There are several pleasant walks from the town.
There are several pleasant walks from the town. Head out to the Venetian lighthouse and beyond and find the moving memorial to the Italian soldiers killed on the island. On the promenade spot the loggerhead turtles eating the fishermen's cast off fish. Pleasant main square and shopping street, and loads of cafes and restaurants. Buzzy place and friendly.

Argostoli is an attractive port town with a picturesque bridge and some excellent restaurants - our favourites were Momento for seafood and the Captain's Table for lamb kleftado. The huge turtles where the fish boats dock were an added attraction. The town is a great base for touring Kefalonia! Staying at Twelve Suites was perfect, with the wonderful Athina to consult for local recommendations.

We were looking for a quiet place to stay, after some busy travel time. This place was great. I imagine it is more active in the summer months, but we were looking for peace and quiet. Lots of restaurants nearby, though we chose to cook quite a bit because we've been on the road for a while. There were a couple of things we would have like to see (Archeological Museum and Botanical Gardens) but they weren't open yet. That's okay. We come to Greece in the off-season and know what to expect.

It was our first time to Kefalonia, so weren't quite sure what to expect.
We wanted to stay somewhere busy and real, rather than a purpose built resort, so we chose Argostoli. Our first impression was that it did seem quite rundown, especially along the front, but we very quickly changed our views and saw the place for what it is - a busy, working town which was what we wanted. The first night we walked a short distance from our accommodation and soon came across the main square and the numerous streets leading from this which were filled with bars, restaurants, shops, entertainment and that was it for us - we were hooked!! Argostoli is an amazing place, there's lots to see and do, you can visit all the different resorts and great beaches really easily by bus or taxi (if you don't want to hire a car or bike), it has great nightlife, lots of shops, and lovely restaurants serving all types of food. There's plenty of fast food & takeaways if you just want to grab something quick to eat and there's loads of coffee shops. We didn't get chance to do a boat trip or see many of the sights as we were only there for 4 nights, but this is something we definitely want to do on our next visit to the island. Give the place a try and I hope you love it as much as we did!!
-Very spacious room with absolutely everything you need and a large balcony.
-Quiet location just outside of Argostoli (8 mins drive) and close to some of the best beaches.
- Cleanliness of the room. Room cleaned every day and towels changed every two days
-Angeliki is extremely kind and helpful. She provided a lot of useful tips and made our stay enjoyable.
If you are looking to spend a nice relaxing week close enough to the main attractions of the island, this is the place for you. Car is necessary.
Everything was fabulous. Anna our hostess was extremely helpful and always on hand to give tips about which beaches and parts of Kefalonia are worth visiting.
Super clean and neat studio with a choice of two balconies.
The hotel is located very centrally in town. Airport bus was directly behind the hotel.Close to the main square and pedestrian shopping lane. Close to the port and the main bus stop to other island villages on Kefalonia. Supermarket on our doorstep!
Absolutely fantastic stay!
The owner family is welcoming, kind and helpful. The apartment is spotless, spacious, cozy, and it feels like we are at home. It is cleaned every day. The kitchen is also well equipped with coffee maker, toaster, microwave, kettle, washing machine etc. It has one bedroom and a living room with a sofa bed, a bathroom and two balconies. Ideal for families. It is not far from Argostoli by car and it is a good base for exploring Kefalonia. The surrounding is a quiet residential area.
Great location close to lovely beach with bar. Other beaches are also within walking distance. Plece is great for the families with kids, no stress from cars. Shop a tavernas also very close. 10 minutes walk and you are in Argostoli - capital town of Kefalonia with many gift shops and tavernas. Michael (manager) was extremely helpful and kind. He was available 24/7 to help or give an advice. We would love to come again.
Very comfortable stay, ideal for exploring Kefalonia. Violeta and her family are amazing hosts, they told us many tips to help us make the best of the 10 days we spent on the island. She was also very caring and accommodating of our schedule, preparing an amazing breakfast each morning, even if we were late. The location is perfect, close enough to Argostoli while avoiding the cramped feeling of a city
The best hotel we’ve stayed at. Absolutely incredible. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Already thinking about our next trip at Canale. The hotel is beautiful and clean but the staff is what truly sets Canale apart from every other luxury 5 star hotel. The staff is absolutely incredible; kind, knowledgeable and always ready to help. Will be recommending Canale to all our friends and family.
The location was perfect, very close to bars and restaurants, as well as some of Kefalonia's most stunning beaches. The host was incredibly helpful and friendly, and the rooms very clean and comfortable. Above all, the views and private beach available made this one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Amazing stay.
King A makes a great base for exploring Kefalonia, whether by car, boat or coach. It is walking distance to many good restaurants and cafes, the port, the ferry to Lixouri, and the bus station, and a short taxi ride to many nice beaches. The owners and the staff were extremely attentive throughout our stay.
The bed was really comfortable. Really nice view of the harbour from the balcony. Mini fridge provided, along with robes and slippers. The breakfast was amazing! So much choice and such good quality - the best breakfast I have ever experienced at a hotel! And the staff were really lovely and helpful.
Only stayed for one night after a late flight. Hotel was clean and bright, rooms simple, functional and clean. No breakfast offered, but coffee shop and restaurants nearby. Also very close to the harbour wall, where we were delighted to see turtles in the morning sun.
Loved the hotel!
My stay in Kefalonia Grand was absolutely amazing even for a night.
If you want to offer yourself a night in luxury, you are definitely in the correct place.
Clean room, friendly staff, breakfast freshly made and served at the table.
I liked the fact that the host was trying to solve all issues. Whatever I asked it was taken care off.
The bed was great and huge. I had the best sleep in Kefalonia with this mattress. Overall a good experience.
The views from the balcony were great and the pool was really lovely. Nice location and nice to have breakfast at the hotel down in town, short drive or long walk. Really nice welcome treats. Will recommend.
