Cleaning service are nice and friendly
No extra blankets available at the front desk except weird sponge blanket the water changes frequently at the shower once cold one's hot, Beds are uncomfortable and too small for two people to sleep on
While it is a bit tired looking, the staff location and comfortable clean rooms more than made up for it. I highly recommend this hotel is your looking for value and location
the staff was great.
friendly staff, cute hotel, close to Union Square
We would have liked to have a fan that when plugged in could have reached the window area. The refrigerator had a few expired juices in it.
The room was very clean and comfortable and the hotel is in a great location close to Union Square.
The water temperature in the shower was difficult to control and frequently changed between hot and cold.
everything was wonderful! Thank you!
Great location handy to transport and shops
Room too hot, not air
I loved the location and the hotel has a lovely history.
I did not like how small the room was. We had three small women in our room and we could hardly move around. There was hardly any space with the bed, dresser, end tables, tv stand, and desk. Also, the bathroom was shockingly small. When sitting on the toilet, the sink is basically in your lap. Also, there was no tub just a small shower. Lastly, there was food from the previous guest in our room once we arrived and we started out with four pillows and after the maid came, we only had two. They must have needed our pillows for another guest?
The location was wonderful. Lived how the fridge came with water, sodas, beers. Bathroom was also clean.
Beds and room were a bit small no AC, but it is a older room.
No central air
Noise level mixed with no a/c. You either open the window and hear the noise, or close the window and roast like a chicken in a massive Costco rotisserie oven
The quaintness of the hotel.
No clock in the room!!!
Location Cleanliness Housekeeping
Older plumbing Problems with heater
The hotel was in a great location for where we needed to be. The staff was very accommodating (held our luggage before check in and after check out) and made sure we had a room away from the outside noise as much as possible. Would definitely stay here again!
Location Ambiance Old world Charm
Our room was next to a very loud elevator shaft, luckily I had earplugs. Breakfast could have been a little more lavish.
The room was tiny as was the bathroom. It was very noisy being the front room facing the road and we had to have the window open as no air-con. Despite this we slept
It was in a great location near union square. Nice vintage lights and decor. Good valet parking at a decent rate.
Furniture is worn and pub next door where you have breakfast is run down. Desk staff had a hard time understanding and processing simple requests.
The rooms were very stuffy, a ceiling fan would make it more comfortable other than that we were happy!
Position was perfect to the shops and tourist areas, car rental place around the corner in Bush street, Bath room products very good quality,
Rooms were a little hot but supply a fan, a little noisy from the pub downstairs but that's part of the excitement of SF
Cleanliness of the facility
Service from reception staff inconsistent.
It is clean and conveniently located close to where our son lives, so it works out perfectly for us. We have stayed there twice now. Restaurant and bar next door is also convenient, and its within walking distance to many other good restaurants in the area.
We were there on a rather warm weekend the last time we stayed and it would have been nice to have a fan in the room like the room we had the first time we were there. Rooms small, but not really a problem.
Location was excellent, close to union square and walking distance to China town and fishermans wharf
It smelled like an old folks home, had no air conditioning, and the staff were not very attentive or friendly and the bar staff were just abrupt and rude
Continental breakfast Location Staff where very helpful The pub
I feel I got what I paid for so no complaints
Can't say enough nice things- very centrally located, friendly helpful staff, very accomodating (switched rooms for us when we asked), good continental breakfasts, near everything we wanted to see (or easy to get to transportation) and very reasonably priced. Also has an old city character that fits perfectly into SF's ambiance. Would definitely return here.
Just be aware that since no AC often one has to keep windows open and the city noises can be jarring (fire and police sirens, etc).
