My place is a lovely house in a leafy suburb of Birmingham, yet close to the city. There's plenty of room for family getways, time with friends or a stay for work or study. In Edgbaston, it's near the Cricket Ground for sporting and other events, and close to the University of Birmingham and the QE Hospital too. The bus into the city is a 2 min walk away, as is the nearest pub, restaurant and small shop. Harborne High Street, with lots of great places to eat and drink, is a 10 min walk. The house has two good sized double bedrooms with fitted wardrobes and chests of drawers, and a single room with bunkbeds. There's an upstairs bathroom, with shower over bath and loo, and a downstairs toilet too. The kitchen is well equipped, with a dishwasher, washing machine and everything else you'd expect to make delicious meals, including olive oil, herbs, and salt and pepper to get you started, and coffee, tea and sugar to keep you going. In the separate dining room there's a large dining table, and in the sitting room two sofas for relaxing into. There's Now TV and Netflix, and of course broadband, but if you're doing a digital detox there's also plenty of novels and non-fiction books, as well as some games. The garden is paved and peaceful with a table to eat or relax at.

My name is Rachel, I've lived in Birmingham for 15 years and love the Edgbaston/Harborne area for it's proximitiy to the city centre, and it's quiet, leafy calmness. I personally look after and clean the property between stays, ensuring that the highest standard is maintained and there's everything guests need at the house at all times. I am usually close by if a guest has a problem with the property and am always available to answer questions about the area, or offer suggestions of things to see and do in while staying in the city. Birmingham is very green and has a wonderful canal network, so if you're interested in getting around by foot, or bike, I have some great suggestions on routes for that.

The house is in a suburb very near to the city centre, and there's lots to see and do. If you're into Art then the Barber Institute of Fine art is a 25 minute walk away, on the University of Birmingham campus, and houses a great collection. The Ikon Gallery, in Brindley Place, is also less than half an hour on foot, and Birmigham Museum and Art Gallery is in the city centre. There are 2 multiscreen cinemas within a 20 minute walk, and hundreds of places to eat and drink all in under a half an hour walk. But if you don't want to walk the bus stop is only 2 mintues from the house. Birmingham has a vibrant nightlife, with lots of live music venues as well as nightclubs of all genres. The canal network is a highlight of the city and it's a lovely way to get around, you can take a taxi boat, or a tourist trip, or even dine onboard a boat while seeing the sites.
