I'm an American volunteer providing non-lethal support for Ukraine during the current conflict. Like all of Ukraine, Kharkiv is under a US "Level 4 - do not travel" restriction, but I've had no issues.
There are air alarms, but if you are conscious of your environment and make good decisions, you will be fine. It's all about statistics and luck.
The people of Kharkiv are warm and welcoming. Trsnsportation in the city is working - metro, bus, Uklon, Uber, etc. The food is wonderful and the prices are low by western standards.
I particularly enjoy the rynoks (markets) throughout the city. You can find anything from car parts to soviet memoribelia at very reasonable prices.
There are many volunteer opportunities in the city and I can't wait to get back - I am at the end of my 3 month tourist visa and am applying for an extension.

I move through Kharkiv regularly in my capacity as a volunteer and aid donor to Ukraine. Kharkiv pre-war a beautiful city like most large Ukrainian cities. Kharkiv at the moment during the crisis is a different city totally, very different to Kyiv or Lyviv where for the most part life goes on and everything is open and functioning. The current Kharkiv has lost its soul slightly in that many have left and not returned, it is very quiet and deserted in many places and there is still extensive damage to the Northern suburbs and even in the city centre. There are still regular air raids and regular shelling and attempted attacks from Russia, but people are trying to get on with life. So if you wanted to explore a beautiful city at a time when it is less congested, probably a good time. Please don't let my comments deter you, as any tourist dollar is needed and people need to also see visitors as it gives them stamina and resolve knowing people have not forgotten. Kharkiv is a big city and spread out over a large area, it has two real contrasting sides, one which seems quite industrial and the other a mix of modern and old historic structures among parks and greenery. As for amenities, Kharkiv still has all you need operating at the moment and you can get very good deals on accommodation given the current climate.

Kharkiv is a city for Youth!
Kharkiv is a city for Youth! A lot of young girls, students, international students make it EU city like and even more. Very good fine dining as well as casual spots ) Cheaper then Odessa (a bit more expensive as Lviv) I did not expect to be so authentic in the downtown (but clean)

Kharkiv is not really a touristical city, but that is just the interested point about it!
There are many interested places to visit, prices are affortable, many places for eating and drinking. Also, nice parks, in the city or not too far away.
Yes, you can spend several good days here!

Shevchenko Garden Park which surrounded the Nemo Hotel-
was delightful. Loved the clean, manicured grass, the outdoor fitness
equipment , the wonderful stairs leading down to more fountains.
Sumskaya St is fascinating. Filled with all kinds of shopping. Leading
to the main square. Kharkov has a definite , young vibe with all
of the college students out between classes. Endless coffee shops,
and where else does coffee sell for less than one U.S. dollar?

Nothing very nice and interesting to see or visit, but a quiet and safe place, a lot of good restaurants, quiet parks, very low prices, good people, etc.
Download an App for taxi...or walk! Public transport very low cost...
ENJOY!
During my previous stay back in 2019, I complained about the poor noise resistance in the room. The hotel staff did everything to ensure that your sleep is not disturbed by any kind of noise and provided me with a set of earplugs. Also, the pleasant thing to get was the free access to Spa zone in the morning time. The breakfast was scrumptious with plenty of fresh fruit, juices and sweet stuff. The view from the window was good enough and one is able to see the airfield.
The breakfast was great. And the location was great too. The staff was wonderful and very professional. The hotel is very modern and clean. The hotel and staff are very pleasant and helpful. Our group trained in the conference room, and this room was also very well maintained, which made for a very pleasant training experience. I highly recommend this hotel, and I will return here again.
The reception of Mr. Artur was very friendly & helpful. The public transportation, the market, the supermarket, the pharmacies & all accomodations are very close. I recommend this apartment for everyone wants to stay shortly in Kharkiv, I guess it's the best choice.
No breakfast but everything else was great the lady in the desk Sasha was more than helpful , offered wine welcoming drink her working was the best loved the overall although some misunderstanding happened but they helped me in everything else superb .
The location is perfect. It's close to the university and there are two parks close by that can easily be traveled to by tram. It's a cosy hotel and has a retro vibe. Nothing luxurious but spacious and definitely worth your money.
The host is a very kind woman, so it has been an enjoyable moment to stay here. I had a problem with water supply (in Ukraine it happens quite often), but she provided me several bottles of water for my needs.
I got to see the excellent manager, Marina, after four years away from Ukraine. You can tell she's the best boss the front office staff has ever had. And the chocolate eyes, and the warm smile...
Reception staff were very friendly. Breakfast was as nice as you’d expect from a hotel of this category and price. View from the top floor rooms was wonderful. Rooms were really comfy.
The hotel was in a quiet location and the environment was very good.
Also. Shopping is also convenient because it is close to the market.
The reception of the staff was excellent.
Multiple secure entrances, warm rooms, comfortable bed. The receptionists were all helpful. I would recommend this hotel to others if they were staying in Kharkiv for a few days.
Location is central, yet hotel is located in a quiet area further away from the main street. I liked cleanliness and comfort of my room and very professional staff.
I have been traveling to Kharkiv since 2016. The first and mostly club city hotel, where I prefer accommodation. The hotel deserves the money you pay.🇺🇦🧿👍
