The family-run Western Hotel is in the heart of Galway, just off Eyre Square. It offers free parking, rooms with satellite TV, and live entertainment in the Western Bar.
Score from 851 reviews Very good
Poor service in dining room, dirty carpets, out dated decor, odor of water
Design of hotel was fabulous, staff very attentive and helpful, great cocktails
It was comfortable and clean Friendly staff
The price Starters were horrible
Staff were fantastic. The Hotel is very chic and is perfect for an overnight romantic stay plus the breakfast is amazing.
I loved the bedroom. Very spacious and clean. The staff were extremely nice. and friendly.
The restaurant menu was disappointing. I had to cross the road for a better choice. My husband described the hotel as very clinical. I thought decor two dark for my liking. Would have loved to eat in the hotel as we were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary.
We have stayed in many 5* hotels around the world and overall, the only thing we liked is the proximity to te city centre.
This 5*hotel looked like the interior of a nightclub with its black walls and gaudy bright furniture. We did not feel relaxed. We disliked the dark black walls on each floor leading to the rooms. There were no windows and no natural light coming in and even our view outside was nothing soectacular. We definitely will not book a return stay.
this hotel has forgotten that it's in the hospitality business. no happy smiling staff. The up keep of all the "look at me decor" has lost it's shine a while ago. poorly maintained considering the wow factor it aspires to and the prices. The food is mediocre at best. we've stayed in less expensive hotels in Galway with more attention to detail and far better food.Won't be staying here again.
Everything Free Parking Room Bed Breakfast Wi-Fi
The design of the hotel is very original and it has real character.
I thought after paying 220 a night it was a bit cheeky to then charge us ten euros to use the spa, which is really just a warm pool and a sauna and steam room. That left a bad taste for me. I'd rather just go somewhere that is all inclusive next time.
Staff were so friendly and helpful.
It was all beautiful there is nothing I could possibly complain about.
Décor in rooms was pleasant and modern. Beds were very comfortable, as were the linens.
On arrival receptionist was cool and unfriendly..We were meeting friends who we recommended the G to and were booked for a week. I had just come from the Westbury in Dublin, and the" G" is certainly not five star what we were expecting. Overall, place looked tired and furniture was shabby. Buffet breakfast was dreadful, waiter service was a little better, we cancelled diner reservations based on that. Staff could be better silver service trained in both dining and beverage areas, and it may improve overall five star experience! Pity, as Galway needs this type of five star location and venue. Overall, place needs updating and a good shake up. Four star rating is what I'd give it.
Facilities and Concierge support
Breakfast buffet could be reacher
Staff, location and cleanliness of hotel
Dark, barely lit hallways
Gspa room service reception at gspa very nice
Waiter Staff were ignorant reception staff wernt very welcome
I loved everything, from the decor to the cosy soft bed! The staff were lovely and could not have done any more for us. Great stay will be back!
It's a little overpriced but probably still worth it! Get down early for breakfast, slot of the selection was gone at ten
It was spotless and very modern
Expected bigger room and bigger bathroom for the price
Really enjoyed our stay bed very comfortable, used the spa found it extremely relaxing, the treatment room was a little on the cool side if I was to nit pick.
Food was exceptional for breakfast and dinner. Very clean spacious rooms
Air conditioning unit failed but they upgraded us to a suite thereafter.
Genuine top class hotel and facilities
Located in a retail park, slightly too far from the city
Rooms were lovely and decor in the hotel was nice, staff were also lovely.
Hotel didn't have a pool and being located in an industrial estate was strange.
Nice friendly and relaxed atmosphere
The lounge areas were stylish and relaxing to sit in for a drink.
I thought that the service didn't reflect the standard of the hotel. We had to ask for our table to be cleaned after dinner as we remained in lounge for a few drinks afterwards. The breakfast in our room was lovely on our first morning but not as nice the second morning. I think that when you're playing over €200 per night you should get 100% and that both service & quality are consistent.
The service encounter with the staff. All well trained, professional and friendly. Breakfast offering was of good standard.
In its efforts to be packed with character, the hotel actually had very little. The use of colour, moods and light were to be commended but it just felt like a furniture show room.
We liked the hotel from the minute we set foot in the lobby on arrival until departure.
We have to say nothing to dislike!!!!
The style and luxury and beautiful design of the hotel is second to none. The whole place is a feast for the eyes!
The prices of drinks and food are high.
