The room was lovely, small but had everything I needed. Was looking forward to my "full English" so was a little disappointed when I was offered a sandwich instead (I am not a morning bread person) and the breakfast service felt a little rushed. The evening staff were so polite, a credit to the hotel.

Well run clean and tidy location with a great bar and food menu. We had some excellent Mussels. be careful of their roast potatoes, they are excellent, you will not be able to stop eating them. All members of staff provided excellent support throughout our visit. Easy access to surrounding countryside and motorways.

This is really a set of rooms attached to a first-rate pub and restaurant--the hotel reception is at the bar. We stayed and ate there two nights in order to have the entire day at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and didn't regret it. The meals were superb, good value, and in a pleasant ambiance--can understand why reservations might be a good idea, particularly during high season. Ossett, where The Mews is located, is several miles outside Wakefield, and there didn't seem to be much to the area as far as other dining options, anyway. As for the room, on the small, dark side, but with a rather surprisingly roomy, elegant bathroom, a real desk, comfortable reading chair, and solid internet.

Evening dinner was excellent, as was our light lunch. The offered continental breakfast was sufficient for our needs and well presented. The staff were all very pleasant and professional, very welcoming and cheerfully efficient throughout our stay.
