We stayed in the suite, which is quite nicely decorated, complete even with a skylight filled by a beautiful Moroccan lamp. The furniture was all quite nicely done, and the bathroom is full of mosaic tiling, giving a very old world feel. The breakfast was a pleasant continental meal, served on the rooftop, which itself has an amazing view of the medina. Casa Elias is located at the top of the medina, maybe a 2 minute walk from the main square. Perfect location. The staff are great. The lady speaks French, but not English, but is very sweet and has no problem trying to overcome the language barrier, and the owner speaks great English, so it's not really a problem.
The bathroom had a slight mildew smell to it, which was due to the plaster molding on one of the walls. Not really anything that can be done about it, I think, though, and it's unfortunate, because the bathroom is quite a neat part of the room.
Perfect place to stay in Chefchouen,cozy...cute..you feel like you visit your family! Staff is very welcoming, price is good and in the morning breakfast on the roof was amazing!
In winter time, its little bit cold, specially in the night, fortunetly there was double blankets and heathers in both rooms. In one room the bathroom area was smellin bad, wasnt so good to take a shower.
terrace, breakfast served in the room, staff
- facilities in bad conditions, no window in one of the bedrooms in apartmant
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location
Twin beds were hard
Comfortable and clean Riad, good position for visiting the village. Nice breakfast. Useful heater to warm the room!
Staff were very very helpful from Halimah the housemaid to Ilyas the owner. Breakfast was basic but satisfying served on the roof with nice views of the Medina. The hotel is about 5 minutes from the main square. We were allowed extra time for checkout as our bus was leaving later in the afternoon. Great place would definitely use again.
En suite Toilet was smelly and there were no proper windows in the room. I also found the roof skylight annoying. If someone was on the roof then they could look into the room. However I don't think anyone did.
The hotel/apartments Casa Elias is a lovely welcoming place to stay. The apartments are centrally located in the heart of the medina in a lovely and well cared for building. There is a roof top terrace with views of the medina and the surrounding area. Our accommodation was a nicely furnished two room apartment. You enter to a well equipped kitchen with a small refrigerator, stove and sink. Flatware and cutlery are provided. There is also a closet, table for two with chairs. A wall with two open niches separate the bedroom from the kitchen. The bedroom is small with two twin beds and a good size window facing the medina that provides good lighting and ventilation. The comfy beds have clean linens, plenty of blankets for the cold winter and fluffy pillows. The room also has a television with Arabic speaking channels. The en suite bath with shower is small, but it does have a separate shower stall with curtain. Everything worked; sinks in bathroom and kitchen, toilet, shower, fridge, stove and electricity. The apartment was clean and everything was well maintained and cared for. Wifi connection was strong and good. Hot water was plentiful. To say that Omar and Elis are gracious hosts is an understatement. The brothers are very nice and accommodating. They show great pride in their apartments and building as this is also their home. The location of Casa Elis is fantastic. The apartments are in the heart of the medina. Shops, restaurants, the main plaza, patisseries, fruit\vegetables\bread\olive stalls and hikes up the maintain are all within a short walk of the hotel/apartment door. The noise level is very low in the medina at night and sleeping was not a problem. Positives - Location in the heart of the medina. The apartment layout and design was much better than expected. The Rose apartment set up is perfect for two people. Roof top terrace offers a fabulous view of the mountains, medina and surrounding area.
Points to consider There is no parking at this hotel since it is located inside the walls of the medina. You must park at the Parador Hotel's parking lot just outside the medina and walk to Casa Elias. It's not a long walk if you know where you are going. Parking fee is paid directly to the attendant (10 dirham per day). The lot is busy and it's safe. We had no problems with our car for two nights. A tip for the brothers Elias and Omar- When you receive a booking acknowledge your guest by replying with an email. In the email ask your guest if they will need parking and\or directions to your hotel. If your guest is arriving by car email the guest information on where to park with directions to the Fortuna Hotel and the 10 dirham fee per day fee should be paid directly to the parking attendant. To make your guest's stay more pleasurable schedule someone from your staff to meet your guests at the Parador hotel parking lot to assist with luggage and walk your guests to your hotel. These suggestions in no way take away from tbe lovely experience we had at your apartment hotel but this small gesture in service will differentiate you from the competition and will only add to your already beautiful apartment\hotel and service.
Beautiful place. In the center of medina in Chefchaouen.
the car cannot go into the medina. Everyone have to climb up for 5munutes, with lugguage.
Location excellent. Host charming and helpful.
