room was cold, radiator was loud, limited TV. Parking cost to high. Upgrade was not up to par. Coffee pot in room. no coffee.
Quiet. Very nice, friendly atmosphere with breakfast and five-o-clock wine in the quiet old fashioned lobby. Very friendly staff. Spacious rooms in the SF center located hotel.
The Staff is great ,The hotel is in a good location, and the Hotel is very clean and comfi.
Location Christmas tree
Faded grandeur... Too faded
Very friendly staff. Great location.
Carpets were dirty. Furniture needs upgrade.
1. Old fashioned 2. Classy 3. Wine & Cheese in evenings 4. Spacious rooms and bathrooms
1. Breakfast was too sweet. No meat or eggs. 2. No self service coffee machine and/or water boiler in room
breakfast is just ok, but after 4 days you get tired of the same (no many choices), big room and comfortable, elevator
the worse is the smell of the hotel and the carpet, in the lobby, corridors and rooms. staff were totally no willing to help with anything. a bit far from Union square and uphill, so consider that if you walking back late in the night.
The room was very comfortable. The location was great. Breakfast was very good.
Wifi in our room was 'iffy'. Could really only use wifi in the lounge/reception area.
The lobby is gorgeous. The room was very nice and big. Love the Victorian look.
The heating unit would make loud noises so had to turn it off. Could hear street noise very well, but realize it is an old hotel which makes it quaint.
Location was fine, three blocks from Union Square. The staff was very nice and friendly.
Room was not maintained as it should be. The bed was done properly, but the carpet did not experience vacuum cleaner for some days.
Location about 5 blocks from Union Square on fringe of dingy neighborhood but felt safe walking day & night [always vigilant of surroundings regardless of location in SF]. Used public transportation to hotel. Parking prohibitively expensive in our opinion.
One bed seemed small for two of us, probably a double. Next time will request king or twin queens as seen in neighboring room [with 4-poster beds] and large bath with double sinks. We had small bathroom, single sink, tight quarters but spent little time in room anyway.
The breakfast consists of muffins, pastries, fruit, and coffee, and that's really all I needed. I would fill up my travel mug, have a muffin, and walk out the door. Everything worked out really smoothly, and this made it easy.
The internet doesn't have much bandwidth, but at least it's there and functional (and free).
Very elegant old building, Unexpected round of wine and cheese at the end of the afternoon
Not enough tables for breakfast
comfortable beds, spacious room, good location, decent breakfast
shockingly slow internet, musty carpets
The Happy hour every day
Beautiful building with the old world touches. Very helpful staff. We had a junior suite which was wonderfully spacious.
A bit of a walk to shopping...but was good for us but might be a challenge to older people.
The location and price are great. The wine and cheese evening is also nice. The front desk, concierge and valet are wonderful.
Bathroom facilities and bed is dated. Clean but old. No thermostat in room (it got warm). Car took 45 mins to retreive - only one party in front of me.
Size, breakfast reasonable for the room charge in San fransisco, housekeeper responds very fast
Extremely noisy, front staffs not helpful and courteous at all, weird smell at the lobby
The double room was amazing. Both room and bathroom were clean and big. Very good room for an affordable price!
Breakfast is not that good but they serve coffee and some muffins. The hotel is in the city center so not really quiet.
Very well placed, very friendly and helpful staff, we felt welcomed at all times. It may be seen by some to be a little dated but every thing was clean, comfortable and working. Not only was our room very quiet (and large) but even in the public areas there was calm and quiet. Nothing seemed too much trouble and the wine and cheese afternoons were so relaxing. Would I stay again, without a doubt.
Noise. No Wifi in room.
Excellent friendly staff, beautiful room. Beautiful wall pictures, beautiful lobby. Spacious room, comfy bed and pillows
Needed some extra blankets in the room. I was cold at night.
Beautiful old hotel near Union Square and Nob Hill. They serve complimentary wine, cheese and snacks in the afternoon as well as breakfast of pastries, fresh fruit and coffee and tea. Valet parking is reasonably priced for the city and free wifi as well as comfortable beds and big bathroom. Most all staff were super nice and helpful.
Front desk staff at checkout was rude, inconsiderate, incompent and really quite hostile.
The location of the hotel is great and the staff is very nice. The hotel has a great deal of character.
The hotel is a little on the older side and has a little bit of a "funky" smell and no A/C. We were also not told about a breakfast and happy hour that were available and only saw it when we walked by. Also, the beds were short-sheeted every day - this is a giant pet peeve with me.
Poor Breakfast WiFi only working in the lobby and not always
