In Kendal town center, the Riverside Hotel is a 17th-century building with a state-of-the-art recreation club. Rooms have river views, and Windermere and the Yorkshire Dales are a 15-minute drive...

Athmosphere location parking pet friendly staff good
Could have been warmer
Friendly hotel staff, room accommodates pets, probably decor in need of an update but overall clean and comfortable.
Bar shuts at 10:30 without telling the guests! Although receptionist allowed us to order a drink to take to our room. Top floor accommodation, a bit noisy first thing with the sound of water running through the pipes, luckily I wasnt intending on a lie in!
The breakfast was good.
There was a Christmas party going on beneath my bedroom which was very noisy until 12.00 which was too disruptive. The food in the resteraunt was poor and I complained to two different staff members who offered nothing in response! My room was a little in need of refurbishment, bathroom a bit shabby.
Excellent food really good value, loved the pool and spa . Would definitely book again.
Staff were excellent. Very welcoming and lots of good advice about local area. Overall the facilities, including breakfast, were very good.
As other reviews have said, some of the rooms are now in need of a quick freshen up and that would bring the score up to excellent as everything else is spot on. This need of an update meant that in terms of value for money it was a little low compared to the décor standards that are seen in other hotels which is a shame as at the moment this is impacting the scores of what is a lovely hotel. I would stay there again.
The staff couldn't be more helpful. They really added a friendly and personal touch. At breakfast, we kept troubling them for coffee and other things-service with a genuine smile. It's a quaint hotel with a small and cosy feel. Great for breaking up a journey on the M6!
Nothing worth mentioning.
Attentive and helpful staff. Within walking distance (20 minutes) of Kendal centre. Excellent restaurant
Disturbance from an adjoining room bathroom extractor fan left on all night.
The hotel were very flexible. I had to change my booking at the last minute due to car problems. They changed the booking with no problem and even arranged a nice meal to be waiting due to a late arrival the next night. Then, again at last minute notice they were able to extend my visit by another night due to work issues. The room was lovely & comfortable and I was even given a 4 poster bed during my stay. The staff were fantastic and nothing was too much for them. Brandon, waiting in the restaurant was very professional and made sure my meal was to standard. Jocelyn, at reception was friendly and helpful. But all the staff I encountered were very good and pleasant. I stay quite often and I find this hotel meets all my needs for business & meetings and working lunches.
Staff Pool & Jacuzzi
Bit dated could do with a lick of paint. Not too bad just neads a little bit of sprucing up.
Breakfast was good with a range of different foods. Tea making facilities. Reasonable location for the centre of Kendal. Friendly staff
The building and furniture are tired. We had a wall light that was burned through. Our 4 poster room was quite cramped really and quite hard.
Receptionist - The welcome was lovely, she was fab.
Breakfast staff very poor Double bed tiny and duvet too small Traffic very noisy Decor needs a bit of TLC
I liked the staff as they were very friendly and helpful. Yhe breakfast was very good too.
Breakfast was excellent, room was peaceful and warm with a window that opens. You don't seem to get those anymore in these health and safety obsessed times.
Not necessarily something I disliked but as a traveler with a dog, the grounds to the hotel are quite small, although there is a green space not far down the road.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful hotel comfy room and lovely food.
leisure facilities and good food in house.
It was very warm, if a little too warm for us. The breakfast was excellent. The public areas are lovely if a little tired but the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The pool looked very inviting, it was a shame I didn't get time to try it out.
The first room we were allocated was not what we would expect for the price we were paying. There was thick dust on some of the furniture, the sink had no plug that fitted and the room had a very musty, stale smell. We asked to be moved which was sorted immediately and although this was a better room the furniture was still shabby. However I found out from talking to someone in the town that the hotel has been up for sale for some considerable time so I presume no money is really being spent on it. A shame because it could be lovely. I would say a bit pricey for what you get.
The hotel was lovely. The dining room and pool areas were very good. Food was good also. Staff all pleasant and helpful.
The bedrooms and bathrooms and bar area need refurbishing. The furniture in the bedrooms is scratched and dated. Towels, bath mats need replacing. Toilet paper is wafer thin. Pillows and bedding not great either. Mattresses need to be replaced.
Friendly staff and a decent breakfast.
Bad pillows, overheated, v tired decor with no extractor in bathroom. Needs a bit of a re-furb, and a manager to oversee breakfast service. Staff were trying hard, but a bit frazzled by the numbers appearing for late breakfast on a Sunday, which you might expect!
We had a fantastic stay at Stonecross Manor. the recently refurbished pool and spa was excellent. Loved the extra hot jacuzzi. Dinner in the restaurant was very good and great value for money.
Pool facilities were excellent and meal in restaurant and breakfast were great.
Rooms were too hot and airless and furniture a bit tired with handles missing.
The breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice
Very small room, hot in spite of heating being turned off and window open. Bathroom needs abit of tlc and unfortunately smelt of urine
Good location, nice tidy comfy hotel.
Staff and location
A little dated fixtures and fittings
Friendly, helpful staff. Very good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Good shower (plenty of hot water and decent pressure). Good parking and only 10 min walk to town centre.
Furniture in room dated and a bit worse for wear. A lot of mould on window frame. Bathroom in need of modernisation and it's missing door lock and clothes hook need replacing.
Friendly and helpful staff-bar, restaurant and reception staff alike. My girlfriend had one of the massage treatments- and was really impressed with Jenni the therapist who really knew her stuff! Not too far from Kendal by car.
The pool is small, not great for a proper swim if there's more than two people in it. Decor in need of an update.
