It's a hotel in the middle of nowhere, there is gravel road to it. The view from the hot tub is lovely and we really enjoyed our time there.
The person at the reception was very helpful and they provided us with bath robes for the hot tub. Maybe these could be already in the room to make it a bit easier, we had to ask.
There was a hairdryer in the bathroom and a small bottle of shampoo/body wash. The floor was heated.
The room was quite spacious, TV with a few channels and also Amazon Prime, which was a nice touch and we spent out evening watching a film.
Situated a 1-hour drive from Reykjavik, this hotel is located 250 metres off Route 1 near Borgarfjördur Bay. It offers free Wi-Fi and free private parking.

I thought I was booking at a place that served breakfast. There was not breakfast. Nothing. I had to get in the rented car and drive to a neighbouring town to eat.
This hotel offers relaxing outdoor hot tubs, an 18-hole golf course and activities such as whale watching and snowmobile safaris. Reykjavik and Snæfellsnes National Park are a 1-hour drive away.

The bed was comfortable and the room seemed clean. There was a young lad at reception at 1am who was lovely and managed to resolve a noise issue that we were previously told wasn't fixable.

The first is its stunning position.... from the kitchen we enjoyed a fantastic sunset over the icy bay. memorable. Then the apartment: clean, beautiful and comfortable, the furnishings are really particular and gives a cozy atmosphere. Car parking is just outside the door.

The local pool was lovely - we went in the evening, so it was dark (I really like this).
There was a local cafe/bar that served some great value meals - the lamb chops were sublime.
There is a lovely friendly vibe in Borganes, and I would highly recommend putting it on your trip.

It is a bit run down but it is quiet and the beds are comfortable. Like most of Iceland in our experience, the pillows could be better. Hot pot, coffee, tea, cream and sugar are provided, which was nice. There is free parking, however I can imagine at times it may be hard to find a spot as the lot supports the restaurant as well. We had dinner at the restaurant, food was good and the portion was large.
In a nutshell, this is a decent budget accommodation, with a restaurant on site which makes it convenient. If you plan to eat at the restaurant, make a reservation before 5pm. They were able to squeezed us in without one but there were many who were not as lucky.

Borgarnes is underrated as it doesn't have any bucket-list sights. It's a mid-size small town by Iceland standards, but it's got a lot to recommend it - it's a very typical Icelandic place, and one with a variety of landscapes and bay views.
The Settlement Museum is overpriced (as most Icelandic museums are), but even without a visit there, Borgarnes is a good place for walking. It also has some decent to excellent eateries (the Bara bar and restaurant in the heart of the town is outstanding, and even the N1 station cooks up some of Iceland's best meat soup.)

Beautiful views. Lots to do and see.
Beautiful views. Lots to do and see. An area with a lot of history. A good for both people who like to do independent activities and people who prefer guided tours. It is the place of viking settlements and the sagas. There is a Settlement museum to learn about it. Waterfalls and a la a tube cave you can take a tour of.

We had a few hours here on the way to the Basalt Hotel. Car parking was free. There was a pathed route to walk around the coast. We had coffee and lunch at a wonderful place called Blómasetríð - Kaffi Kyrrð. We sat outside in a beautiful courtyard/garden. The food was excellent and the staff were polite and kind.

Drove by car from Keflavik at 10 AM - visited Akranes lighthouse and nice museum - had great vegetarian buffet lunch in Borgarness - at a vikkingmuseum.
Drove to our hotel and then to the KRAUMA spa and we had dinner there.
Next day we drove to the waterfalls Barnafoss, then to visit the lavagrotto and took over the highland on the road 550 back towards Reykjavik. Great tour!
Fjola and Jon were outstanding hosts. Our apartment on their farm was a haven for our stay near Borgarnes. Views of the surrounding fields were great, and such a nice change from city hotels. The apartment had everything we needed, including a filter coffee maker. The weather turned overnight, and roads were closed the next morning. Fjola kindly informed us of this and offered that we could stay longer, which was very generous.
Great hotel, really clean and spacious rooms. There is also a sauna outside, which is really cool!
The owners are really nice. I hurt my foot just before arriving and they provided me with everything I need to treat it.
The place is well located, quite far from the city so it’s nice if you want to try to see the northern lights (we were lucky enough to see our first northern lights after 10 days of road trip).
This is a lovely place to stay for a few days: 3 if you choose the hotel rooms, more if you choose the cabin. The beds were very comfortable in both places, the owner extremely pleasant and helpful, the location great to visit the surrounding areas, the breakfast fair and full of local products, and the area very quiet. I really liked my stay there, and if I go to Iceland again I shall rent the cabin again.
This hotel is a gem! Centrally located and easy in and out access to the peninsula as well as other attractions. The rooms are HUGE and the staff was amazing! It has a lovely bar for an afternoon drink. An in house pizza place and a wonderful breakfast. Fresh bakery bed and pastries as well as anything else you could want. I would highly recommend this place!
Very good value - we had a 22h layover in Iceland, and we were able to rent a car and whole trailer cottage for cheaper than staying at a hotel closer to airport. It was an easy drive with nice views. Great place to sleep before next days flight - we also drove a little more to look at views in the evening. Cozy and functional, with a view to mountain tops.
our hosts were friendly and warm, welcoming us to their home. Our accommodations were impeccable, they even prepared the hot tub for us when we arrived back late from a day trip. Breakfast delicious…authentically Icelandic, down to the home-caught smoked trout and homemade blueberry jam!
Cozy room. The room was quite warm through the night. There is a kettle and coffee/tea. Beds are comfortable enough. There is a restaurant downstairs and a small parking lot outside. Close to a few restaurants and a small cafe. Borgarnes is a very pretty and cute little town.
The location was perfect. The room and bathroom comfortable and clean. Breakfast was alright, could have been better. Parking outside the hotel was alright, and two very nice restaurants with a walking distance. We didn't try the restaurant at the hotel.
Spacious room and equipped kitchen with small fridge. Near Route 1. Nice bathroom and clean. Good communication with hotel. Arrived late no issues. Parking in front. Good value for money. Scenery area.
Very easy and flexible check-in and check-out. The cabin was clean and well equipped. The biggest advantage of this place is an opportunity to walk outside the farm and pet sheep or Icelandic horses.
Very helpfull staff. The hostelroom is located in a fancy hotel. Very beautiful interior. For that price... Best price-quality I booked in all Iceland. Good beds, nice food at the restaurant.
Really friendly host in a beautiful location. Borgarnes is a great base to get out and discover this part of Iceland. The accommodation is a real home from home place to stay.
The view out behind the guest house was beautiful as was the town. The spirit of the town is one of the things we really liked about Iceland. Very childhood supportive.
