location was good but not that good
too small for the price
Wood in lobby/ bar area. Beautiful old building. Rooms are smallish but comfortable. We had a room with two beds and slept great. Didn't love that the sink was in the bedroom but it did help the three of us to get ready together. We were not in the room very much but enjoyed it when we did. Very quiet. Wish we could have gone to the bar.
Parking is across the street in the convention center lot. We went out at night and had to walk down the ramp to get to the street at 2am. It was quiet outside and the Inn was very close. We had no problems but I was worried. Also the sink in the bedroom was odd but not terrible. Probably not a hotel to bring kids but perfect for adults.
location (walking distance to Jack London Square and Meritt Lake in Oakland) just next to the BART station so it is convenient to go to SF too
i find the room quite tiny to be honest
Like the old world character. Good location within the city - see exceptions in con's. Parking rate reasonable. Room rate reasonable.
Our room had a 6" step just inside the door. While we had to initial acknowledgement of the step on the registration form it did not prepare us for the difficulty of negotiating the step - no demarkation on carpet - no handrails or lights - we tripped twice on it. Website did not mention parking was in Convention Center - somewhat inconvenient. Activities at Convention Center (police) crowded street in front and made access difficult and street very noisy. Continental breakfast was quite limited and little seating and no tables available.
Size of room for price. HORRIBLE
I stayed here as I was taking my bar exam at the convention center, so the location was perfect.
The hotel really needs to be updated!!
Very close to bart, and close to down town Oakland China town and Jack London square. Continental breakfast was great in morning. Hotel staff very courteous and helpful.
The bed was too low and also the pub next door was loud. Upgrade need on the television and better selection of channels.
Cute rooms, free continental breakfast
Nice lobby Friendly staff
Noisy ventilation in rooms Floor in rooms was not clean
Love the old time charm of the place. In a good location clean room friendly people.
I don't like paying for parking but the lot seemed safe The elevator has a mind of its own
Great location, historic building, scary - but fun elevator
Parking fees, complimentary breakfast.
The hotel was close to the public transportation. We ate at a nearby Irish pub.
Location. Easy to get on the Bart to San Francisco. Quaint, older hotel, interesting room, newly remodeled bathroom. Good restaurants in area. Great value for the rate.
The elevator, old, small and needs refurbishing.
The elevator need to be X adjusted.
Staff really varied. Some okay, some not. Breakfast was not good. Room small, but okay.
location architecture large lobby
unfriedly staff on the verge of rude poor breakfast, no tables, eating off of one's lap might have been bitten by bedbugs
The hotel is unique, the breakfast was nice to have coffee without running out. The location is near Jack London Square lots to do down there. And it's also in downtown area. I look forward to staying again next year.
great value/location. convenient to the 12th St BART station for travel around the bay. staff was friendly and helpful. breakfast was adequate.
some noise from the street. elevator is a bit old/smelly/creaky.
Cute quaint room, very comfortable bed and linen. Breakfast was a great perk. Location in downtown Oakland is phenomenal.
A little expensive when considering the amount of space you receive, outdated appliances and the bathroom windows are reinforced with duck tape.
Lovely location and friendly staff. Beautiful surroundings.
A bit small, breakfast simple.
A perfect combination of old & new. It had historic charm but all the comforts of a great hotel.
Value paid was great. It feels like being at home, private bathroom, early 1930's style but with modern commodities like air conditioning. Crossing the bay in the San Francisco area you get only nasty places for the same price. BART subway is just 3.35 per ride to downtown.
close to Oakland downtown and easy access to San Francisco.
None of the staff was friendly. The internet signal was very week and cuts off frequently.
There was a serious noise issue that lasted until after 3:30AM. I called the front desk more than once to help make them aware and ask them to please resolve the issue. I booked a weekend and only stayed that 1 night. I moved hotels the following day. I would like to point out that the manager was not in but did make sure to be handle this in a professional and timely manner, which I appreciated.
