Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe shower had "issues" in maintaining temperature and volume. There is construction and closed stores adjacent but only affects when jackhammering before 8am...only one morning.
The hotel is a good value for location. Nearby to many transportation offers and restaurants only two to three blocks away (breakfast.) Rooms are small but functional. Everything worked and was nice and clean. Nice to have a desk and an AC controlled by the traveler. A big plus is the large storage area for luggage. Thanks to the staff for holding the luggage.

The location was very good. Parking underground nearby was nice to have. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Right next to a university. Restaurants nearby. Coffee and vending machines in lobby.

United States of AmericaShower didn't have glass or a curtain - so water is pretty much everywhere. Generally this hotel is pretty basic, not much of a lobby even or other amenities. Though I didn't have too many specific complaints - it definitely does the job of staying in the center of Montreal.
The location is amazing, close to the most central metro station, close to a lot of restaurants etc. Walkable to down town and other tourist areas, or a short ride on metro or bus. WiFi works well. Staff was helpful.

CanadaThe negative part is about what happened to me before my stay, while interacting with the hotel staff via Booking.com and the chat. I received a message from the hotel in the Booking app 3 days before my stay to ask me to confirm my credit card information because they couldn’t successfully verify it. I followed the link and tried 2 of my cards which both failed. I told them that I couldn’t submit anything and that my card should be valid. They replied that they actually never sent that message asking for my banking info and that they believed a hacker was in their system… period??! I immediately blocked my 2 cards (very annoying while travelling). But they did not seem to be worried at all to communicate to their clients that a hacker has been sending messages and that their clients might be at risk and should check their cards for fraudulent activity. That for me is something that is very negative because it is a big deal and they should take action and warn their clients!
The hotel is located in a nice area and close to the old port and the shopping strip downtown. The room was fine although a bit dated which is normal for Montreal.

United KingdomArea surrounding is not great at night which is not the hotels fault. Still great value.
We had the 2 queen bed room which was great and spacious. This room also had a sofa which was great. Loved that you had a separate toilet and bathroom. The hidden gem is the basement - like a cave. Table and chairs and a pool table and books provided. The coffee machine for $1 provided great coffee.

AustriaSometimes the shower pressure would fluctuate between okay and very low and the temperature would change from warm to cold as well. My fridge made noises that felt like having a tinnitus - I solved this issue by setting the temperature to very cold when I left my room so that I could turn it up again once I got back in order for the fridge not to turn on for the next couple of hours. You can also hear other hotel guest when they walk past your room (I have experienced way worse though).
The hotel is centrally located. The staff is friendly and I was able to check in at half past 10, which was amazing. There were mugs glasses and a coffee maschine in the room. Everything was super clean.

United KingdomHotel St Denis was in a great location, just metres away from the nearest subway, a short walk from the Old Town. Very comfortable beds and being 3 single adults from the same family - it was great to have twin small double beds + a double sofa bed which, we couldn't find anywhere else within our budget. The room was big - maybe not the most modern but perfectly fine for our 3 day visit to Montreal.

CanadaThe washroom could be updated a little bit and come new paint wouldn't hurt, but if you just want a place to sleep after a long day of exploring this is a great spot.
It was very close to the metro to get to the lasso festival and close to old Montreal. The bed was very comfortable as well! Great value overall.

CanadaThe toilet needs to be fixed, it wobbles. The shower needs a curtain or door as the floor gets soaked when you shower.
Location is great, staff are friendly, price is pretty good, and the room is good size with 3 double beds in it. I like that the shower is separate room from the toilet to allow multiple use.

United States of AmericaThe AC window unit was struggling to hit 16c which is the lowest setting. I kept it on that setting full fan and it took hours to get cool enough to sleep. And as soon as I walk into the room, as I do with all hotel rooms, I turn the cool level low. There are few amenities except for my beloved coffee which was available for $1.00 Canadian in the lobby area or 2 Kurig cups in the room.
I love the 1920 old world environment. It's nice to experience culture and the past. The place was as expected "old" but maintained well. If you want the "I visited Grandmas house" feeling cozy and safe, this is your place.
