Generally, tourist travelling to Stepantsminda do a day trip from Tbilisi and are not able explore the location much due to tour plans. But this location is definitely worth exploring more. The must visit places in this area are Gergeti Trinity Church, then on the way from the church there is Kazbegi Zipline which is 1.2kms long zipline and it cost 120 Lari. Then there is Viewpoint Terek valley 10-15min drive, after that there is Gveleti Big Waterfall which needs trekking. The Dariali Monastery Complex is must visit which is near to Russia-Georgia border. Then Ioane Natlismcemeli is another Monastery which is in Stepantsminda which can be accessed from the main market area towards the mountain. The most calmest and peaceful location of Stepantsminda.

Great place for hiking up mountains, wonderful nature to see. Gergeti monastery was an easy climb of about an hour. The village was small, dusty and quiet, not so much to do in November and not so many tourists. Simple and beautiful place with fresh air and silence.

We went to Kazbegi to see the Gergeti Trinity Church and Mount Kazbek, and were extremely fortunate with the weather - in November.
During our visit to Gergeti Trinity Church, the sun was shining at 15 Celsius in the air and just wispy clouds were in the sky. The next day snow fell on the slopes, and the temperature hit freezing point.
The drive ut from Tbilisi is something to be mindful of if you are easily stressed or inexperienced. We drove ourselves, and I am an experienced driver who has been driving all around the world.
You should set aside 3+ hours for the drive - and be prepared for a large number of semi-trailers heading in both directions. Be prepared to pass them when the situation allows. And be prepared for them to pass each other when the situation doesn't.
When you arrive in Stepantsminda, the town in Kazbegi where we stayed, you are at the mercy of the weather when it comes to what you can see and do. If the mist shows up, the view is gone.
On the road down, use the engine brake on your car - or else you might fry the regular brakes.

The scenery is breathtaking.
The scenery is breathtaking. The visitor centre on the main street is useful and friendly. You can drive up to the Church , iconic photographic opportunity.
We visited in September, not very touristy at this time.
Its a relatively small place with a couple of shops.
The drive up and backon the Georgian Military highway is not an easy journey, lots of lorries , you quickly learn to overtake them on bends.

It is a good get away if you are looking for hiking, good views and refreshing greenery. We enjoyed our stay as we were looking for exactly this. The weather at the end of aug/ starting September is a good time to visit.
We loved the view, the terrace, and the room itself. While Kazbegi is not about chilling in the hotel room, it's a bounty to return to the cozy warm room after dozens of steps in the mountains. There is a place on the second floor, where you can have tea or coffee and warm your food, sit back and relax, and also another terrace to watch the night sky above in the comfy something. The design of the entire place is just perfect. Wish you the best, the Misty Mountains Hotel team🤝
The cabins were super comfortable and quiet. They are about 15 min away from the central square of the town and shops, and restaurants. Nino prepared fantastic local breakfast and even a special bread for St Elias's day which was delicious!!!The owners were always around for questions and requests. They were very hospitable and helped us a lot with questions about what to do in Kazbegi and how to move around. I hope we can visit again on our next visit to Georgia!
Loved the place and the view from the hotel. Sophia is the best host I've met so far. She is so sweet and always ready to help you with anything you might need. Everytime I had to confirm something I googled about I go to her (which was a lot) but she didn't seem bothered and was always eager to guide us. Loved the hospitality. Felt like a homestay. If I ever visit Kazbegi again I'll stay in the same place no doubt.
This hotel has the best view of Kazbegi and you can see the top of the mount kazbeg and greg trinity church from their garden.
The Staff is very helpful and friendly and they made our stay comfortable with our few months old baby.
Excellent breakfast.
All restaurants, markets, money exchange and tour guides at 5 mins walking distance.
This is a fully furnished apartment with a hotel quality beddings. Very clean and affordable. There is a washing machine and A well equipped kitchen. The owner is friendly and always ready to help. This is by far the best apartment i stayed to with a very affordable price.Thank you Gio-Nika.Hope to comeback here again soon.
Everything! Literally Everything! Probably, the best hotel in kazbegi with an amazing backdrop of the mountain. Absolutely loved our stay. The food, I must mention it. It is the best we have had on any vacation trip ever. I cannot tell you how delicious everything was to eat. Loved our stay. Loved it to the core.
We stayed only one night in this hotel with some friends since we were roadtriping to kazbegi.
Although we booked last minute on booking.com, the host was very welcoming and we had a great night.
Also, if you have time to take the breakfast, they serve homemade cheese and a very nice Georgian breakfast.
You can't really complain about anything when you see that view of Kazbegi mountains! Get the best experience of the countryside life, where water is only available from 5 PM, cows, horses, sheeps etc. freely walking on the streets !
The hotel itself is very well located at the top of the mountain.
One of the best hotels we stayed in Georgia. It's a pity we couldn't say longer. We occupied the two rooms in the upper floor and it was like having our own apartment with kitchenette. The terrace was fantastic, the beds comfortable, the pace was clean and the host very nice. I really recommend it.
Our best accommodation in Georgia so far. Stunning view of Mt Kazbegi from front verandah and great view out the back. Big, spotless rooms. Fabulous kitchen and washing machine to use. Lovely female owner and daughter. Perfect location; easy walk to town. Can't recommend highly enough.
Very nice location, the view is stunning! Located on the north of the town, about 15min walk to the market. 3min walk to Rooms hotel(where u can get lunch&dinner). The host was very friendly, we communicated with the translator (Georgian and English), she was always willing to help!
Very clean place with amazing room views. You will start your day with a hearty and delicious breakfast that would fuel up your adventures in the area. But the best thing about the hotel are the hosts, now my friends for life. Georgian hospitality at its finest. Thank you!
A very new hotel located in the best place possible with a spectacular view of Kazbegi mountain. The staff are really friendly and helpful, a very nice restaurant with exceptional breakfasts. Highly recommended.
Milky Way hotel is new and very clean. The rooms are in good size and have a wonderful view. Georgie was always there to help and answer our questions. I will definitely go back if I come again to kazbegi.
This charming family-run hotel was great value for money. They swiftly responded to all my requests. A coffee in the hanging egg chair on the porch with a view of the Mount Kazbegi is a thing to remember.
The host is incredible, the hotel facilities are new and very clean, the host is a old women that works everything in this small hotel in this great place, this is actually my best stay in Georgia!
Good value for the money. Freshly and nicely renovated family hotel, super friendly hosts which is kinda norm in Georgia but anyway. Beautiful Kazbegi view. Staying here for the second time.
It's such a lovely small hotel. Very clean and new, and the staff were very very sweet. If we visit Kazbegi again, we'll definitely stay at the Travel Inn Hotel.
