Hmmm, I like (to some extent) everything here...
Excellent location: a 5 minutes walk to Holyrood park and 20-25 nimutes to the center. Cosy. Good breakfast. Cool snaky corridors :)
Great location, and it was nice being in the university area. Room was spacious and very nice. No complaints. We'd stay here again.
Tad far out, but plenty of buses to get to the main town
The scaffolding outside our bedroom window!
Friendliness of the staff was amazing, Ramune was so lovely and her welcome was superb. Nothing was too much trouble.
There was scaffolding all over the outer building which blocked the view. We weren't informed of this. We were awoke at 8am by housekeeping. This seemed very rude. As checkout is very early at 10.30am, I think 8am is a bit early considering we were showering and getting ready!
Stayed in a lovely large room with a huge comfortable bed. The hotel was very quiet and peaceful with all the facilities you could ever need.
We had booked a standard plus double room which advertised a double bed yet there were two single beds in the room with two single quilts. This was not acceptable and we wouldn't go back for that reason. We felt it was misleading advertising about a standard plus double room!
Good location and staff friendly
Wifi was not working
Leon at reception was excellent.
No lift & long corridors.
Good breakfast, pleasant staff, comfy bed & nice bathroom
TV would not work , could get radio but not TV .
Warm cosy room on a very wet night . Staff very pleasant and helpful .
Only minor problem was that there was no lift and we were on the top floor but we understood that it was an old building and thats why there was no lift
The room was great and very clean, the bed was extremely comfortable and the staff were lovely.
Can't think of anything! Could do to be cheaper but was still good value for money.
Newly refurbished room, very spacious. Great choice of cooked + continental breakfast. Friendly staff.
cost £100 more when booking as rugby on. Then cheap at last minute as rooms hadn't sold. Still had to pay full wack. Smokers at the front door.
lovely room, good bathroom and shower wifi good breakfast was very nice buffet and table service no hastles
Staff were wonderful, room was comfortable, location great, breakfast very good, building very attractive.
Menu on room service never had anything wa asked for
The maze of corridors
Easy parking. Close to city. Very quiet. Lovely view over Holyrood Park. Delicious breakfast - lots of choice.
Comfortable stay with one of the best best breakfasts I've had in a hotel, excellent quality!
Room very cold on arrival. Staff provided extra duvet for first night and heater on second night. Breakfast was disappointing as cooked food seemed to be pre cooked so better to have cereal, toast and fruit. Really don't think this hotel was good value and wouldn't stay there again.
Location, and helpful staff when we had a problem with the room.
Room a little chilly but it was December/January and that is partly due to the high ceilings in the hotel.
Good location not far from the city centre right on the main bus route. Plenty of free parking and very friendly and helpful staff, comfy bed and good sized room. Breakfast extensive.
On arrival room was very cold -heating not working we told that it was being fixed however did not work until morning we left - we were given a plug in oil heater but this only worked if key card was in place - hence cold room on return after being out
We were given a disabled access bedroom/bathroom which was completely unnecessary and felt very characterless. The bathroom flooded after a shower meaning the overflow of water escaped into the bedroom itself, completely unacceptable. Having paid a good amount of money (for a peak time of year) and booked 3 months before arrival, as a couple we were given two single beds pushed together. In a cold December the radiators were turned up to the maximum but only gave out luke warm heat. Having mentioned all these issues to reception, they seemed to unblock the drainage and placed a broken plug-in heater into our room. They were unable to relocate us. Thoroughly disappointed with the room. If you are paying considerably more around a certain time of year then you should expect a proportionally greater level of service and room, which we certainly did not get. I would ask for a refund for my stay but I don't think they would have given it to us. Dear people reading this, I don't feel this is an unfair review, this is the first time I have ever felt the need to complain about a hotel room in my 26 year life, it may also sound rather dramatic but I feel you should get full disclosure of issues with my stay at this hotel. Overpriced - underdelivered.
Good wifi Nice, quiet location Good breakfast
It was freezing cold In the room. Radiator only aired and a big room for one heater. Bathroom really cold. We asked for another heater which we got. But that only worked when you were in the room as it needed electric which went of when you went out
The breakfast was good.
Our daughter was studying for a semester at U of Edinburgh and was living at Pollock Hall. The Salisbury is located at Pollock and thus was very convenient. It is a short bus ride or a lovely 20 minute walk to the centre of the city and campus. The Salisbury is a great value for the money; the beds are comfortable, rooms clean and bathrooms updated, staff pleasant and helpful. We stayed here on two separate occasions. You can't go wrong here!
Room was very comfortable and quiet. Good location near transport to central Edinburgh.Breakfast was excellent.
Nothing. Couldn't fault hotel or service. Do not be put off by the fact it is set on a university campus. This means more space, free parking and set in lovely grounds.
Where else can you get a 3star hotel room with your own turret with views of Arthur's seat? Gorgeous building with character about 1 mile from the Royal Mile. We had 4 separate rooms and all were spotless and well fitted out. Bathroom excellent. Comfy beds, free WiFi and safety deposit box. We will go back.
