Uniquely located on the quiet, green Margaret Island, the modern Danubius Health Spa Resort provides a relaxing stay in the heart of Budapest. Guests can use the spa area for free.
Score from 927 reviews Very good
On the banks of the Danube River on the Buda side of the Arpad Bridge and facing Margaret Island, the Aquincum Hotel Budapest offers easy access to the center of the city.

The Danubius Health Spa Resort Helia can be found right on the banks of the Danube river across from Budapest's Margaret Island and offers great fitness, spa and conference facilities.
Score from 728 reviews Very good
Built in a wonderful Art Nouveau-style and open since 1918, the impressive Gellért hotel shares a building with the world-famous Gellért Spa on the banks of the Danube River.
Score from 1604 reviews Good
Free access to spa facilities. The food in the restaurant was superb. Staff was very helpful. Towels and robes a bit old and frayed, but everything spotless.
To get to the centre of Pest requires a bus ride (no 26) and a metro connection. However, the rides are regular, you can buy ticket on the bus and taxi fare is not too bad(about 3 500 to 4 000 ft from centre)
Its an old property. Requires lots of maintainance.
Picturesque position on the island in the middle of the Danube. Very pleasant and courteous staff. Quiet position yet close to town with good bus service.
Have you seen the Movie The Grand Budapest Hotel? Remember the rundown, lost old glamour? You got it here. It is epic in this regard. No investment made since the date of building some time in the 18-eraly 19 hundreds, other than the out of the place communist style elevator from the 70's. The spa advertised is in another hotel actually, and it can only be attractive to someone looking for some communist retro feeleng. Better to stay in town and visit the island for the day, as there is nothing other than darkness here at night. And you cannot get anything from the hotel restaurant a mi ute after the very restrictive hours of operation.
Generally the hotel was well equipped and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful and the price was very good. The location, to the north of the city was very convenient for all the attractions on Margaret Island and also for Obuda, a fifteen minute walk away. Good public transport links meant that the rest of Budapest was fairly easily accessible - although it wasn't too far to walk to central Pest or even the Castle district of Buda.
There wasn't much I didn't like, though there was an unfortunate experience in the TG restaurant where one of the waiters tried to overcharge. I can't recall any other unpleasantness in our week long stay.
My partner and I enjoyed are stay at the hotel. The staff we found helpful and friendly
The coffee and croissant
Just about everything else
Really nice atmosphere and superb location (Margaret Island).
*Not easy to acces this hotel (you can enter only from one side/bridge). Check the map before you start *Can be little bit less expensive
Beautiful location in park
A little far from the opera but I like walking. It is very safe to walk in the park at midnite
TV quality is not so.... install Samsung.
Poor condition of rented bicycles
You have to renovate your rooms . v . bad.
The building, the nice rooms, staff, excellent spa.
Weeds around the outdoor pool on the roof, no flower beds at the grand entrance, shame, bad, run-down impression for foreign guests.
Great jewel in the middle of the Margit Island. Easily accessible by bus n. 26 that runs through the Island, with a 15 min trip you reach the city center. I wasn't sure about how to move around the city from the island but transports are excellent. A multi-day ticket for all transport means is recommendable. Hotel services are excellent, breakfast buffet is great. I would certainly recommend this hotel as a peaceful green corner in the middle of the city.
Beautiful old building, lovely spacious spa, helpful, professional staff.
Missed the flower beds from the entrance and the roof gardens around the pools were untidy, full up with weeds! Little details count a lot! What is the management thinking??
View and breakfast
Water was slowly gettig out of the sink Omlette seems not fresh
Fantastic Spa Hotel. Location is on a beautiful island on the river Danube. The spa facilities were exceptional and the staff were informative, friendly and helpful.
The hotel is a bit too far from the city centre to walk, so a daily bus ride is necessary. Carpets in the hotel room were looking old and worn.
The staff were patient with our inquiries and we had a wonderful room facing the park. Spa was very clean and quiet. We had a great time at this hotel and I plan to stay there again. Bus 26 stops behind the hotels and it runs often. That's how you get off the island.
Restaurants very over priced and also the food was mediocre. Try other places on the Bus Route 26 line.
beautiful island where the hotel is located with a lot of nature, great spa, great bed, good price for what you get
The Grand Hotel is aptly named. It exudes an opulence and glamour of a bygone age. Superb location nestled between the Danube and the beautiful parkland of Margitsziget. The thermal spa complex and gym are first class. We would love to return on a future visit. I have already recommended this hotel to friends and clients.
Breakfast was average.
Friendly staff, live classy music in the restaurant, spa, amazing location.
The bathroom sink and tub was clogged.
Great location. Nice attitude from the staff. spacious (de Luxe) room with Balcony and classic furniture in good condition. Bus 26 or walking distance from both top and bottom end of the island. Dont miss the nightly light fountain displays at the south edge of the island.
Pools pictured - which are all at the nextdoor hotel (same owner) are not bad, but clearly of the size indicated by photographs. Breakfast is a bit crowded and not really fresh at all times, but surprisingly the rugged looking coffee machine actually delivers a spelndid drink.
it was a great location the food was great
ac broke in room but they moved us to a new room and it was great
