Breakfast was good, continental followed by a cooked breakfast, room was tired as is the whole hotel but it would need lots of money spending on it.
Dinner was good and came out quick.
Staff were helpful but some could have been happier

The room was exactly what we were looking for. The breakfast staff, especially Oneita, Natalia and Jaime were excellent as was Katie, one of the room attendants. The breakfast food was very good.

The welcome extended to us upon arrival and how arriving with a bike didn't become a huge issue, as it does in some properties.
The breakfast lady was also very informative with her advice on accessing the canal for my hike and flexible with my breakfast request.

Skipton deservedly is a popular tourist destination.
Skipton deservedly is a popular tourist destination. A lovely town with a lots of heritage, a canal and lots of independent shops and a market to browse. The Castle is well worth a visit as are the canal boat trips, especially if you choose a dining experience - afternoon tea or Friday Fish and chip cruise. We ;love Skipton for the friendly atmosphere - you can see why it is regularly voted one of the best places to live. There are lots of pubs, many serving very good food, plenty of venues with live music on over the weekend and a variety of restaurants serving great food, with a range from Turkish to traditional Yorkshire fayre. Skipton is also a great base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales - Embassy with it's steam train, Bolton Abbey, or walking or cycling.

Skipton is the gateway to the dales and an excellent location with lots of restaurants to choose from.
The Herriot Hotel we stayed in offered excellent service and has lots of character.
Ther are no lifts but that is to be expected with a Hotel of this age. If we come back to the dales we will happily stay here again.

Skipton is lovely.
Skipton is lovely. We were first time visitors and stayed 2 nights. We went to the castle, had afternoon tea on a canal trip, walked through the woods and along the towpath, browsed the pretty independent shops and street market. It is scenic and attractive.

Skipton is a wonderful place to visit with many great shops, bars and places to eat. There are many great attractions, including canal boat trips from the town centre. There is a thriving market on four days of the week. The locals are extremely friendly and offer wonderful service. The prices of drinks and food were very reasonable indeed.

Beautiful, friendly place. Great Forest walks, delicious home made pies. Variety of shops, restaurants and pubs. The River Canal boat trip is a must. Went on the 'Drinks Ahoy' excursion - excellent, well organised and value for money.

enjoyable stay. Decent shopping especially on market days, lots of eating and snacking options, enty of pubs and cafes and love walks or trips by or on the canal.
The hotel was a gem of a find. When booking we didn't know what to expect but it was excellent, from arrival to leaving. Extremely clean and the host was very friendly, informative, and assisted us with our needs. The room was immaculate and had everything we needed included. Parking at the rear, which was off the main road. The breakfast was amazing and had a great level of choice. If we ever need a place to stay in Skipton, we will definitely check the availability of Dalesgate Lodge first. I would highly recommend staying here.
The location is outstanding, with the castle nearly next door and many dining and shopping options a short walk away. We enjoyed the living area in the room with a small sofa and chair. With the addition of a mini-fridge, it could have felt like a studio apartment/flat. The host gave a warm welcome and got us set up with parking. She also gave us an overview of the area and made recommendations for dining. The parking worked out great as it was only a block away and was easily accessed when we needed it.
We chose to go to Skipton for the local amenities and to be a stones throw from some great walking experiences. The location of the Shepherds hut was close to the local town and with transport links for those going further afield.
The Shepherds hut itself was clean and well presented with most things that you would be required for a chalet stay. The owner was friendly and made sure we felt welcome.
The hotel was located near all the shops and bars xmas Market was on. What was unusual breakfast was brought to your room which was a great idea and the breakfast was brilliant if we return to skipton we eould definitely stay there again. Also even though it was an old building the rooms were nice and warm outside temperature was minus
The room was beautiful. It was so cozy and beautifully decorated. Perfectly cleaned and tidied daily.
Debbie was a lovely host.
The hotel was in prime position just a w minute walk from town where there's plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops.
We'll definitely be staying again during our next trip to Skipton
A very pleasant relaxed small hotel. We stayed in one of the recently refurbished annex rooms across the courtyard. It was very comfortable and quiet. Staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel is located in the centre of Skipton just a short stroll away from the castle and canal area.
Food good and room lovely. But we won't be staying there again due to service. The grounds are well kept but it is all part of a holiday home complex (lots of dogs barking) and they use the Spa as their local swimming baths. We did have a massage which was really nice.
Lovely entrance hall very quirky which we love fresh flowers from the garden very welcoming.
Room was decorated to a high standard
Comfy bed with quality linen.
Hotel next door serving amazing food
Very good location quiet yet short walk to centre of Skipton
Location is fantastic at only 50m from the Skipton high street. No parking at the hotel but main car park is only 100m away up the back lanes. Chap that was running it was really friendly and could not do enough for us. Bed sheets were very high quality.
Manager was very nice. Good size room for 4 of us but lacking a communal area. Beds were very comfortable. As we were out drinking the best part of the hotel is the bar under the hotel. We had a great time in there.
Great location with amazing views close to Skipton in quiet country area, Breakfast was great staff helpful and overall a great stay, Would recommend location and hotel
Super friendly staff, the room was very clean and spacious a beautiful place to stay. The food was excellent no complaints at all we will definitely return
