Thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing weekend exploring the valley of the rocks and the spectacular views from the surrounding coastal path walks. Hotel had a great atmosphere and we were made to feel welcomed. Food excellent.
The polite staff, very comfortable room and view over the harbour
Lovely sea view & quirky room very prettily furnished. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. We have stayed here before and will do so again.
Unfortunately the room was a little cold... there was a radiator which we turned up, but the heating automatically went off altogether during late evening & we needed the spare blanket which had been provided.
The location and staff were fantastic.
Our room was very small, but comfortable and nicely decorated. A lovely window seat looking out onto Lynmouth. Dinner and service excellent.
Atmosphere and charm of pub and restaurant. So clean and comfortable
nothing as all good
Everything. Excellent breakfast, friendly quick service, cosy, comfortable room.
Creaky crooked passages and stairs. Lovely food.
Location and traditional nature of the building. Friendly staff.
Poor value for money as room was small and very noisy due to it's location directly above a busy bar. Significant problem with noise until 23.30. This should be mentioned in the room details before customers proceed to booking. The room fee should reflect this.
Atmosphere and very prt friendly.
we really liked to atmosphere /comfort/views
we found the evening menu expensive but found a lovely little pub up the road which did good food
We had really nice weekend in Lynmouth at the end of November. We had never visited the area before but loved Exmoor and Lynmouth and Lynton. We were incredibly lucky with the weather. We looked at the reviews before we booked and were happy to find the Rising Sun really was a lovely place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was warm and inviting. The food we had at the Rising Sun was excellent. We love our seafood and weren't disappointed with the crab which was perfect. The breakfast was lovely too. All the staff including the landlady couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. We loved the Lydford Gorge but were disappointed that the Cliff Railway was closed. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for a lovely Stay.
Was a bit expensive.
Food fantastic with a great warm welcome
Excellent hospitality, location, food
Loved the bath in our room. Staff we amazing and food was fantastic too.
2nd visit, plan to go again next year. Great place in a lovely part of the country. Food is excellent.
Stayed in room 5, bathroom a little bit small - minor detail !
It is a beautiful old building. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly in the restaurant. The food was excellent. The lighting in the bedroom was excellent, with wonderful reading lights. There was a very comfortable small sitting room for guests, peaceful, with no television and a lovely sea view. The bedroom also had a wonderful view. We will definitely hope to return soon!
There was no towel rail in our bedroom or in the en suite. The light switch for the bathroom was outside the bathroom door, which could mean disturbing the other room occupant at night.
The position is perfect, right by the water with views to die for. The atmosphere is also manic, with low ceilings, panelled walls and that "old fashioned" hostelry feel. All the staff were attentive and helpful at all times. As for the food, well, we couldn't fault it. Everything we ordered was cooked and served to perfection. This is the place for a relaxing, atmospheric stay. Would recommend.
We were travelling with a small dog and the staff could not be more accommodating providing an area in the restaurant and an ideal room. The food was especially good.
There was not much to dislike but the hotel is very fish orientated so if you do not like the smell (only in the restaurant) you may be disappointed. This is being very picky and should not deter from staying/dining.
Superb location and welcoming and hard-working staff. The bar food was restaurant quality but a wider range of mid-price food would be appreciated.
An excellent hotel in a wonderful location. Outstanding food and great service.
Very comfortable, clean room. Good food and beer in the evening, excellent breakfast.
Wonderful location, great food, polite friendly and helpful staff. A very relaxing stay!
Lovely cozy old English Inn. Loved the charm of the uneven floors and narrow walkways. Room was spotless and really cozy. Food in the evening was very good and the staff throughout were excellent.
