We stayed at the Antica with our 8 months old baby girl. We got a great room on the 4th floor. The room was very spacious and clean with very nice river views. the breakfast on the roof top was excellent with huge variety also offering nice views of Florence. The staff was extremely nice and helpful, it started with them being so nice to our baby girl (they even put some baby toys for her in our room!!) and continued with good recommendations for restaurants.
We liked everything
Antica Torre is a well situated hotel in a medieval tower. Lower floors in the building are occupied by businesses. The real highlight of the hotel are the roof patios and bar. Views and seating are stunning, great bartender, a very special place to spend time. We had a very small but comfortable room, with a great view and quiet sleep. We were offered at first a room that looked over a construction site, but were quickly offered something different when we said it would not do for our 4 night stay.
Extremely poor Wifi. Slow elevator. Staff were fine and friendly but not particularly inspiring. The breakfast buffet was a bit much, with every food you can imagine spread out in an overly busy buffet table. I would have preferred a smaller more thoughtful offering, but perhaps it is a crowd pleaser. One morning we had very little hot water.
We liked everything about the hotel; the room was big, nicely decorated, beds and pillows were just right, their was lots of choice for breakfast and with the ability to sit outside was lovely and the view of the river. The rooftop terrace is also a good place to relax with a cocktail as well. Excellent location for getting around by foot.
Our 2nd stay at Antica Torre and it was as good as our 1st . We love this little hotel, it is perfectly positioned, on an elegant shopping street, right next to Santa Trinita, a few metres from the River Arno and just a block from Ponte Vecchio. Antica Torre is stylish and elegant set in an ancient medieval tower. Our room, a Classic double ( 402 ) was perfect, comfortable with wonderful bedding and a lovely compact bathroom with a large shower and good amenities. Antica Torre's rooftop terrace is sensational...the views over the river, to the Duomo and to the surrounding mountains are simply breathtaking. Enjoying a cocktail while watching the sunset over the Arno, and then into the evening is a sensational experience . Breakfast is excellent, a full cold buffet with Tuscan specialities, and with a few hot options and superb service. All the staff are warm, welcoming and so helpful. Staying at Antica Torre is a real treat ....we hope to be able to return one day.
Nothing at all.
The people were so friendly and helpful with anything we needed I.e. arranging tickets, transport, and dinner recommendations. Our room, in the updated tower, was very spacious. The windows blocked out the noise of the revelers. The hotel contains the old world charm from when it was a private palazzo. Very nice breakfast and fabulous views from both terraces.
The terrace is fantastic and so is the breakfast. The rooms are large and clean
The reception staff are unfriendly. The other staff were lovely
Two rooftop decks provide magnificent views and a wonderful place to relax. Rooms and baths were great, location perfect, breakfast bountiful and staff helpful and charming.
Elevator and wi fi both were slow, but who cares when everything else is great.
We loved the location. Quiet, tucked away yet close to great restaurants, The Uffizzi, The Arno and walking distance to all the museums and more. The balcony bar/lounge area is amazing with a wonderful view of the Domo and Florence. The staff was very helpful, kind booked great restaurants for us. The room was large, quiet and comfortable.
We didn't like the elevator so we walked up 5 very long flights of stairs to our room--great exercise but a challenge after a day of Florence site seeing. There is an elevator but it is small and slow so we preferred to walk. The room was nice but not luxury, the single beds were narrow not uncommon in Italy but some hotels have better. You have to realize Florence is expensive. I have visited Florence twice and each time stayed at a different hotels. Both hotels were nice but don't seem like great values. Anica Torre Di Via Tornabuoini is very nice but not a great deal for the money.
The rooftop terrace and breakfast room.
Great location right on the river, walkable to all main sites. Lovely room. Breakfast buffet was amazing!
Poor wi-fi connection in room.
Location. Size. Coziness
Wifi is weak.
Hard to find, no name outside Hotel, expensive, poor value for maoney, lack of staff, there was only one person on duty during our whole stay
Wonderful location, marvellous helpful staff, generous size room. We loved thus hotel. The terrace rooftop was perfect. I would recommend this hotel highly.
There wasn't a thing we didn't 't like.
The staff was excellent and extremely accommodating. The views on the roof top were gorgeous.
Great breakfast , excellent service from the staff
The staff were really warm, friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is superb: it's a short stroll to the Ponte Vecchio. The roof terrace is amazing. I would stay there again in a flash.
The Wi-Fi was a little slow! Everything else was perfect.
