I stayed here as I was taking my bar exam at the convention center, so the location was perfect.
The hotel really needs to be updated!!
Cute rooms, free continental breakfast
Nice lobby Friendly staff
Noisy ventilation in rooms Floor in rooms was not clean
Love the old time charm of the place. In a good location clean room friendly people.
I don't like paying for parking but the lot seemed safe The elevator has a mind of its own
Great location, historic building, scary - but fun elevator
Parking fees, complimentary breakfast.
The hotel was close to the public transportation. We ate at a nearby Irish pub.
Location. Easy to get on the Bart to San Francisco. Quaint, older hotel, interesting room, newly remodeled bathroom. Good restaurants in area. Great value for the rate.
The elevator, old, small and needs refurbishing.
The elevator need to be X adjusted.
Staff really varied. Some okay, some not. Breakfast was not good. Room small, but okay.
location architecture large lobby
unfriedly staff on the verge of rude poor breakfast, no tables, eating off of one's lap might have been bitten by bedbugs
The hotel is unique, the breakfast was nice to have coffee without running out. The location is near Jack London Square lots to do down there. And it's also in downtown area. I look forward to staying again next year.
great value/location. convenient to the 12th St BART station for travel around the bay. staff was friendly and helpful. breakfast was adequate.
some noise from the street. elevator is a bit old/smelly/creaky.
Cute quaint room, very comfortable bed and linen. Breakfast was a great perk. Location in downtown Oakland is phenomenal.
A little expensive when considering the amount of space you receive, outdated appliances and the bathroom windows are reinforced with duck tape.
Lovely location and friendly staff. Beautiful surroundings.
A bit small, breakfast simple.
A perfect combination of old & new. It had historic charm but all the comforts of a great hotel.
Value paid was great. It feels like being at home, private bathroom, early 1930's style but with modern commodities like air conditioning. Crossing the bay in the San Francisco area you get only nasty places for the same price. BART subway is just 3.35 per ride to downtown.
close to Oakland downtown and easy access to San Francisco.
None of the staff was friendly. The internet signal was very week and cuts off frequently.
There was a serious noise issue that lasted until after 3:30AM. I called the front desk more than once to help make them aware and ask them to please resolve the issue. I booked a weekend and only stayed that 1 night. I moved hotels the following day. I would like to point out that the manager was not in but did make sure to be handle this in a professional and timely manner, which I appreciated.
Friendly staff and nice historical feel to it. Great location near BART and a good price for location. Quirky friendly place.
Bathroom a little bit dingy and elevator not always working right.
Good location. Reasonable rates. Access to reasonably priced parking. Nice comfortable rooms.
Room was comfortable and quiet. Excellent location close to BART and freeways, without getting noise from same. Various eateries within close walking distance. Friendly staff made me feel welcome.
The TV was small and had poor reception.
Very friendly staff; period architecture; pleasant and unpretentious ambience
Value. It was a good hotel for the money--especially given the other options in the area.
Breakfast was limited, as was the restaurant/room service--I was glad for the grocery store next door.
Staff were accomodating and the room was well appointed and comfortable. The location was excellent being very close (walking distance) to 12th street BART and Jack London Square station (for rail intercity trips).
The breakfasts were all on the sweent tooth side (coffee, tea, muffins, croissants), but good if you like that. Each evening (about 10-11pm) it was a meeting place for a chorus of homeless, and in the morning the trucks would be unloading fot the shop next door (about 5-6am). This can be an issue for light sleepers
