Old fashioned windows that poened properly!
On fringe of Tenderloin district. Fine if you didn't walk down Jones to Market.
Spacious, clean and comfortable.
quite a walk to the pier, loud noise construction outside the windows...
clean, the 4-6 wine and cheese in the lobby, valet parking
The room was poorly lit, the furniture was falling apart, the only heat in the room was a small radiator in the corner, there was only a thin blanket on the bed but the worst part was the noise. You could hear every step and door closing times 5
The fresh fruit and pastries in the morning was very nice.
we have stayed here several times. Convenient location for shopping and great restaurants. Staff were so helpful
The friendly and ALWAYS helful staff
breakfast is a little simple.
a little old but very good place, easy to union square, cable car, wifi is good, bed is comfort
No bad experience, just wish that I had had longer to longer the Beresford
I was fortunate to be upgraded, and could not believe the standard of the accommodation for the amount paid
Bed wasn't the best. Jets in the tub didn't work. Small smell in the hallways, but minor problems, especially since it is a historic building.
I liked the price for the area! It was just a short walk to Union Square where all the hop on and off buses were at. It is technically in "Tenderloin" area, but it is on the good side, which is called "TenderNob." Because it's in Tenderloin, but on the other side of the street is Nob hill, which is the waaaay better part of San Fran, so the hotel was fine. It smells a little weird/old, which it is old, but it's not too bad. The breakfast, which was fruit, pastries, tea, and coffee... was GREAT! Those pastries were soooo gooood!! They also had wine and crackers in the afternoon but we were always out and about, we didn't get to get that, but it's a good added bonus. The room was old and we had a bathtub with "jets" but they didn't work, again, probably because it was old. The bed was okay, I have an awesome bed at my house, so I could be spoiled, but the bed was not too comfortable, but it wasn't a big deal.
My room on the street side received a lot of traffic noise and the sun. No A/C meant living with traffic noise in the evening when opening the windows to cool the room.
The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was spacious for the price, very clean and comfortable.
We were at street level and it was very noisy. They was no breakfast room, instead everybody was sitting/crouching/standing in the (once surely impressive and beautiful) lobby and eating breakfast, (pastries and fruit only).
Our room/suite was enormous.
No bread for toast & cereal even though it was free
Very helpfull staff ,friendly
Elevator can be slow.
Wine & cheese Social . Great coffee and breakfast selection. All included.
Parking was an issue. Was told to "pull up to the door and the valet will take your car...". Well that wasn't the case. When I asked at the desk the man there said he had to call the valet and it would be 20-30 minutes till he got there. Well, the ONLY place to leave the car in front of the hotel is a NO PARKING ZONE. I was a bit uneasy about just leaving my car there but it work out. On exit, car was ready and waiting when requested.
Very European atmosphere. Friendly staff. It ain't the Hyatt but it is very clean and comfortable.
If we travelled here again i would stay at fishermans wharf where everything was happening. The wifi didnt work properly in our room and it hadnt been cleaned properly (mnms on floor from last people)
This place was gorgeous!! Staff were also very friendly and helpful and it was in a good location to access union square
ran out of fruit at breakfast before 9 am. not good since breakfast was fruit and pastry.
friendly and helpful staff and size of room. wine and cheese hour is a nice touch.
Not in the best neighborhood (therefore, I received a good price). The door only had a hand lock -- and not a deadbolt. One of the windows did not have a lock. I didn't feel completely safe.
A lot of things in our room didn't work, the parking garage around the corner is cheaper than what they charge.
Good location, the valet staff nice and more professional than the front desk.
The acoustic is poor. I can hear every walking step of the guest above my room all night - up to 2:45 am. The spa which was the selling point of Junior Suite (to me at least) does not work.
Location is fair as it is within walking distance to Union Square. Wi fi is free at room and also lobby. Computer available at lobby for free use.
Nothing about this place did I like
The quiet wine hour and good service.
very outdated. no AC in my room (junior suite) the hot tub was a little small but perfect for 2.
very cheap for the location. historical building. no nonsense. just a room not really for the comfort but awesome for the price.
Older facility needing some updates
Location, friendliness of staff, nearby restaurants
Our large room had a two-sink bathroom, bay window, and an equipped kitchen. Short walk to BART, restaurants, conference hotels.
The fruit, coffee and pastries were perfect for us and thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese in the late afternoon- making conversation and meeting fellow travellers.
