Great location for sea-lovers.
Great location for sea-lovers. Many opportunities for snorkeling, SCUBA diving, and whale/dolphin watching. Boat riding is available in both calm and rough waters with beautiful landscapes. The sand is very tiny and comfortable for feet. The sea is mostly quiet during the season, probably from May/June to September. Many varieties of seafood dishes are available at affordable prices. To get the best experience, should spend at least 2 - 3 nights. There are options for a lively and exciting atmosphere, adventurous experiences, and also for relaxation at the calm and quiet beachside. It is advisable to do a background search on the prices, facilities available, and the safety of the services offered to get the best experience.

Old Cemetery was well maintained and the grounds keeper let us know where the two graves of the Australian's were. I travelled with my father and he likes war history so we checked it out.
The fort and the temple at the top of the hill from the fort was good. Great views of the beach ane cliffs.
The Maritime and Navel History museum was ok for 100 rupees and something to do. You can go onto the roof to get a view of your surrounding. The people there were nice and helpful. I didn't see the other museums.
Pickme worked here but was a bit more expensive.
I didn't go to the beaches but I heard they were a bit average.
I had some issues finding a place to eat. Both restaurants that had good reviews that I wanted to go to were blasting music (Seafood club and Island Flavours). Not my vibe.
I stayed a night on my way to Jaffna. It was good to check out the east coast but a night or two is enough.

Okay thats difficult but I had a total different idea about trincomalee. I thought it would be smaller, less Busy and somehow more tranquil. I know it's hart to jugde a place by expecations ....but I Expectet something that has more touristvibes. I went there in Dezember so not the best time to go ..but I had the feeling of beeing the only tourist. I could not find mutch nice restaurants, that are createt with an eye for beauty and a bid cozyness. Trincomalee Beach is full of Fisherboats, thats pretty but to be the only tourist plus female let me skip the Idea of an beachday. So if u kow Sigirya or pai ( in Thailand ) and u expect something similar ( like I did) then no,I could not find that. If u are Looking for a more Real and local beach and town, then I guess it's the right place to go.

It's all about the beach - among the best in the world.
It's all about the beach - among the best in the world. Beautiful coral sand. A gradual slowly increasing water depth allowing you to walk out gradually for about 35 metres. Clear clean water (Sept.-Oct.). Trincomalee town is much like others in Sri Lanka - worth a visit, but maybe just once. Two main beaches: Uppavelli (close to town, with lots of good food options). Nillavelli (further north, good if you want more isolation, fewer food options, a substantial tuk-tuk ride to town.

Trincomalee is one of the best places in Sri Lanka.
Trincomalee is one of the best places in Sri Lanka. Snorkelling is fantastic and the town has a Indian feeling. I stayed in Uppuveli where there is a great cafe on the beach..cafe on the 18th. Recommend eating at restaurants: Rice and Curry, ubay, Nina.
We had a wonderful 3 day stay at Blue Wings.Probahh and his wife Wiji did everything they could to make our stay comfortable .The breakfast and dinners were amazing with a variety of meals.
Probahh organised a scooter for me within an hour of our arrival which enabled us to get around easily.
The beach was just 20 meters away where we could take a swim and relax.
The hotel is in a quiet non touristy part of town which was what we liked.
Would definitely recommend staying if coming to Trincomalee.
This complex although a pricey choice for Trincomalee, it has everything you'd need to have a relaxing time. The room was lovely and opened up onto a beach and hotel staff make sure it's clean and tidy. Breakfast buffet is amazing, has options for local and western foods. Staff are very caring, helpful and friendly. When we were not happy about ordering room service dinner that was brought to us cold, but they brought us a replacement dinner free of charge and we're very understanding about it.
The amazing cabin is on a quiet and beautiful beach! One of the best ones to our opinion in trincomalee. You have private sunbeds. The hosting family is very kind and friendly. Breakfast is delicious and huge! The host offers great trips around the area with fair prices and we took the dolphins sighting! We saw many many dolphins and even 1 whale! We also hired bike from him. Definitely recommend the place. Good wifi!
I stayed here for 6 days last week.
I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The 3 guys who were running the place, could not be more helpful. Everything you want, they were there, any help, any advice, always with a smile on their faces too.
Pros
AMAZING staff
One of the cleanest hotels I stayed in, in Sri Lanka
20 seconds walk to the beach
Cons
I didn't stay long enough :)
The hotel was very new with a simple and pleasing design. The rooms are large and clean. It is less than five min from the beach. The staff (manager Vilmar in particular) was very warm, welcoming and helpful. He answered all questions happily, was easy to negotiate room prices, and once went and paid a driver when I didn’t have the right amount in local currency and I paid him the next day.
I stayed at the hotel for one night. The hotel impressed me with its large green area. The room was clean and bright with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was amazing, very tasty and varied. It was very nice to sunbathe by the pool in the evening. The staff is very responsive and friendly, always ready to help. This is one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka that I have been to.
Staff was very attentive and eager to fulfill every wish we could possibly think of. Food was delicious, Bungalows and garden areal as well as the beach were amazing. Furthermore we fell in love with the small dog "Samba" who came and greated us whenever we stepped a foot our of our front door or came home from a daytrip :)
One of the best coffees we had on Sri Lanka!
Highlight of the hotel for me was the pool. It was a great size and very clean and well maintained. The hotel overall was spotless and the staff did everything to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The location was great for access to the beach and the best of the beachfront restaurants. Well worth a visit
Great design with the best bathroom of our whole trip. Our host was very welcoming and helpful. It’s just a few minutes walk away to the beach where you can find a great cafe and bar as well as relax next to the sea. We walked along the beach into Trincomalee too from here.
I think this is the most wonderful hotel in Trincomalee. The hotel is just close to the beach and sea view is superb. Rooms are clean and spotlessly clear. Specially the host is very kind and supportive. We wish to come again. I recommend this hotel to everyone.
Friendly and courteous staff, great location in the small city of Trinco. Also has a nice little almost-courtyard worth mentioning. Other than that it's just a simple no frills hotel where you can expect no major issues ruining your stay.
Good budget rate rooms in a modern building. Located in the heart of Trincomalee Town. Walking distance to main bus stand, shops, beach and even the fort. We enjoyed our stay. Will book this place again if we come to Trincomalee again.
The property owner and his wife were very hospitable and friendly, helped us to arrange a scooter rent, made good breakfasts. Hotel and rooms looks tidy. Overall everything is great, you fell like home there
The location on the beach the staff were great and helpful we stayed for 4 days and would have stayed longer
The beach by the hotel was clean the water very clear easy swimming
Great location. Two minutes walk to the beach. Room and bathroom were always clean. The garden was beautiful. They were very helpful and the mother was very kind.
