I espically liked having a message. It was excellent. I also liked this location. The size of the room is big and the beds were very comfortable.
Great location. Great view of the city.
I enjoy histroic charm, but this property is very run down. The service was inconsistent.
The food in both restaurants and the entire staff. Throughout hotel the staff was courteous and welcoming.
parking fee facilities fee all the extra fees.
View, pool and poolside services.
The steam room at the spa was broken that weekend.
The spa is the best part. The food is mediocre quality and the waiters untrained.
Had breakfast at the Meritage on Saturday morning. Our waiter was very inattentive and it took forever for our food to arrive. The people who sat down at the table next to us arrived after us. Their food arrived and they finished eating before our food arrived! Would not eat here again.
I extremely enjoyed the gentleman by the name of Alexander who checked us in. He represented your resort with a warm and inviting demeanor that unfortunately is becoming rare these days. The first point of contact is extremely important and Alexander did a wonderful job at making us feel welcomed!
Unfortunately, our room was very close to an elevator and your elevators have a loud dinging noise that is almost unbearable. It actually woke us up in the morning. I would recommend the resort tone down the elevator floor dings. Aside from this, our stay was a superb delight.
Gorgeous property, nice size room, plenty of room for my 2 teenage boys and myself. Pool area and tennis courts were lovely. Nice shops in the hotel and helpful sales people. Overall, excellent value.
- Restaurants were price-y - Front desk staff (only one woman upon arrival) was rude and unhelpful because we arrived "too early". No hello or welcome, no offer to store our luggage, use the pool, etc while we waited for our room.
Good location, close to College Avenue and quaint eateries, shopping and scores of kids with laptops in coffee shops.
Coming from India - Indian hotels where even the most basic hotels have small fridges, complimentary water - here there was none. Plus restaurants close very early
We didn't take advantage of it, but the Claremont offers childcare, they also a day camp, I would recommend asking when the camp kids are at the pool. They seem to be gone by 2:30. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay--opting to explore the local neighborhoods for many of our meals. There were 3 adults and 2 kids in our family group and we really fell in love with Berkely and the Claremont. It's both kid and business friendly, but also a romantic setting for a couple. Other than the pool, you wouldn't know there was a camp going on. It's a charming place to stay.
View, the club, room, breakfast, pool, surroundings, garden, lobby.
Spaceous rooms. Exercise possibilities and pools were nice. Charming hotel
no fridge in the room.
I like the old-school, classy feel of the hotel. Very good service too.
Love this hotel and their spa. If there also try going on a mini hike in Claremont canyon. It's beautiful. By far the best hotel in the bay area
Great neighborhood, easy walking distance to shops and restaurants, beautiful grounds. Loved the pool and was very happy to have access to the 'business center'---a few computers and a printer. The staff at Meritage, one of the restaurants, are the best!!!
They say they make a note of preferences of returning guests. That hasn't been my experience. My room requests have never been honored.
In addition to room charge by the website, upon check-in, the hotel charged daily facility usage fee, notwithstanding whether you use it or not (for pool, gym, etc) for $75 per day or so. Be aware.
Overpriced on everything
We loved the grandeur and history of the building, excellent views and facilites and an excellent room service menu - greatly appreciated by tired travellers with hungry teenage boys. We all felt that we were staying somewhere really special. Good value for money even with the resort (26$ for a 5 people is really nothing!). It must be said that the weather this side of the bay is much better than in San-Francisco and the Marin valley area. SF is a short ferry ride from Oakland which is a 15 minute drive from the Claremont.
The Paragon restaurant was very crowded and the food very basic. My daughter's children's menu was quite poor. Much better restaurants in Berkley.
We love the property and the location. It is nice to have large rooms that allow you to move around without bumping into the walls or furniture. We enjoyed the fitness facility.
It is a long walk to the room from the elevator. It would be nice to have some stairwells that allow interim access so you don't have to go all the way to the elevator/stairs just to turn around and head back to get to the fitness facility.
The View, the club, the complementary upgrade as it was our wedding night!
No co-ed steam rooms, saunas, or hot tubs
The hotel had a very classic feel
The room was small
Location was great. Unfortunately we arrived too late to enjoy the amenities
I reserved 2 rooms and had to call multiple times because someone or something kept cancelling one. The room was overpoweringly musty or moldy
View! Dining options Spa
Some parts of the facilities were dated.
