how much my body ached after trying to sleep in old bed
Location was fabulous! Hotel is on the Historic Register. The website and email message from the hotel prior to the visit were very clear about accessibility and steps. It was as expected. Easy parking.
Room was quite small.
Everything was in walking distance, the restaurant in the hotel was amazing and everyone was very friendly. We are currently planning our next trip to cape may and will be staying there again. There is also a lot of history in the hotel which was really cool to find out about.
Hotel overall was quite nice. Didn't try the restaurant because we wanted to venture out around the town. Staff was polite and helpful (and are certainly from some far and away exotic places)
The only complaint was a bit of a moldy smell in the carpet....could use a change
Staff was friendly and helpful.
Location Although an older hotel, the rooms were a decent size, bathroom small Clean Good value
Breakfast not included No coffee machines in room
Location, just across the street from the beach and 3 blocks from the heart of Cape May. Comfortable Bed. Great Value.
Keep in mind that this is an old hotel and some of its charms are old. Bathroom, tight shower stall and toilet. Water heater made some interesting noise.
Close to beach and town
so many steps
Proximity to everything .
No continental breakfast.
location clean coffee in the morning smoking allowed on the porch helpful staff
wifi was iffy
Carpet was damp and the room was humid with a mildew smell. Very disappointed, for the overall cost and will stay somewhere else on the next visit.
location, breakfast shop, bike rental, restaurant great but pricey, plenty of off street parking
access to bathroom outside of the rented room, more rockers out front, chairs in room very useless, no small table in room
The room was lovely with the romantic white netting draped around the bed and the swan towel sculpture placed sweetly on the bed. Everything was very nice and clean. I loved the close proximity to the beach. It was so relaxing to sit on the big front porch in the rocking chairs with the sound of the sea drifting in. We were really happy that our room was on the first floor, especially since there is no elevator.
The mattress was harder than we are used to sleeping on, so it took some getting used to. The air conditioner made a loud intermittent buzzing noise that woke my husband up several times each night. And he usually sleeps like a rock. It did not bother me after I got used to it though.
The location is excellent for the ocean, shops, and restaurants of Cape May.
friendly staff, lovely room
Location. Across from beach and walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Pretty property. Old but lots of character.
Room small. No place to put toiletries in bathroom. Could hear the gentleman in the adjacent room snoring and blowing his nose - right through the wall. Bed was uncomfortable and room temperature inconsistent.
Quaintness ~ European atmosphere.
No shades to block out sun light.
An old-fashioned, historic hotel that gives an idea of what Cape May was like a century ago that's across the street from the beach. Restaurant and coffee/bagel shop are in the hotel. Memory foam mattresses provide comfort and support. All staff will do their best to satisfy their guests' needs.
Not exactly a dislike, since the hotel warns guests they do not have an elevator. After a long day walking through the town, the 20 or so stairs between each floor are a bit tough on older, achy knees. But if you want a true feeling for old Cape May, you shouldn't expect an elevator anyway.
The location was terrific. The staff pleasant and the room clean.
The shower was very tiny!
The front porch was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. Staff was accommodating, switching our room on request so that we weren't next to the stairwell. Very conveniently located, close to the beach, restaurants and shops.
Would like to be able to select a specific room when booking. There are lovely photos of all the rooms, but you can't choose the one you want. They are up front about telling you there is no elevator, but they should have bellhops to assist with luggage.
Old charm of the place, which we tend to look for in a vacation spot.
Noisy AC units No place to store items in the bathroom
Stairs to claim, no elevator. Bad smell in room. Room small. Very small sink in room, not in bathroom.
The rooms were really nice and the beds were comfortable.
I wish that there was an elevator and not just stairs. It was a little hard at times to climb them but overall the stay there was great.
