Didn't get to experience much except casinos due to the time of year we visited. A lot of places were closed. The town in a typical tourist town, can't really see much of the history the place holds.

My husband and I love Deadwood and have made more than 20 trips in the last 10 years. Lots to do in the area including visits to different museums, hiking, ghost tours, shopping, wine tasting, great food, and gambling. There is still a lot that we have not seen and done, which keeps us making the 10 hour drive 2 times a year.

We went after a snowfall and streets weren't cleaned.
We went after a snowfall and streets weren't cleaned. Some businesses and shops were closed and the sidewalks never got shoveled and were very slippery. Everyone that we met was friendly and fun. There was a lot to do and see, next time we'll stay longer. We'll be back as soon as we can, but in the fall rather than winter.

Lots of fun things to do and see.
Lots of fun things to do and see. Reenactments going on everyday on the main strip. The local saloons were great and filled with great atmosphere! We did not have enough time to do any tours as we were only there one night but we would come back to explore. We happened to walk into an outdoor concert that was awesome! It was very easy to get around on the local bus that travels by the hotels. We went to get some coffee in the morning at the Pumphouse which was filled with beautiful locally made glass art. It is worth a quick stop!

Staff were nice especially Broadmoor.
Hotel was not very clean.
You had to go into the CASINO for breakfast - not appropriate for children.
Everyone in the casino could see you in the swimming pool - creepy experience.
Signs up everywhere in case you stole something! Nothing worth stealing.
Lobby so small.
Hotel was a good walk outside of Deadwood.

Had breakfast at the hotel inside the Franklin.
Had breakfast at the hotel inside the Franklin. Excellent food. Gambled at Mr. Wu's where they have free hotdogs, drinks and popcorn for players. We were there on a Tuesday night so the town was very quiet. Prefer to go when there are more people having fun.
The hotel was clean. It was about a mile walk into the old town historic area. The woman at check in was super friendly and helpful in answering questions. There is a trolley that runs every 30 minutes. It costs $2 each direction. It stops right outside the hotel. We did not eat at the restaurant, but it looked very popular and many hotel guests were getting take out. They give warm fresh baked cookies at check in. Yes, this hotel was great! There is a rodeo in town if that’s of interest!
1899 Inn is a beautiful old building, loads of character and definitely the best B&B we have stayed in in the USA. The property was clean, tidy, comfortable and the breakfasts truly a revelation to us from the U.K., not what we would generally eat for breakfast but absolutely delicious! The hosts could not do enough for you. I would recommend this place to stay to anyone. 5 minutes walk to the the hustle and bustle of downtown Deadwood but very quiet and comfortable.
Great location on the historic main street. The hotel as loads of intresting memorabilia . Guitars that have belonged to people like Mick Jagger, Sheryl Crow etc and even a piece of Elvis Presley hair. Plus loads of film memorabilia. Staff were very welcoming and spent some time telling us about what to see in Deadwood. The hotel also as a car park attached
We love old historic places - which is why we visited Deadwood! We were drawn to the Franklin Hotel and stayed in a suite to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Decent accommodations - but you have to understand the place is old and historic! We enjoyed dinner at Legend's which is located in the basement of the hotel.
The location is great ! (can't beat the view) Just about anywhere in Deadwood, is with- in walking distance! Everybody I came in contact with were very nice ! The food at the hotel sports bar/ lounge was very good ! If /when I'm back in Deadwood, I'll definitely be staying at this place !!!
Excellent location and parking, easy walking distance to downtown Deadwood
Deadwood itself was a great base for us to explore the Black Hills over three days
Comfy, large rooms with really good beds
Nice amenities and on site restaurants and bars
Casino on site was fun
I was surprised at the size of my room. It was more like a suite. A great value.Weird, awkward entrance but no matter.
Restaurant is the best deal in Deadwood. That unfortunately has become a complete Tourist trap downtown. Yuk
Quiet, clean and comfortable beds
The view from the deck is amazing
Boston Pizza is only a few steps away from the hotel
I don't gamble but lots of machines for those that do and free alcohol if you are gambling
A true gem in downtown Deadwood! Five star accommodations you don’t typically find in South Dakota! Absolutely gorgeous and the customer service was fantastic!!!! Highly recommend!
