1) Staff is well trained: I called and went to the lobby for money exchange at 11pm, the staff is very helpful. 2) Quiet, no big noisy tour group
1) The door panels (between the bedroom and restroom, restroom and outdoor shower area) are not well maintained, there are cracks that allow light to come in 2) There is no master control switch/panel around the bed 3) The layout is not optimized: while the room is spacious, the TV is viewable only when you're lying on bed
Wonderful rooms - exactly like in the pictures but not all rooms have equal views though. The infinity pool was great and most of the times completely to ourselves. Best views to the surroundings are from the infinity pool. The grounds are beautiful and well kept.
The location is not near the center and assumes that you don't leave the hotel.

-Noisy neighbour -Noisy fridge and weird sounds from plumbing -Chattering staff downstairs in spa during couples massage which said it was a whispering zone -surprise taxes and services added onto everything so be prepared
Beautiful resort with impeccable service. Got a great massage and the breakfast was nice.
No real complaints, it would be nice if they provided free car service to nearby attractions instead of just a shuttle.
The natural setting which makes the resort a "Paradise" away from the busy city. Yet its near the city center so you can still enjoy what most tourist would like to do best - eat and shop! The friendly staff made us feel very welcomed. We had a very pleasant time at Kamandalu. Already thinking of going back there as I am writing this review. To the hotel staff at the resort, Thank you for the memorable experience.
Nothing .Just come feedback : 1. It would be good to provide another extra set of bath foam and shampoo at the outdoor bath area so that we need not bring the fragile bottles in and out of the bathroom. 2. Ensure proper upkeep of the balcony doors and safe. Regular premise upkeep will definitely help to minimize inconvenience to guests.
We loved the chalet villa. Amazing view! Ubud is to green and breathtaking and the resort totally fits in with the surroundings. The outdoor shower was pretty unique and we loved it. We loved the attention to detail as the staff often decorated using fresh flowers throughout the rooms and hotel.
The bed was awful. There were cigarette burns and holes in the sheets. They used two thin sheets with an old looking brown blanket in the middle. Mattress was hard and uncomfortable. Also some of the finishings on the walls and floors were poorly done. There was some peeling on the walls and the tiles on the floors were covered in messy grouting in the corner. Not something that should ever be expecting from a hotel with a 5 star rating. There was also no fitness center at this resort. Other than these few flaws, everything else was fine.
We enjoyed the spa. The view of our villa was spectacular. We had dinner at the restaurants which was excellent. The staff was very kind. The hotel is located near to the forest street area, in which you find many good restaurants.
There is no gym in the hotel.
The breakfast, the yoga sessions, the view on the forest, the space in the rooms
Minor things: slow service at the pool, a bit limited menù at the restaurant, very cold water of the pools
Everything is almost perfect with this hotel, we had our own villa, the rice terraces, the pool near restaurant and the infinity pool.
Breakfest too basic. Shuttle pick-up point from Ubud Center incorrectly pointed on the map ( we thought the pickup point was Neka Gallery) so we missed the shuttle.
Absolutely love this place! Beautiful place and delicious food!
Super professional spa Very nicely decorated & spacious rooms The design of the hotel Guided activities Breakfast
We had a dinner next to the pool and food was very disappointing
I liked the atmosphere of serenity, the architecture and the gardens well kept.I liked that it was not a new resort.all staff was most wellcoming and pleasant. This was my second stay and It felt like coming home.
The water in the toilet was dripping sometimes and it seemed that it was not an easy problem to fix.
In the heart of Ubud but remote and private. Awesome location and amenities. Spa is great and extremely reasonably priced. Like most places wine is expensive.
Shuttle was not frequent enough but it is an easy and inexpensive cab ride.
This was our second visit to Kamandalu and we had another wonderful escape. Excellent Staff, helpful and polite. The breakfast is amazing with freshest of fruits, pastries, eggs any way you want and many more dishes. Pool facilities are clean, large and luxurious. The Kamandalu is only 10 mins away from Ubud, but it is down the end of a quiet road overlooking a big gully so very peacful. We had Scooters for the first 2 days then just used local transport which was easy. And the Kamandalu run a shuttle to town and back.
While staying here we used their Spa and all had Spa treatments (4 of us) - The Spa facility itself was outdated and not very exciting at all and the treatments were all pretty average, and we all felt unsure if we actually had fully trained massage therapists. The Spa treatments were really overpriced. Would not do it again. Really disappointing as the rest of the place, I love. Its a shame the shuttle service does not run later at night to collect us from Ubud. I think it was 9.30pm the last one which means if you go out to dinner you need to be finished by then or get your own taxi home.
On arrival to the hotel, it said it all when my mother (who is well travelled) was smiling from ear to ear. She said it was paradise and she cant wait to return. There was a singer from jakarta and he was amazing, very friendly always smiling and happy and an amazing voice. I am coeliac and I found that the hotel was truly fantastic in accomodating the gluten free food options. There was a little mix up with our booking on our arrival, not the fault of the hotel but the upgraded us to a garden villas and we were very pleased with our luxurious accommodation.
The only fault I could highlight was that we were on half board basis. We really enjoyed the food, 5 star quality. But I was disappointed and bewildered as to why you recieved a three course meal for dinner and only a main course and dessert at lunchtime. I enquired if I could have starter instead of dessert and was informed no. I also highlighted with restaurant staff as to why there was a difference in lunch and dinner entitlements. I was given a vague response.
Pool, yoga, spa and beautiful surroundings. 30 min. walk to Ubud centrum (shuttle bus to centrum also available). Supreme staff!
Some rooms are in a need of "facelift" - minor problems though, and were taken care of (as well as possible) when requested.
We loved everything. Better then we expected. Could not fault this place. Best resort we have stayed at in Bali and we have been here many times and stayed at many places.
there was nothing we did not like but just want to let those know who have walking difficulties that there are many steps in this resort being built on the side of a hill.
Staff were friendly and location was beautiful. A great resort.
Nothing. Resort was excellent
Nothing special. Check in and check out quite hard work.
everything, from the warm welcome, to the beautiful room, the nice restaurant and the friendly staff
Big beds , outdoor shower , big bathroom
Cost of activities, drinks etc. were high in comparison to local prices.
We Loved everything about this resort from the moment we drove up. They treated us as if we were the only ones staying and we could not have asked for more.
The estate itself is very beautiful, and fragrant with frangipani. Our villa was very attractive and comfortable. The design mimics the outdoor-indoor character of traditional Balinese houses but there was still sufficient protection from creepy-crawlies even for my wife! The staff are exceptionally friendly and genuine, and were very welcoming to our 7-year-olds. As other writers have said, they just seemed to be continually thinking of charming little touches to make us feel welcome - for example, we came back to our villa on the second day to find that the room number had been replaced with a carved wooden sign saying "Villa X" (X being our family name). Priceless. My wife and I first stayed at Kamandalu 15 years ago. The resort has retained all the best bits from then and improved the rooms (although sadly some of the paddy fields below the resort have gone). Ubud is vastly larger and busier, but, at least from the point of view of a casual tourist, has retained much of its charm.
Only minor niggles. The spa is not quite as sybaritic as some Asian hotel spas, although the massages were fine. The ladies at the front desk were a little over-concerned about getting signatures for every minor expense, and could have been a bit more trusting. But our whole family had a great holiday and are keen to return, so it would be churlish to make too much of these.
