The location and the lovely old style but well maintained hotel. Wine and cheese in afternoon.
The staff and the size of the room and location
Good position, complimentary wine and cheese ,
Power points didn't work, wifi slow and hard to get
Rooms were clean staff was friendly locatin was great, were able to walk to all areas
No air conditioning... Rooms were fine during our stay but may be uncomfortable I'm warmer weather
Value for money. Room we were allocated. Kitchenette.
A bit tired. No a/c so very hot rooms with windows sealed. Only one lift which is very slow.
Great location and great hotel. Great bathroom!
something must have happened in our room cause it was really smelly
its position and the spacious ness. The room was what we hoped for.
The hotel was in a great location and very clean. We were pleasantly surprised with the wine and cheese hour in the late afternoon and the continental breakfast was nice too.
It was a warm weekend so we had the windows open and there was quite a bit of street noise. However, we used the fan to mask all the but the really loud stuff. We would have liked to have a little coffee maker in our room. But the staff was willing to get me coffee at the front desk when I asked.
I like the location, the cleanliness, the courtesy and helpfulness of the staff, the price and the breakfast and snacks in the afternoon. I would definitely recommend to all my friends and family and would be staying in the same hotel when I go back in SFO.
Staff are friendly; location is central
Outdated hotel; small suites; very noisy outside; suffers from vagrants around the hotel; expensive; costly vehicle parking
Very safe environment. Large comfortable room and beds were very comfortable. Beautiful lobby and decor reminiscent of bygone days.
Breakfast included with room; but not served at convenient hours for early risers, especially not having even coffee available. (A must) Staff could be a little more helpful and friendly.
We liked the location, value for money, friendliness and helpfulness of staff and the overall feeling of the hotel
It has obviously been a 'grand hotel in its day and still has this grandeur. However, it is starting to fade and with the the current emphasis on families and package tours will quickly become shabby.
Location is wonderful, room is clean and comfortable
Good looking place staff v good
Breakfast rubbish as others have commented you are expected to sit any were including the floor as there is not a breakfast room . You sit in the hotel lobby and grab a table and chair if your lucky. It would be fairer to not offer breakfast and reduce the cost of your stay.
Staff was very friendly. Excellent value for location. Room was quiet and clean.
Internet did not work in room but did work in lobby Breakfast was nothing I could eat. It was all sugar and wheat.
Everything about our room was convenient comfortable& plenty of space. Staff were really helpful.Asked for quiet room & it was.
Lift was sometimes a bit slow
Wine, Cheese & Crackers
Room was a little musty smelling and a little dated. Upon checkout I called an hour ahead of time for my car and they lost it. Took additional 20 minutes for it to be located and brought up.
Too too poor breakfast in the lobby of the hotel for the price you pay, no dinning room for lunch nor breakfast, no help from staff, no parking, no explanations, no wifi in the rooms, plastic glasses & plates & forks, spoons, etc, too expensive hotel for the little they offer, old furniture and instalations
Older property, but our room was very nice and and excellent bathroom. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Location was so close to everything we needed.
Decoration and the quality of the renovation is very good. Room is big and spacious considering the centrally located location (just a few blocks from Union Square).
Breakfast is too simple. The hotel does not have a kitchen and can only provide buns and breads. They could have brought more stuff in.
Position and building
More seats for the breakfast
My mother and I loved the location and amenities in the junior suite.
It would be more convenient to have parking on site other than valet.
The hotel is close to Union Square, decent neighbourhood, great sushi place down the street. Wine social in the afternoon is a nice touch, as is the continental breakfast in the lobby in the morning. A little crowded at breakfast, but much appreciated way to start the day! Another great feature was the in room honor bar - amazingly reasonable prices - hard to imagine they even make any money on that, its more of a courtesy for guests, which is very nice.
Hotels in San Francisco are pricey. This was good value for San Francisco, and a safe and pleasant place to stay. Not sure I would rush back to San Fran, but that's not the hotel's fault.
Location was pretty good
Beds were very old and weathered as was the other furniture and decor
Location Watermelon for breakfast Elevator Accommodating staff
Street noise Room distribution and furniture Very simple breakfast
