I recently had the pleasure of staying at the White Swan Hotel in Halifax, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the experience. The hotel’s rich history and charming, traditional ambiance made for a truly unique stay. The location is perfect, just a short walk from local attractions, and it provided a convenient base for exploring the town. The room was spacious, comfortable, and full of character, with the historic features adding a lovely touch. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making me feel right at home. A lovely, comfy, clean apartment with lots of personal touches, like chocolate in the fridge (mint Aero..yummm..thank you!) Great communication from the host, Garry, easy instructions how to enter the building, plus I had a request which was no problem for him. I stayed for just one night but I'd definitely stay there again. It is in the town centre, easy to reach all of Halfax's facilities, but it was also quiet despite being central.

My third visit to Halifax and introducing a friend to this town with striking architecture, historic buildings, a vibrant shopping centre with lots of good restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars, and she loved it too. Our main aim was to visit Bankfield Museum, which is an absolute gem.

Never been before - well located in a tree lined bowl and the old and new architecture had been successfully blended in similar colour stone. Really liked Halifax. Had what you needed in terms of restaurants and we really enjoyed the gig at the Piece Hall which was a wonderful building. Only thing for us in our mid 60's is that we have announced our retirement from standing only gigs but that is us not Halifax or the Piece Hall's fault.

An often overlooked city, but a little gem.

An often overlooked city, but a little gem. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous. The high street has all the usual commodities, there's a few little markets and independent stores around the city, but the absolute star of the show is the Piece Hall. It's stunning. It feels as though you're in a different country, we took time to walk around all of it and found some absolute treasures. We had two days to explore the city and stayed one night. We found some really lovely bars and nice places to eat. We will certainly be back for another visit.

We went there for an evening away socialising (eating and drinking :-)). Halifax has a wide variety of pubs, bars of all spectrums and restaurants in a small area. The people were nice and friendly and the atmosphere was good during the whole day

I enjoyed the historical parts of Halifax like Shibden Hall, and the Peace Hall, BUT the City desperately needs better street signage. I got lost several times not knowing what street I was on. And have Information booths and maps on pedestals like they do in York. Try to make people happy by making it easier to get around. The steep hills are tricky if you're walking.

Staff and room ok but when l booked l picked it because it said there was parking when we got there no parking not happy and the breakfast was appalling no milk for cereal just basically toast yogurt or cereal without milk no mention of it being continental very disappointed

We booked the hotel as we were attending a concert at the Piece Hall. The location was excellent. 100 yards from Halifax train station and 200 yards to the Piece Hall. The hotel itself was comfortable and clean. Staff were helpful and friendly.
