Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Nothing other than renovation works across the road were noisy.
Jose Luis was very welcoming and his communication was great throughout. Great location in the old town, comfy bed, good shower, everything that was needed for a short stay.

It's a noisy location because it's in the city center, the apartment shows the age, it's part of a building with multiple apartments all the same , the one that I received had some esthetic problems but it depends on your sensitivity. The bad part for me was the bed, very soft mattress I don't like soft beds .
The personal was friendly and helpful, the location of the apartment is ok, in the city center

Bathroom celling is a bit moldy.
Perfect location, just a few minutes walk to the mercado or beach or Santa Cruz Quarter. The apartment is fully equiped.

Everything was perfect. From the very beginning, great contact with the host, we were instructed how to get to the apartment, we also received a full list of all attractions and places worth to see, everything was close: the beach, Santa Barbara Castle, Santa Cruz district. It is worth emphasizing that the beds in the apartment were surprisingly comfortable! We were there during the week, so there was no noise from outside. Alicante itself is wonderful, amazing Spanish food, wine, colorful places. I highly recommend to visit Alicante and stay at Jose Luis place.

The apartment was noisy until 11 pm, sounds were coming in from other apartments and street. I went with my 1 year old baby and so that wasn't ideal for us.
The host was extremely helpful and friendly. Cosy rooms and comfortable bed.

Not a lot of natural light, but that wasn't an issue for us. Had to pay in cash, which was not a problem but just a heads up for those for whom it might be.
Jose was very communicative. The place itself was comfortable and really good value for the price. I would recommend it. Good wifi too. Spacious. Heat pump worked well.

Not the easiest place to find, but owner very helpful, friendly and easy to communicate with.
Great location in the old town. Very central and close to bars, restaurants etc. A comfortable walk to the beach!

Dont expect miracles. Apartment is maybe better, but studio need imporovements. For one or two nights OK.

It’s a busy area so noise was to be expected, only on Saturday though.
The location was amazing, walking distance to restaurants, bars and the Tram. The apartment was very comfortable.

Bad matrasses jn the bed, we got backache every morning. Noise until 3 / 4 in the morning on friday and saturday from the pub on the corner, not good for people with light sleep.
We got cot, child seat and mixer for free for our baby. Great location, good communication with the owner.

The wheelchair accessibility was the only problem for us. Everything else was nice.
It was very well located. At nights it could get loud but that’s the trade off for being in the city Center. The beach was close by and a lot of nice places to it. Pepe was an amazing host. The only thing in our case was the wheelchair accessibility of the bathroom. For my husband it was quite uncomfortable to get into the shower or toilet. I wouldn’t recommend it for wheelchair users.

WiFi not great. Had to reconnect each time we came back to apartment. Shower is a bit small. No shampoo or shower gel provided. Due to location in old part of town and on ground floor there is a lack of sunlight.
Great location for castle, shops and beach. Only 5 mins walk to beach and shops. Comfy bed. Host lives upstairs and is easy to contact. Speaks English. Kitchen facilities good for a short stay. Good A/C.
