 minutes walk from the property which was very convenient for us. The highlight of the stay was certainly its locking system. But the best part were the hosts who were extremely humble and helpful.
We had everything we needed for a reasonable price. The reception staff were super friendly! The room was a great sized family room even though it was for just the two of us, clean, warm and in a nice quiet part of the hotel. All tea, coffee, milk top ups were always displayed in the reception area, to pick up whenever, no need to even ask and we even enjoyed 3 great breakfasts!!!
The staff were really friendly, the hotel was easy to find also was 15 minutes from the town center. There was a beautiful park near by which me and my partner took a walk around. I would definitely recommend this hotel. We have booked for next year.
Classic Wetherspoons Hotel, one up from a Travelodge, on a par with Marstons & Greene King Hotels but a bit cheaper.
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
All rooms on one floor so no noise from above.
Huge restaurant with great service.
Hotel looked tired. I was put in a room in an alcove next to the entrance and it was very noisy. Unimpressed. Room needed a refurb. Certainly needs downgrading a star. No where near as good as Wrightington Country Club.
The pub itself was bright, fresh and welcoming. Bathroom was modern and the water pressure of the shower was phenomenal! (Could've done with a hand rail to get in n out of bath).
Location is perfect for Wigan centre.
Alan the manager gave us a great welcome. He was able to sort out all queries and explained the set up at the hotel well. The hotel itself is clean and the facilities are adequate for this venue.
Very friendly check in - nice spacious room, very comforting after coming back from the all nighter :) also convenient downstairs bar and an easy walk to Wigan town centre
Pool was lovely.
No obvious towel facility for hotel(although next day staff said it was ok to borrow a towel)

Stuff is very friendly and room is clean and tidy. Bed was very comfortable. Location is very good and quiet, city centre is ~10 minutes away with a car.
