    Loved the location and the views of Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and the city, it's like a panoramic view of the city. You walk into the room and your wowed by the view! The bedding is amazing white cotton down comforters. I liked the little Kettle in the room for tea and they also had a keurig for complimentary coffee. The tonga room is a must see with live music. The concierge were very nice and helpful. This hotel is a 5 star hotel but with a casual vibe.

    There is nothing I could say that I didn't like except a little pricey, but worth it.

    Historical building with lovely lobby.

    Small bathroom, room with view over internal courtyard so no point being on top of the hill. Didn't feel like value for money, especially with tax added onto the booking fee. Fitness room mediocre.Intrusive room cleaning, started banging around from 8am.

    Decor of our room. Doorman was very personable.

    When we arrived, our room had no toilet paper. We had to call housekeeping for it. Also, our coffee mugs were never replaced after we used them and we had to call for them as well. I find that attention to little details make a difference, this hotel lacked that.

    The historic Fairmont Hotel was beyond lovely; the staff so accommodating and helpful, and the location ideal. Pricey, yes, but you get what you pay for.

    loved the location, the quality of the room and the staff. Our experience was excellent. Ate one night in the hotel restaurant, and the food was delicious. Also liked that there was a little coffee shop attached to the hotel, so I could have my morning latte! The view from our room in tower was amazing. I won’t stay anywhere else when I return to San Francisco!

    The location was very good, and the rooms were a very good size.

    As with all larger hotels we found it a little formal.

    The view was nice from the 9th floor tower. Bathroom was large and clean, the room itself was spacious enough for two people. Nicely updated.

    The price was a bit shocking. I wanted to charge my phone but had to leave it at the concierge desk.

    Lovely hotel. Loved the lobby. Beds and bedrooms very comfortable. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

    My 11 year old son was disappointed there was no pool.

    The room

    The concierge - massive queue always- whilst waiting to ask for details of where to go and what to do 1 concierge for the whole hotel as far as I could tell which was unacceptable. Secondly had to move rooms as a lot had adjoining rooms and therefore really noisy if your neighbours where very vocal ???!!!. lastly if you are at a conference at moscone conference centre although it is not far away according to the map it involved walking up 3 hills with a 90% gradient! not good ! All in all I would not recommend it for value for money. 37 dollars for a 375 mls bottle of wine in the minibar !!?? and the room phone forget it !

    location away from Union Square meant quieter area and less traffic noise. Concierge (Tom) was very friendly and helpful in making recommendations and arranging things, as was all other "front of house staff" we had contact with during our stay.

    Steep walk back up to hotel from the main thoroughfare when tired - but the pluses outweighed this !

    The cheaper restaurant closed on Sunday night with ala cart not an option at the other restaurant that night either.

    It has to be one of the best located hotels in SanFrancisco, with transport links to all the main sights. The price was heavily discounted the week we were there making it excellent value for money. A really comfortable bed. Attentive staff.

    It's a shame a hotel of this calibre doesn't have a pool

    Place is beautiful, clean and comfortable. Truly enjoyed our stay.

    Walking around the area is difficult due to steep hills.

    Excellent service. Great room which had recently been refurnished. Great facilities - restaurants / bar etc. Would definitely stay again.

    Thin walls and could hear next room.

    Location was great. It is a beautiful hotel, stunning public areas. Lovely meal in Tonga restaurant where staff were noticeably friendlier than anywhere else in the hotel.

    Rooms were not particularly clean. Very strange smell in one room. Double room was tiny. No robes in one room, requested them but they never arrived.

    Staff always very helpfull & cheerful. Facilities. Surrondings. All three cable car lines meet on the one corner at the hotel. Towncar always out the front.

    Always uphill to get home, but can use the Cable Car.

    Had a beautiful view of the city. The staff was always very attentive. Nestor brought our bags to our room when we first arrived and he made us feel very comfortable, showing us details about the room and provided information for our stay. Thank you!
