breakfast/lunch café next door was fabulous...the hotel did give us a chit for $20 covering 2 days of breakfasts for 2 which was a plus for the hotel

size of room, lack of staff availability, clutter in hallways

we liked the design of the inn...,the staff were friendly, breakfast was fine, they did all to please: passed us a fan for our room..great!...Very quiet between rooms.people respected eachother.Drive to Stowe or Burlington was a pleasure with a terrific view.Covered bridges were a treat.Town was very friendly.

The Inn opened it's 1st day when we arrived. The cleaning was being done as we checked in.../ into the 2nd day. Our room was clean(bathroom/bed) But the dusting ,/floor was not cleaned,or washed ,so we cleaned it ourselves.to feel comfortable (we didn't mention it cause the hosts cause they were kind.).

The room smelled like soap which was a nice change from all the motels I've stayed in that smell like cigarettes and stale air. The staff were available for late check in. We got a $10 credit for the Mix Cafe next door which was great for the morning.

Music from the Tavern downstairs was loud until 10pm.

It had a pub/restaurant downstairs so on a cold night it was nice to not have to step outside. Food there was really good. Also they had, on site, an excellent breakfast kitchen. Common area was very cozy.

Both our double beds had dog fur (we think) on the sheets!! They looked like they had been washed but not a pleasant discovery! Snow plows came to clear the parking lot while still dark out. Is that really necessary given it wakes everyone up and I'm a sound sleeper.

It was convenient that there was a restaurant/pub and a breakfast/lunch diner available on site...breakfast was great especially the creme brûlée !!!

Rooms were small...I reserved a room with 2 queen beds and instead got a cramped smaller room with 2 full beds...rooms need updating...would I stay again at this propert? No... But I would come back for the breakfast!!!

    On-site restaurants.

Didn't have the room size (Double instead of Queen beds) as shown on reservation. Heating inadequate.

It's pretty cut and dry really. If you want some clean sheets,at a good price, then stay at the Smugglers Notch Inn. The staff was friendly. The room was a value. The breakfast joint downstairs(great mountain-hippy waitress)was a big selling point too.

The pub in the basement was a little quiet for a Saturday night. No big deal though.

The in room Jacuzzi, nice to sink into after a long day of skiing. The staff was friendly. attached breakfast café was wonderful.

The woman who checked us in was dressed in sweats and clearly hadn't showered that day. Not cool. The bathroom needed a good scrub and updating.

No plastic or formica. Finish on harwood floors and carpet runner going up the main stairs worn down by loving use. Bill the manager was very accomodating. Restuarant staffed by warm locals. This is real VT.

Nothing. Nothing lavish but no false pretences.

The inn is located in the middle of an interesting little town center in the mountains. There is a comfortable lobby to hang out in. Attached is a pub/restaurant, and a small bakery which also serves breakfast and lunch most of the day. Lots of outdoor activities such as skiing, biking, hiking and canoeing nearby. A wonderful retreat in a quiet river valley in rural Vermont.

the breakfast place on the property is amazing - I would go back just to eat there again

housekeeping had forgotten to put towels in our room .... good thing I found out before it was too late - no one is around in the morning to assist.

The inn keeper was very fun and helpful. Loved the cozy atmosphere and charm of an old style inn. Really enjoyed the hot tub and the bakery/breakfast. There is a fun tavern just downstairs of the inn that has good beer on tap and delicious pub food! Not a far drive to the mountain with pretty views all around
