Interesting building. Great location.
Pool and hot tub
no black tea as an option
Microwave and refrigerator without extra charge would have been an ideal.
They did a decent job with remodel and staff was kind. Good deal for the price.
The area in general is very run down and unkept. I was surprised by that. It's a bit of a ghost town in February
I liked the peaceful setting. Although we weren't to far from home (about an hour and a half) it felt like we were at a resort somewhere far.
The only thing I didn't like was that the hotel staff allowed kids under 14 to be unattended at the pool/jacuzzi although they had signs that said otherwise.
Overall, great stay here. Rooms were clean and modern. Decor was interesting and provided a down-to-earth feeling. Location was walking distance to a downtown area and park and very short drive to the Boardwalk.
Housekeeping came pretty early around 10am (maybe our fault for not putting a do not disturb sign the night before since we planned on sleeping in). We told the housekeeper to come back a little later. We came back to our room around 7pm and no one had been there. We called and asked for housekeeping and they said they would be right there. We left again and came back 45 minutes later but still nothing. We had to call to file a complaint before we got someone in our room to just change the sheets and take out the trash. The way they handled our situation was frustrating and not very good.
Don't get me wrong, the staff was fabulous. Very friendly and accommodating. The keurig was a nice touch. I did really like the bed because it was like a brick. I realize I am one of a few that likes an extra firm mattress though.
However, the "noise proof" claim was completely false. Sure, I couldn't hear what was going on in the rooms next door, but I could hear people in the pool area (I'm sure it was children) Screaming their heads off and splashing around first thing in the morning. That, and someone rolling luggage or perhaps the housekeeping cart along in front of the room about every 1-2 hours. Their claim of black out curtains is also false. The sun peeked right around the part of the curtain that was next to the door and illuminated the room beginning at 6am. This brings me to the bathroom door. The door is aesthetically pleasing, sure. But the point of a bathroom door is to separate what is happening in the bathroom from the rest of the room. There is NOTHING left to the imagination, soundwise or scentwise. My husband was totally embarrassed when he came back into the room and my face was buried in the covers. The alarm clock is impossible to set. There is no button that tells you how to set the time so the clock was about 5 hours fast the whole time we were there and the alarm kept going off. Housekeeping just skipped our room. We got up and went out to breakfast on Valentines day. When we left the cart was on one side of our room. When we got back about 4 hours later, the cart was on the other side of our room but our room had merely been skipped over. Also, you have to pay to park. This wouldn't be an issue if I hadn't spent over $500 to stay there for 2 nights.
Shuttle service to local destinations. Upgrades to this hotel make it very comfortable and stylish.
Loved the location, the free shuttle around Santa cruz and the staff
Staff was extremely friendly. Proximity to San Lorenzo Park and disc golf course along San Lorenzo River was cool. Very easy access (4min walk) to downtown. The pool and spa area looked rad but we had 2yr old and wanted to spare everyone. The front desk = 4ft diameter x 15ft long driftwood redwood. Awesome.
N/A. Everything was great and brand spanking new.
food bar design of remodal staff in resturan
cleaning staff did not leave shampoo and conditoner when they cleaned; front desk needs better training
The staffs willingness to accommodate me. Being upgraded upon request. The decor and styling.
The first room I was given, although it was it was decorated nicely, was slightly larger than a linen closet.
Rooms were nice
A lot of drunks on the weekend. Too noisy and too much late night BS. Walls are thin. Pillows sucked
Very comfortable, friendly staff, rained all weekend but hotel was definitely one of our highlights even though weather turned out to be a little yucky. All together very pleased with our stay, when we come back to visit family we will definitely stay here again.
Nice rooms & very convenient to town
Noisiest plumbing ever! U can hear everyone using shower & toilet.
pool was nice
I had to pay for outside uncovered parking. Breakfast not included.
Staff was beyond excellent! Very friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay a pleasure ,hotel is very clean and nicely decorated. Within 5 minute walk of downtown shopping and dining
Bed was not very comfortable for my wife, I didn't have a problem with it. It is all outside entrances, although nicely remodeled you can still see the "Holiday Inn" aspect of the building. We enjoyed it, just be aware its not a Hyatt
Style of the hotel and the friendly staff. Great restaurant. Clean stylish rooms.
Bed was a bit hard. We both woke up with back aches. We hoped the hot tub would be open later than 10pm.
Staff was super friendly and accomodating. The location couldn't have been better. We walked to Pacific for shopping and restaurants. Clean and comfortable rooms. I'd definitely stay here again!
Pool Area, Bar Staff nice
drunken people coming back late at night, use the backsider entry 5-10 times, laugh and scream and have great fun at 1.30 am.
Everything! Wonderful stay, hotel located right in the heart of town....walked to beach and downtown, park in back of hotel. We were pleasantly surprised to find a Keurig coffee maker in our room. We stayed by the pool and had a little patio with chairs. The hotel restaurant, Solaire, serves delicious food. Modern hotel with friendly atmosphere. Will definitely stay again....
Parking was a problem. The hotel has a conference center so during an event the lot is full. We had to use the valet service because there were no spots....
This is a unique, modern, sleek property--a reimagined former Holiday Inn. It's a higher-level experience, more than you would expect in this beachside tourist area of small pricey so-so motels.
It needs a deep Spring cleaning: there were minor faded stains on chairs and carpet due to prior guests. The newness of this 2-3 yr-old hotel is wearing off a bit.
That it was a very unique property. We had not stayed in a chic boutique before. They had fabulous macaroni and cheese!!!!!
I can't think of anything.
