It’s the small things that really make or break a place. In this case there were too many things on the wrong side of the page, for us, to make it a "special" place to stay. No one thing made us decide not to return to this hotel. It was the multitude of small things that added up:
-It felt like the personality and charm had been erased. That may not make a difference to many travellers who are simply looking for a good clean place to stay. This review is for travellers who are looking for a special experience.
-It’s a 15-20 minute drive to get to Assisi, which would be fine if you were having a true countryside experience, but this is not that place.
-There were 4 flights of stairs to the 2nd floor as there is no elevator, yet there is no one at the hotel to assist with luggage. Several hotel employees stood and watched us as we struggled with two very heavy suitcases. There were no offers to help.
-The wi-fi was very frustrating. We were assigned a different login and password for every device and then we had to constantly sign back in every 20-30 minutes.
-The bathtub plug was almost impossible to open, the bathroom door was almost impossible to close, there was no phone in the room, not even to call the front desk, the safe didn’t work and when we requested that the front desk try to find the key to it we never heard back from them.
The exterior of the building was beautiful, as were the grounds. The inside was fine; clean and in order.
