Score from 179 reviews Good
wonderful room, very nice pool (clean and big), cocktails are very good (and nice atmosphere in the lobby in evening)
expensive restaurant. far from center (15 mn tuk-tuk)
This is a GREAT hotel! The staff, the food, the rooms---wonderful. However, there is NOTHING around it. Once you're there, you're in for the night. It is quite a ways out of town. That being said, the place is gorgeous, although a bit over priced.
Location, view, staff
Smells in some rooms specially the under ground rooms and hotel not clean like other 5 stars hotels
The location and the hotel furnishing
Not really an issue, but the number of tour groups made it feel like my husband and I may not have booked this hotel if we had known this, but still not a major issue
We spent 2 nights in Kandy and we liked the hotel so much that we spent most of our time there. The lobby and the pool area are great with stunning views. The food was also excellent!
Ambience, cleanliness and comfort outside busy Kandy
The singers and the corridor noise
Felt like a tranquil retreat from the bustle of Kandy. The pool is stunning and the hotel tastefully laid out and furnished. Breakfast and evening buffet were very good, food in Cafe C also good but not amazing. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Apparently drivers quarters are not so good (our driver made his own arrangements). We liked being out of town but solo travellers may find it inconvenient.
The surroundings are excellent and good for newly married couples or people looking for some solitude.
Rooms at down-level do not have access to lift system. So climbing up is a tedious job, especially for people with knee problems.
Lovely rooms Friendly staff Food at the Cafe C Swimming pool
indifference by some chefs at the main restaurant room service menu is very bad and not flexible
Worst room we had on our round trip of Sri Lanka You need to ask for a room with a view of the river and away from the restaurant We had the noise of crashing plates coming through the air con unit
Rooms were spread out among well kept gardens with trees and lawns. The lake had nice spots to sit and absorb nature, including a wonderful tree lookout.
Hard to find out about things, eg price of breakfast. Another guest said that there was a 7am Nature Walk but I could not find it. After breakfast I found that I could have had it by the lake.
It's a very pretty hotel and location. The lounge opens out to the pool, and overlooks the river. All of the rooms overlook the river, and some the pool. The rooms are spacious. The chef walked with me to each of the stands at the dinner buffet to tell me what I could and could not eat as I cannot eat anything with wheat in it. He even ordered the cook who was grilling the fish to clean the grill and grill me up some non-breaded pieces. For dessert, he told me to sit down and that he would go to the kitchen and bring me a selection of things I could eat. He was super kind and I was very grateful.
Noise, the walls and the doors to the hallway must be paper thin - we could hear the neighbors next door and the children up and down the hallway. It is too far from Kandy town to be able to walk around town and have easy access to the restaurants and sites there. Next time, while I really enjoyed my stay there, I will definitely stay for at least a night or two in a guest house in Kandy town (too). Also, in all of the guide forums they tell you that your hotel will be able to get your tickets to the Perehera Festival (in early August). Luckily our driver was able to get us fantastic seats because the hotel never answered my emails when I made the reservation and inquired about tickets and when we arrived they flat out told me that "no" they do not have tickets to sell to guests... and NO alternative or suggestion was offered to help us find tickets, which I found shocking and rude.
Great pool and location along the river. Very good breakfast with so much choice. And a beautiful bar and lobby. Lobby menu affordable. Relaxed for young kids.
The music at night... Interesting for sure... But ambient style would suit the beautiful bar area better.
The front office staff were very unaccommodating particularly the reception staff. Rooms are dull and poor and stuck in the 80's. Not good value for money.
Clean and comfortable
Staff we're very accommodating. Breakfast was delicious.
I had booked a deluxe triple room for two nights through booking.com but on arrival it was a standard room with an extra bed stuffed in the room.no place to walk in the room even so i immediately complained n refused to stay.their guest relation manager was sweet enough to upgrade the room.Rest of the stay was fantadtic.
The initial discomfort which i just related.
Everything !! The location and facilities, service etc
great food, great staff, gorgeous views
Big screen in the lobby so we could watch an important match in the middle of the night. Great lobby with view and direct connection to the large pool with stunning view on the river. Services of staff was more then adequate. Very kind and pro active.
The location was amazing! Staff were very friendly, the pool overlooking the river is beautiful! We had an excellent time and the staff were really great and helpful with our energetic 1 year old, especially in the dining room!!!
Location & the staff except the reception
Staff at the reception wasn't so friendly. The booking we did they couldnt find. Luckily they found a room for us. When we checkout I asked a staff member at the libby for a juice for my little kid however he didnt agree sunce its only for checking in guests. At last he offered it.
view was amazing
friendly & attentive staff, wonderful mountain & river views, very good food & night time entertainment
hotel is old and facilities are quite dilapidated
