Apa facilities. Tranquility of the rooms. View.
Perhaps the Restaurants should have some more choices of food.
When I walked in they handed me a bottle of water, they upgraded my room to a corner suite and it was beautiful. The restaurant was nice and everyone was very pleasing. The hotel was gorgeous.
There was nothing I didn't like.
great health club. good location.
rooms are a little tired. breakfast room understaffed and a bit expensive for what it is.
style of the hotel. Food in the restaurant. View.
pricing of hotel and car parking are way over the top.
Charm and old world elegance in abundance at this historic hotel. Nice amenities in one stop. Great pool. Paragon restaurant serves some good food.
The rooms need updating which is happening in the new year by Fairmont. No hot water at the sink which they discounted.
This is the perfect place to go to unwind, have some fun, and be in total comfort while doing it. The staff is beyond caring.
Two of the guests were a little snotty. ..
Musty smell in room, paid extra for bay viewroom yet room very small, TV did not work properly very bad image. Small bathroom
The decor and the amazing real Gingerbread house. The staff went above and beyond.
The resort fee and the high cost of parking.
staff was courteous and genuinely helpful and interested in us
Nice atmosphere, spaceous rooms, excellent view of San Francisco, classic lobby, salons and restaurants
Odd smell in the corridor and bedrooms Expensive parking
The reclaimed style and charm plus the exercise facilities.
Antiquated facility. Lousy AC - stuffy or freezing... Exorbitant fees for everything. Maid service bangs on door at 8am every morning. 1 bathrobe per room. Noisy because of turn of last century construction. Wish we had not wasted our money
The staff was very courteous and helpful.
Many unexpected fees. Resort Fee for sauna mandatory. Daily parking fee was never mentioned until checkout and it is very steep.
The facility was beautiful, incredible bay views, and extremely polite and attentive staff. Overall I highly recommend and would stay again. Staff is wonderful and works hard to please guests.
Had problems with shower, due to age of facility, I believe. But that's it.
Room 705 had noises coming from upstairs, where I guess the restaraunt and kitchen are. It went on all day and at night too. Noise come from hallway too. You don't expect it from a $200/300 hotel Facilities fee is mandatory but if you don't use the spa you are basically spending $26+tax on wifi
How well maintained is the hotel, it's a time capsule, very beautiful. Good food, fair price
Feels too prepy ambient, too prepotent the people as guest and as staff...
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a charming classic hotel from the days of hotel grandeur worthy of a visit with beautiful views of all of San Francisco. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable with great views out large windows. Great water pressure in the shower!
The lobby could use a coffee shop/station although there is a Starbucks about 4 blocks from the hotel. Also, the shower head is too low (about 5 feet while 7 feet or an overhead would have been much better).
The front office staff could not be more difficult to deal with, one woman in particular whom the bell man apologized for when he helped us to our room. They messed up our room reservation, and then were snotty about it, even snooty. It's an old tired hotel, not the rc! The desk clerk even went so far to lie to us about late checkout to be even more unhelpful. I won't be sending any more of my out of town guests there for sure.
The room was attractive, staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the room was expensive but very good. The handicapped access shower was comfortable and accessible, and I appreciate that.
I had a handicapped access room, but it was located very far from the entrance and lobby. Since I walk with a walker, the distance was too much for me to walk. I had to ask for a wheelchair to get to and from the room. I would have needed a wheelchair for any excursion out of the room.
30 $ parking charge is very expensive. Spa is closed at 5 pm, it is closed to early. Air conditioner very noisy.
I first saw this majestic building 35 years ago while living in Berkeley as a postdoc. I remember it from that time as a symbol of luxury and elegance, and did not anticipate that 35 years later I will see it again as a guest. The rates are on the expensive side, and one has to add parking and pool fees (both optional). But we found this well worth the money. We enjoyed the beautiful pool and gym everyday, as well as the setting. For those seeking outdoor activity, the Oakland Redwood Park is only about 15 minutes drive on Highway 13.
We had two rooms, one on the second floor and the other on the third floor. On the second floor the wi-fi signal was weak. The room on the third floor was exceptionally small with a diagonal beam over the bed. We did not like the breakfast. But all these were relatively insignificant.
The building is a classic, the rooms aren't huge but very well laid out, and the service is impeccable.
The restaurants close early and are a little pricey
Had a lovely quirky room 310 in the turret
Lot of fan noise from restaurants and swimming pool. We had to move from 332 because of this.
Needs to renovate. Pool and spa costs should be voluntary.
Employees where very polite!
Very expensive, extra fees!
