a wonderful place with so much to do - the sacre monte, lots and lots of historic gardens, in walking distance the Villa Panza with amazing art and gardens - have lunch there it is fabulous. Also just staying by the pool with its views is amazing it's a shame it closes it 7pm - it really warrants longer hours.

Despite traveling to Italy yearly, I had never visited Varese until now. I was initially hesitant to stay in Varese since I needed to be within an hour from Milan for the Salone del Mobile, but I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the city. Varese was vibrant both during the day and at night, with a plethora of excellent restaurants and cafes to explore. Its proximity to the stunning lakes of Como and Varese was also a huge plus. The sight of the snow-covered Alps provided a picturesque backdrop that made Varese even more special. The charming cobbled streets in the city center were lined with pretty buildings that showcased the history of the area. Although we only stayed for two days, I could have easily extended my stay for a week or more.

Varese is a great location for "lake hoping", where every day we saw a different lake. I recommend two restaurants: The Hotel Colonne and La Vecchia Varese. Both have excellent and authentic food, with friendly staff and wonderful service.

We traveled to Varese for 3 days to see the Sacro Monte located a few miles outside the town - part of a self guided tour of these unique sites in Lombardy and the Piedmonte. We ventured into the old town in search of a restaurant one night which was pretty frustrating - mostly bars and fast food in that area, so we ate at the hotel the other nights. The town is a mixture of beautiful older Italian villas and awful 1960’s and ‘70’s apartment buildings - kind of a hodgepodge. The areas in the hills around Varese are lovely with beautiful views.

We were passing through.
We were passing through. By bike we made a great tour into the mountains. Varese itself is not too interesting: just a rich-peoples city with good restaurantfacilities.
You can visit the lake(s) for a swim, you can bike and walk in the mounrains.
The location is perfect for an overnight stay when traveling to Italy further down south. There's some great bars and restaurants nearby at walking distance, and a bit of ambiance in the streets so you don't feel isolated. We were happy that our rooms were not on the street-side, so we didn't hear any noise from the bar below the hotel.
Breakfast was incredible, especially for Italy. Bacon, eggs, good coffee, a selection of pastry and cakes, orange juice, etc.
The location is excellent. Gianpiero and Alessandra waited for us at the railway station, the communication was great.
They helped us with everything from ordering our food on arrival to making the reservation at the restaurant for the next day (my birthday). The apartment was warm and cosy, water and wine in the fridge, coffee, tea, pasta, biscuits and some other things were waiting for us. Varese Prime was the best apartment I have ever booked.
Simple but well equipped rooms.
When I arrived at the hotel, despite it being late afternoon, the room was not ready and I had to wait for over half an hour while running late for a wedding.. Nothing lethal but that's not the purpose of booking a room.
Not very central in Varese but its a 20min walk to city center or a 10min trip in bus (H). I think its still a good quality / price ratio.
It’s a nice hotel, with decent rooms and SPA. the SPA is rather small considering the size of the hotel but well conceived, can get crowded easily. Breakfast was nice with good variety. The location is fine, close to the city and Lake Maggiore. However Lake Varese is practically unexistent and the hotel is close to a busy road. Satisfactory overall for the money spent.
Very nice, cozy place to explore northern Italy (namely the Sacro Monte di Varese - which is very beautiful) + Lugano.
I rented a car and found it very convenient to visit Varese and Lake Como area (short stay), though there are a few other places worth visiting here.
The hosts were nice and accommodated a special breakfast request.
Would go again and recommend.
huge hotel, surounded by nature. good parking area.
good breakfast. only one employee in the breakfast room. she did an amazing job, speeding around to clean tables, supply food and help everyone. nevertheless, maybe management should find at least 2 employees for breakfast, especially when groups are accomodated in the hotel.
overall: great hotel to stay.
It is an old, aristocratic yet beautifully renovated hotel on top of a hill, surrounded with trees and an amazing view to the lake of Varese. The room was big and comfortable. The restaurant of the hotel also excellent. Breakfast was also fantastic. It provided gluten free options as well. Provides also free but guarded parking.
Amazing hotel with its own unique vibe, liked this place a lot. Old furniture from 19/20 century.
Really recommend this place for a stay.
Amazing view from the room. And from this village itself.
Great and helpfull staff.
We also stayed for the dinner with candles, romantic atmosphere.
LOFT10 was perfect. LOFT10 is very centrally located with respect to shops/restaurants but also a good location for getting out of Varese on bikes. Olga, the host was very helpful. The apartment is really nice and has everything you will need.
We very much enjoyed the authentic decor of the hotel,
located on a beautiful mountain with a view over the
city of Varese. The staff was lovely and the diners were
excellent!
Located in the center of town, this boutique hotel is perfect. Beautiful room with a balcony and a large bathroom, parking space and nice breakfast. Perfect for a city break
The location of the hotel was near everything; the staff was so pleasant and helpful; the rooms were spacious and very clean; the breakfast was plentiful and delicious.