As above Beautiful terraces with beautiful views, enjoyed at different times of day and night and all day father we had checked ut of our room. Complementary tea and coffee Staff couldn't do enough to look after one's every need
There wasn't anything I did not like about the hotel. The rooftop views were spectacular. They have 24hr access to two different rooftop lounge areas. One that had an honesty bar where you could grab an evening nightcap. The staff was so informative and spoke perfect English which was a plus for us. I believe he was an American that moved to Italy. He took us on a full tour of the facilities and assisted us with the bags. He arranged the pick up and drop off of our vehicle and provided a map with his personal recommendations for dinner. The room was very nice with an extremely large bathroom with tiled shower. This was by far the best overall hotel that I stayed at. The others had their charm, but this one had the best views. If you are planning a romantic getaway, I would highly suggest you stay here. It is located in the higher end shopping area and about a 5-10 minute walk to the cathedral. The Ponte Vecchio approximately a 1-2 minute walk. The location, amenities, and staff exceeded all expectations. My only regret is that I only spent one night in this hotel before traveling home.
This is not a dislike, this is just informative. There is nothing wrong with this hotel! If you use your GPS, you should know that the address is a duplicate. The building numbers start over on the other side of the river. When you arrive at your "destination" take a left at the light/bridge. The hotel is just on the other side of the bridge, but you cannot cross the bridge because it is a one way. Once you take the left, you will come across another bridge on your right (next available right). Cross the bridge and continue into the city. Make a right down what looks like an alley and continue until you reach a large opening. This is a no drive area, but you will be able to access the hotel and the consierge will arrange the pick up of your vehicle. You will know that you are in the right area because there is a tall statue in the middle of a open cobblestone area surrounded by stores. Once you come out into the open area turn right back towards the river. You cannot miss it because most likely there will be barriers that will not allow you to go any further. The hotel is on the right. DO NOT go back accross the bridge if the barriers are not up. The hotel is at the end of the block prior to entering the intersection leading to the bridge. I hope this information helps. Depending on which way you come from this information may not be necessary. I just know my GPS was very confused while locating this wonderful hotel.
View and breakfast
Lack of ac
The location, the outdoor terrace. Excellent personal service such as helping us making a dinner reservation at our request in a very short notice as our flight was delayed for 4hrs.
The WIFI didn't work at all for the 2 night we were in despite I brought this up to the hotel staffs since e very 1st day. Nothing was been done, not even after I mentioned this during our check out. We had to incur high data roaming charges to settle our flight booking becuz of this...pity
Excellent location and rooftop terrace with unbeatable views.
Parking not great and getting to hotel was not easy...got there in the end.
We loved almost everything about the hotel experience. It is a beautiful hotel with a great staff in a wonderful location. The breakfasts were fabulous and the availability of an Honor Bar in the evenings was very convenient. The view at sunset from the rooftop is exceptional!
The Wi-Fi was not working very well while we were there which was a HUGE problem for us! We had several, extremely, important situations that required an internet connection in the late night/early morning (so you could not easily find some place else with wi-fi, because of the time difference as they were transactions taking place in the United States). There was also a strange situation when the hotel closed their most beautiful rooftop patio for a private event and 4 women that I guess were working the event were freshening up, putting on make up and fixing their hair while using all the tables and the entire area in front of the bar for an extended period of time... it was really, very, strange!
room size terraces service
The roof top terraces on the 6th floor are the reason to stay here--and they are worth every euro you pay. My friend and I had one day in Florance. We could have gone to see the "sights" and stand in long lines for hours just to get in--or we could sit on the hotel's roof top terrace and drink in the sight of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We opted for the terrace. We loved it so much we didn't even want to leave for dinner--we just ordered off the hotel menu and had the bartender bring it to us. As night fell, the duomo and tower were lit up and floated like visions above the darker roof tops. When standing at the edge of the terrace, looking down, we could see the lovely glow of the square outside our hotel's front door, complete with elegant statue and above, the duomo dome lit up--truly a site we will never forget. The drinks on the terrace were actually quite good, too. We love dry Italian wine in general, but the great mojitos were a wonderful surprise as well. When in Florance again, we will stay at this hotel for sure. We will plan our budget to accommodate the higher-end rates because that money is going toward the terraces and that experience is one in a million.
The bathroom was a bit strange. The sink had a very small counter so there wasn't much room for toiletries. The shower had a hand-held sprayer that could only be put in a holder that was waist-high, so it was hard to stand under. The other option was an overhead "rain" type shower head that totally soaked your head which was a problem when trying to take a "cool-off" shower in the middle of the day without getting your hair wet. The "seemingly endless renovations" mentioned in Fodor's is still going on. They were working directly above our room from 9:00-4:30 week days. That sort of cramped our style, as we'd perfected our schedule to include getting up go out on the town, getting hot and sweaty in the July sun, and then taking a shower and a nap--no nap at Antica Torre di Via Tournabouni! But with the terraces, who cared? Every minute sleeping would have been a minute away from the fantastic vision of Florance from 6 stories up.