Beds were hard and sloping. Ventilation was very poor and kitchen facilities could be improved with a little effort. Location and hodt were great.
Fair room rate Plenty of space in our room Breakfast included
Didn't like the drug dealer hanging around outside the place trying to sell us weed and other substances. The exchange rate used to charge us was not correct and the lady collecting payment didn't really understand - in English, Spanish or French. We overpaid by a little - which I don't like when shopping on price. It feels like bait and switch behaviour behaviour.
The staff was very kind!! When my husband got sick, they took care of him and gave him a herb tea. It was really effective. I appreciate for them.
Location was great, staff was good.
Would have been much better is there wasn't such an awful septic smell in the bathroom. Bathroom was filled with files to the point we couldn't use it. Bedroom has no window in the lower bedroom which made it difficult to spell with the septic smell. Other bedroom faces medina street which is loud at the time.
The location was a little difficult to find on our own, but with a little help we found it only a few minutes walk from the taxi stand. The staff were very friendly and were able to do our laundry right away for a small fee. The room was large, and clean. This was the only place we stayed with a fridge and it was so nice to have cold water on hand. Being near the top of the hill, the rooftop terrace has an amazing, unobstructed view of the whole town, and the sunrise at breakfast, and sunsets are quite breathtaking. The wifi worked everywhere in the house, so it was nice, at the end of a long day, to sit on the roof terrace and have a quick skype home :)
Our room was pretty dark, even with all the lights on. We had a skylight and one small window which faced a wall. Of course, we didn't spend much time in our room so it hardly matters. Also, the breakfast was much less varied than the usual riad breakfasts we'd been getting everywhere else.
The roof terrace is the best thing about this hotel, was very nice to sit and relax here... The staff here were also very friendly and good with us... The location was also very good, in the medina and close to the main square!
One chicken constantly clucking throughout the night!!!
Great location, friendly, and amazing roof terrace.
Beds are not comfortable, and you hear everyone else´s conversations through the door and walls.
Great location near all the places that you should visit in the city, very clean, the staff help us as possible they can, the best thing in this hotel is the terrace at night it give you a nice view of the city , the rose room was beautifull and alive whit the colors of the walls, the hotel is one of the things that will make me go back to this magical city.
Some noises at night and the early morning.
Great location in the beautiful medina of Chefchaouene. Great terrace with amazing view over the city. Good breakfast. Nice and helpful staff.
Location, but it will be loud view from the roof deck the host was nice
The booking.com description clearly says there's air-conditioning, there is not, apparently there might have been a fan but it was broken. It was hot and with the windows open over the medina walkway it was loud all night long. The kitchen smelled horribly of sewer, and there were dozens of small flies that seemed to multiply as we watched. The beds were rock hard. It was very inexpensive, so if you want a low-cost stay, have low expectations.
Very friendly stuff. First time when we only came it was difficult to find hotel. But only first time. There is covered parking near hotel it was very confortable for us that is why we was on rent car. Tasty breakfast))
Great location Helpful service Clean and good value for money. Enjoyed sitting on the terrace and looking out over the city. Overall a very enjoyable stay
Very good place to stay, the owners were very helpful with everything.
The best place we stayed in Morroco. Perfect location near the main square and easy to find (if anything can be found easily in medina). The room was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. Good breakfast served on a terrace with great view. Friendly and helpful staff. Everything was perfect!:)
Good location, super view from rooftop terrace, quiet area, good breakfast. Good for 1-2 nights! Terrace is small barely enough room for 3 couples to have breakfast. Lady cook very good friendly!!
NO kitchen in this suite as listed, poor air circulation , no windows, no natural lighting ! Talked to the owner 5 mins when we first arrived, then it was managed by his bother! He was Not there either for when we left, paid to the cook, no way to discuss a better price!! this place is way over rated and over priced! Information about the suite is false No kitchen !! Felt like we were in a basement bedroom!
We had a very pleasant stay in Casa Elias. The apartment had everything what we needed, recently renovated, comfortable, hot water available all the time. The location is also great, in the beautiful medina, not far from the main square. The nice breakfast was served on the rooftop terrace with amazing view on the mountains and town.
Kids and youngsters playing on the street in front of the house during the night were a bit too noisy time to time.
This place is gorgeous... difficult to find, as is any place in a labrynth, but local people were more than willing to help us find it (of course we gave them some money for the help). I really loved the hotel and I love Chefchaouen. I wish we could have stayed here longer. Everything in the hotel was great.
