free bottled water
bed too soft (too old?). sketchy neighborhood. noisy street.
The price was very good for a downtown hotel. We stayed on Sunday night so that might be a reason for the low rate.
It takes little to make a hotel appear clean. The halls, elevator, lobby needed a good vacuum. First impressions are important.
The central location (walking distance from everything in downtown). historic building renovated well. Generally helpful and friendly staff. Sufficient amenities (especially the free bottles and fountain water in the hallway).
We booked a meeting room (executive board room), for 2 conference calls planned during our visit. For some reason, from our phone conversations before our visit, I had an impression that the use of the meeting room is complementary to the visitors of the hotel. However, on the day of the meeting, we were told by the restaurant staff, who manages meeting/event venues, that the bill will be separate from the room and will cause additional cost (quite a big bill). Since our stay was priced reasonably enough, we were able to fit the bill in our budget, but we would have preferred being told the cost beforehand.
The water cooler was the coolest. Best location in the city. Will def be back.
Parking was uncomfortable. Circle the block and then give your keys to a stranger in the midst of downtown- with people of all varieties walking and lingering. The Valet needs to be more pronounced and they need to have a canopy or some paint on the streets and the attendants need to be dressed in a more unique way.
Location was very convenient for my trip and I was within walking distance for my planned itinerary.
The location was fine for us because we were there for the marathon, which starts downtown. However there is not much else to Houston's downtown (we used to live in Houston), so I would not have stayed there otherwise.
Stay away! I wish I had just paid $25 more a night to stay at the Double Tree. Would have been worth it. Absolutely tiny rooms. We "upgraded" to a "suite" (just had a kitchenette) which was still smaller than a standard room at a Hampton Inn & Suites. Not well taken care of. Bed didn't look very nicely made. Lots of scratches & bumps on the wall. In the "suite" we were given 2 full size towels, 1 hand towel, & 1 face towel - sort of felt like a joke. Here is a 1 sentence summary of the story below: The incompetent hotel staff will not stand up for you or help you out as a guest in any situation, since they failed to rectify the problem when it was clearly grounds for kicking other people out of the hotel Now, if you would like to read the details: Awful staff & overall experience. The bartenders were tending to their friends & ignoring the other guests. I had written on my booking to have a quiet room, since we were there for the marathon. On Saturday night I saw a group of young people checking in, carrying cases of beer. It was pretty clear to see they were there to party. They put them in the room NEXT TO US! at 9:45pm I could not sleep because I could hear the party & music & shouting through the paper thin walls. I called down to the front desk to ask if they could go talk to the room. They asked if I wanted to move, which infuriated me since I was there the night before, requested a quiet room, was already in bed, and they had placed the party animals next to me. They said they would talk to them but nothing quieted down. Finally at midnight when the hallway & our room started to smell like weed, I lost it. I went downstairs & they said they would take care of it.
Perfect location for the Houston Marathon.
Fantastic location walking distance to so many downtown locations. Love the bottled water fill stations!
Had to wait ten minutes idling on the street in traffic for the valet. Once we saw how they handled the car in front of us, speeding off like a sports car, we parked in a $20 overnight garage instead and walked to the hotel. Walls were very thin and we could hear nearly everything said in the adjoining room. At 2:30am we were awoken to constant honking horns and yelling. It seemed to be the valets honking four times every time they turned corners in the parking garage and then yelling to each other. We are locals and booked this hotel specifically to get a good nights sleep before a marathon and to be able to walk to the start refreshed and ready to run. Instead we were exhausted due to being up for an hour in the middle of the night. Maybe we stayed there on an off night but if this happens every night, or even just on Saturday nights, I could never recommend this hotel to a friend or client. I hope the hotel can address this with whatever/whoever causes these noises, as without it or stay would have been much better and we would have returned in the future.
They didn't have nearly enough staff; e.g., at 7PM on Saturday night, they had one person parking and pulling up cars from a garage that must have been 5 blocks away. Light bulbs missing. Porters unresponsive.
Did not like the fee of 50 dollars for late check out.had ran a marathon that morning did not Ned to rush back to the room before 12 pm.
Bre the bartender
No bath tub!
It was ok and enough for my requirements as a short stay guest.Staff were ok and helpful people but the hotel doesn't provide breakfast nor the restaurant in the ground floor is good enough.but in General I may advise to the guests with short stay visit and looking for a place in this location
Location in downtown. Friendly and accommodating staff.
A little noisy from the elevator and the city noise. Not bad, just a little noticeable.
Very safe environment. Staff was friendly
Room was small but big enough for me
Very nice accommodations, wonderful location, we were in town for the concert and were able to safely walk to and from the event. Just wish the bed was more comfortable
location bed was very comfortable and big nice bathroom
room seems much bigger on the website than it actually is a bit overpriced
Location, spacious rooms, free chilled water in the floors and coffee in the lobby.
Hotel needs an entire renevation. Wi-Fi is very weak. View from the window was awful. I could watch only the roof of neighboring building.
free printing service, helpful staff, perfect location, lots of complimentary refreshments, such as coffee, sodas, snacks, etc.
not a very good restaurant, too cold in the restaurant
Night lounge & work area in the lobby. Really cosy boutique hotel.
The rooms were comfortable but small especially for hotels in Texas. We had to upgrade our room which added to the cost.
BEWARE of hidden charges, after checkout they charged in $80 of BS. NEVER STAYING HERE AGAIN!
Tremendous location for the price. Walking distance to many restaurants and bars.
Room was very small. However, the size was just fine for the two of us and was actually cozy.
Enjoyed the hotel. Good location, friendly staff, nice bar.
Staff was great
Heating system cycling on and off was annoying
is a good hotel and cheap
