Uniquely situated on the quiet, green Margaret Island in the heart of Budapest, the modern Danubius Health Spa Resort Margitsziget offers free use of its large spa area, an indoor and an outdoor pool,...
Score from 1068 reviews Very good
The Danubius Health Spa Resort Helia can be found right on the banks of the Danube river across from Budapest's Margaret Island and features great fitness, spa and conference facilities.
Score from 979 reviews Very good
Built in wonderful Art Nouveau-style and opened in 1918, the impressive Gellért hotel shares the building with the world-famous Gellért Spa, on the Danube riverbanks, at the foot of Gellért Hill.
Score from 1895 reviews Good
On the banks of the Danube River on the Buda side of the Arpad Bridge, facing Margaret Island, the Aquincum Hotel Budapest offers easy access to the center of the city and a large spa area on site.

Nice SPA with long opening hours, very good wifi, location ist great
spa zone excellent, great view from the room, staff polite, great atmosphere
Both gentlemen at the front desk were extremely polite, friendly and helpful. True professionals that deserve to be praised for accommodating clients in the best way possible. Unfortunately I do not know their names. Silvana Medoia
The double bed had a very small blanket that did not cover the bed, looks like it was a blanket for a single bed, I could have used a bigger one.
Good attitude to clients, the hotel interior, spa.
Not cosy room. Rather old furniture and bathroom.
it's much better than what review says.
We were amazed by how the staff welcomed and treated our dog, it was a fantastic experience in such an elegant hotel. Everyone is very helpful and polite, the hall, dining area and fantastic violin music at dinner created a memorable atmosphere.
Our bathroom wasn't cleaned to a standard you would expect from a 4 star hotel. We came across hair and stains on the floor. Spider webs on ceiling. Picture on wall 45 degrees out?! I would also expect an elegant hotel like this to have proper toilet paper. Our roll looked like it was extracted from cardboard, and needless to say it felt the same way, too! For over 80 euros a night (excluding breakfast) this is a no go.
Access to the thermal facilities and treatments next door brilliant. Also cool to be on an island in the middle of the Danube
Requires a bus and a tram at least to get into Buda or Pest centres. Taxi back about £10 if you wish the last bus
Situated very closed to city center
Everything need to be renewed. The hotel and furniture is very old. Old fashion could be nice, but it is too used, old. You could smell it..
Went in winter, the season in which the island 'treasures' are probably not best explored. But I think this is a great place in summary. - Staff was great.
- Hotel room a bit 'worn' - Spa a bit worn (but good!)
The hotel is in a lovely and quiet area, the staff is very helpful, very clean. We had access to the thermal baths included in the price, which was a great plus. Overall very happy and would be back again.
Location, facilities, architecture, rooms (although too hot at first, until central heating turned down). Staff generally helpful and friendly. Almost everything was just right.
Restaurant prices and much of the food, especially the breakfasts and buffet. Restaurant band - I didn't like the music they played or they way they come to the tables.
Locality on a beautifull island, retro atmosphere, phantastic spa
prices in hotel restaurant are ridiculously high
room size and slinece of the hotel was perfect. staff were very polide and helpfull. spa area was great
Good location cheap
Bad mattress no free wifi in rooms Thin walls (we had very loud neighbors:( )
Fantastic hotel, great surroundings. Spa/welness of high quality. Staf very adequate and professional. Rooms very clean. The food is excellent, top chef, no doubt !
No bad things to say.
The Spa is included in the room price, good wifi. Perfect view to Danube river, comfortable beds.
The beddings are very thin, when we are there, we need to ask for extra blanket. Toilette could be cleaner, and bathroom door could be cleaner from inside. Very expensive parking, 9 Euro/day. Last year was gratis for hotel customer.
Free access to spa facilities. The food in the restaurant was superb. Staff was very helpful. Towels and robes a bit old and frayed, but everything spotless.
To get to the centre of Pest requires a bus ride (no 26) and a metro connection. However, the rides are regular, you can buy ticket on the bus and taxi fare is not too bad(about 3 500 to 4 000 ft from centre)
Its an old property. Requires lots of maintainance.
Picturesque position on the island in the middle of the Danube. Very pleasant and courteous staff. Quiet position yet close to town with good bus service.
Have you seen the Movie The Grand Budapest Hotel? Remember the rundown, lost old glamour? You got it here. It is epic in this regard. No investment made since the date of building some time in the 18-eraly 19 hundreds, other than the out of the place communist style elevator from the 70's. The spa advertised is in another hotel actually, and it can only be attractive to someone looking for some communist retro feeleng. Better to stay in town and visit the island for the day, as there is nothing other than darkness here at night. And you cannot get anything from the hotel restaurant a mi ute after the very restrictive hours of operation.
Generally the hotel was well equipped and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful and the price was very good. The location, to the north of the city was very convenient for all the attractions on Margaret Island and also for Obuda, a fifteen minute walk away. Good public transport links meant that the rest of Budapest was fairly easily accessible - although it wasn't too far to walk to central Pest or even the Castle district of Buda.
There wasn't much I didn't like, though there was an unfortunate experience in the TG restaurant where one of the waiters tried to overcharge. I can't recall any other unpleasantness in our week long stay.
