Burton Hotel, hotel in Kington

Set within a modernised coaching inn, the family-run Burton Hotel is a residence situated on the Offa’s Dyke footpath in the small market town of Kington, which lies on the Welsh border.

Nice staff great location only downside was my room. They are old rooms and whilst the bathroom was a good size the water pressure in the shower was very bad and barely useable. At £115 a night that’s not good enough.

Bridie -rose Sleeps 4 to 6 with hot tub at extra cost, hotel in Kington

Boasting a hot tub, Bridie -rose Sleeps 4 to 6 with hot tub at extra cost is located in Kington. With free private parking, the property is 48 km from Elan Valley and 12 km from Kinnersley Castle.

Peaceful and quiet surroundings, just birdsong and the animals calling occasionally on the farm. Great for anybody who likes animals and getting away from the hustle and bustle of life. Meercats, Emu's, Guineafowl, Chickens, Ponies, Goat, Geese, Wallaby, Rabbits and Dogs kept an interest at all times. Had a few minor issues but they were addressed straight away by owners. Nice to sit in a quirky 'Hobbits House' (I call it) at the end of of the property. Nice to have a chat and wine in there. You could have a fire or Barbecue in there too which was nice, although we didn't do this- a nice idea though. Nice hot tub with wash down shower outside. Lights and bunting a nice touch too.

I stayed in Gladestry a small village about 15 minutes drive from Kington. In the short time I was there I managed a drive to Hay but was unable to park so headed to Kington - plenty of parking and interesting small shops. Gladestry has no shops or car parks but is an ideal place for walking eg Hergest Ridge. I ate in the Royal Oak pub in Gladestry. The food was fresh, home cooked - plenty of it. The hosts were very friendly. No public transport from Gladestry so a car or bike essential. Buses in Kington. I would avoid some of the very narrow , twisty lanes with few passing spaces.

We stayed over the new year. Plenty of walking, some great pubs especially The Old Tavern. Food and beer generally very good. 3 small supermarkets, and many individual shops. I have stayed there before, so it was lovely to be back.

A very unspoilt small town, full of interesting old buildings. It's also in one of the quietest corners of England, surrounded by lovely countryside. So it's an ideal location for walking. Although very rural, it does have a quite regular bus service to Hereford.

Great base for exploring the beautiful Herefordshire countryside, particularly for walkers. Many must-do places of interest within about 30 minutes drive, including Hergest Ridge, the Offa's Dyke Path, the Arrow Valley and Arthur's Stone (actually a neolithic burial chamber) at Dorstone. A good choice of cafes, pubs and small restaurants for such a small town. The Royal Oak was our favourite - dog friendly and does extremely good food.

Quaint little village, with a couple of cafes, traditional grocer, butcher etc. Great for walking - a lit of walks started nearby. I wouldn't recommend going on a Tuesday... a lot of the shops were shut, along with most of the pubs, takeaways etc.

Location good for work. Linton looks to be a nice, interesting town. Staff are friendly and professional.facilitoes are extensive, quirky and creative. Breakfast was very good, extensive choice and very good value. The suntrap at the back of the hotel is a great place to drink a cold beer when the weather is sunny and warm. Evening meal was tasty and service very quick. WiFi was good and easy to access. The new building at the back of the hotel, the apartments, look to be a great place to stay for youngish families.

Hands down the friendliest welcome I’ve ever had at a hotel. There’s a real focus on customer service and cleanliness. We stayed in an accessible deluxe room in the newer building. The pool, gym and spa facilities are available to all guests - lovely pool. The male pool attendant who was on duty during our stay was exceptional - very focused on hygiene with regular cleaning happening. Good breakfast and great facilities make this an ideal place to stay for families, couples and solo travellers.

The Threshing Barn at Penrhos Court is a beautiful little hideaway in the countryside. The location is lovely, and the self catering cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There's also a cafe/restaurant on site, and a nearby gastropub and village with a Co-op for supplies. Hay-on-Wye is only a 30 minute drive. The owners are a really friendly family with two amazing dogs.
