As per the 'like' section, nothing amiss at the hotel, but the town appears on life-support & nothing doing in the evening. All the restaurants, there are few in February open, are over-priced & the quality average at best. Never saw a pure bar or pub or tavern. Hopefully the town blooms in spring-summertime.
In most other European cities, this place would be considered fabulous, but Liepaja is not a cosmopolitan centre, but a city coming to terms with its past as an ex- Soviet base & the aftermath of dying industries. But from the Turkish manager to the cleaner & waitress to the wonderfully (individually) decorated rooms, it's a ray of sunshine in a generally spartan landscape of closed shops, shut buildings & general lack of social life. Otherwise, everything at the Vilhelmine is just fine & great value for money. There are more expensive options in Liepaja, but none better.
