Score from 2122 reviews Very good
My bathroom had a blnking flourescent light that made one nauseous. There was no remote control for the TV in the room. The room was located next to the elevator, which meant I got to confirm it was working by hearing it go up and down every few minutes. The free breakfast inspired me to consider the value of my health. I purchased breakfast at Sear's around the corner. :)
The location is very good. Guests all had the same sheepish look....kind of a," I hope no one recognizes me here hang dog faces."
Had to open window for fresh air.
Breakfast could have been more diverse. But again, for its value it was just fine.
Pretty much everything: - Location - Staff - Wifi
Had to wait a LONG time for our car when we were ready to leave, wi-fi only available in the lobby, or in a room close to the lobby
Loved the look and feel of this hotel. Extremely clean, staff were pleasant and Breakfast was up to par with most hotels, nothing special but good.
The staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms are small but the location and price more than make up for it.
As I said before, the WiFi wasn't very good. That probably had to do with the floor I was on and the fact that many people were probably using it.
I liked everything (except the Wi Fi) but even that didn't bother me too much. They gave me the room I wanted with a street view on the fifth floor. I was surprised by the flat screen TV and the fact that I had 1 cable movie channel (Encore) which I wasn't expecting. When I go back to San Francisco I'm definitely staying here again!
The reciptionists were totally unfriendly. They trat you as a begger and do not smile. They do not value their customers. They do not help carrying the luggage and the beds are totally not comfortable. A lot of noise is heard although I put Be Quite sign!! Don't come to this poor overpriced hotel!
The internet is free

Proximity to Union Square
The character of the hotel was almost Fawlty Towers-like, but I mean that in a positive way. The decor had that feel about it. The location was excellent for our needs, the staff were friendly, and although it was older, everything was very clean.
Dated premises No basic toasts, water at breakfast No complimentary water
Location Aromatic soaps
Hotel is convenient to Union Square and shopping. Comfortable room and bed. Staff is friendly and helpful. Good, reasonable price.
Just about everything
The amazing pub, the decor, the fact that it's not been 'tarted up' or over-renovated. It's clean, got tons of character, all the staff were super friendly (from cleaners to night desk staff). During my stay, recommended the hotel to all the conference delegates.
No bad experiences
Clean quiet and near everything
I doubt of the cleanest of the towels
This place has a great location in downtown and the breakfast is good
awful noise at night if anyone takes a shower in a room adjacent to yours. Lobby staff totally lacks motivation and enthusiasm: if you ask them anything they'll act like they are doing you a favor if they reply, 3 out of 3 times they kept talking among them and dignified our question with an answer only when their chat was over. Cleaning staff and porters are amazing and very kind; much more helpful than anyone on the other side of the lobby bar. We will get back, and we will just minimize the interaction with lobby personnel.
Amazing location! Clean rooms, great breakfast! Literally 3min walking from Powell Bart stop. 5min walking distance from mission and market st.
The location was perfect, Beds were comfy, the shower ran hot and we had free wifi. Yes the breakfast wasn't amazing but it's free! Perfect hotel for a weekend in SanFran with friends.
the renception service is needed to improve their service quality, especally the midddle aged femail recetionist, her service behavior various based on the servered customer, and has a kind of discrimination.
NOTHING, I´LL BE BACK AGAIN
GOOD, BREAKFAST EVERY DAY, COMPLETE
A lot of street noise but it didn't keep us awake.
location was close to shopping and transportation. Coffee and breakfast pastries excellent.
The hotel is old and "tired". A little paint and some new carpeting would make a huge difference.
Hotel was very convenient to Union Square and Moscone Center--and about half th nightly price of nearby hotels. Food at the bar for dinner/snacks was very good and a great value. Most options were in the $10-14 range. Fish and chips was outstanding. Chowder very good. I'd definitely stay again!
Staff and hotel experience. Reception staff didn't want bothered by guests. Breakfast in dingy next door pub was awful - paper plates, plastic cutlery and no hot food. Single glazed sash windows in city centre did not keep out any noise.
Location only - very central for SFX shopping and tourist places
The breakfast wasn't much and we couldn't figure out how to work the air conditioning.
The hotel was so quaint and beautiful. Our room had a lovely view of the streets and the free wifi was wonderful as well.
