It would be nice to have more of a hot breakfast versus continental with boiled eggs and little sausages.
The hotel is an old Victorian bed & breakfast (1890s) overflowing with rich decor in the parlor, halls, and rooms. The staff will go above and beyond to make their guests happy. The rooms are comfortable (we stayed in an executive suite), which was spacious and had ample amenities, such as a fridge, microwave, desk, dressers, two televisions, privacy door between the bedroom & living room, etc. I can't vouch for the small rooms, but based on other reviews, it's likely worth it to spend the extra 30 or so a night for one of the larger rooms. It was a very quiet area next to Japantown, and a few blocks from Nobb Hill. There are cable buses on Van Ness a few blocks in the other direction that go to the wharf. The hotel offers free town car services on weekday mornings that go anywhere in the city. They also serve sherry & cookies in the early evening to enhance the Victorian ambiance.
