Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Room was sparsely decorated, and heaters, and room facilities needed upgrading.
Short ride from the motorway and Calais. Fresh air and relaxed rural surroundings. Great restaurant and breakfast.

Lack of shower curtain.
Beautiful room with stunning view of the gardens. Lovely bathroom but no shower curtain which would have been useful. We had a lovely stay. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent.

Lack of choice for dinner, a little on the dear side and for the wine silly prices...

Bath was difficult to get in/out of, and the towels were stored in a hard to reach spot. Didn't like the automatic lights in the hallway as it meant the stairs were sometimes dark.
Beautiful château, exactly what we hoped for. Food was excellent, especially in the evening. Quiet and comfortable night's sleep. All the staff were very friendly and tolerated our poor grasp of the French language admirably.

Some rooms are tired and in need of decoration, our favourite rooms are the standalone bungalows.
Restaurant is resonable value and have enjoyed the two meals I had over different visits, staff are pleasant and attentive. Reception staff are frendly and helpful.

Breakfast was very nice but the poor lady needed extra help
The room in the annexe was comfortable & clean with a spacious bathroom & walk-in shower - ideal for visitors with mobility issues

The biggest issue was absolutely nothing in the room to make tea or coffee, no minibar just one small bottle of water. Food in the restaurant was below expectations but quite good value,

It was a shame our room wasn't in the actual chateau, but in the stable block. Although the room was large, it was dated, and the armchair covers were particularly grubby, we didn't sit in them. Overall we left there feeling disappointed about our stay.
The Chateau itself was beautiful, lovely gardens & a nice restaurant. We had a big room.

No coffee making facilities in the room, though the hotel were happy to give me cups and hot water. I felt very sorry for the one lady we saw working; she did the bar and seemed to do breakfast service by herself. She was lovely but I did feel she was over worked. The shower needs a curtain to stop the water going everywhere.
It's a beautiful chateau. We stayed in a cottage room and that was dinner.

A couple of the staff were rude to anyone who wasn't french. The guests this venue attracted seemed to be older french residents who were a little unwelcoming. The pet friendly accommodation is in an out building which needs attention.
The building is beautiful! Dog friendly with grounds to walk.

The food was excellent. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and it was absolutely delicious. The room was clean and comfortable albeit a bit outdated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. And the location was good and not far from Boulogne-sur-Mer.

Unfortunately our bathroom didn't have a shower, just a bath. It was ok!
Location was great as was the 24hr reception. We used the chateau as a stop over on our drive from England to Bordeaux so really handy being close to the route and having reception open late.

We searched Booking . Com on the basis of a restaurant, but booking.com did not state that the restaurant was shut on the night we stayed ( hotel website did but we didn’t look at this until after we had booked).
Great location just off motorway ( far enough away as no noise), lovely building.
