Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Clean and close the location to where I needed to go.
I need to contact them to let them know my arrival time. However, they never answer the phone. I tried and tried for 3 days from 9-5pm. No one answered. So, I emailed them, but I am not sure if they have received or not as I did not received any emails from them.

Really small bed for a couple, my partner is 2 m tall and couldn’t fit comfortably. Plus the mattress had springs in it, not the world´s comfiest thing to sleep on, but for a few days it was ok. The cleaning standards could also be better, we found some black hairs on our pillows and on the towels we very provided with, but otherwise it was clean.
The location was great, super nice staff and it was very quiet accommodation.

The room need a little maintenance work but generally good.
The property is clean and tidy with the essentials available. Clean towels, bathroom toiletries and tea/coffee amenities in the room. It’s self service so you get for what you pay for

The light above the mirror in the bathroom did not work. The ball chain on the window blind was not working. There was a TV in the room but it did not work. This was quite disappointing. I did not see any staff members.
The room was quiet and the bed was sufficiently comfortable.

It would have been useful to have a list of breakfast places in the near vicinity, especially for Sunday morning. The low-energy bulbs made the room a little dim, but really that wasn't a problem.
The room was very clean, a good temperature, and the bed was comfortable. It was all I needed it to be.

First night there wasn’t any coffee so not happy husband 😜 but other then that a good guest house to spend three nights in Edinburgh
Bus stop was just outside to take us to town so very good. Coffee and tea in the bedroom always great for a in a rainy day 😃 we can see Arthur Seat by the window

Staff were not there when we checked in, so had to contact them via phone to get the key, but managed to get let in relatively easily.
Guest house was lovely for the price paid, very spacious room with lovely decor and gorgeous bay window. Bathroom facilities were great, though didn't use the shower so cant review that. Close to a bus stop that gets you to the city centre quickly despite being situated in a quieter area outside the main city. Check in and out was quite easy.

The shower didn't work very well. The pressure was low and it was changing from too cold to too hot.
Staff made me feel welcome, good and nice location, both the hallways and the room were clean, cozy and pretty. The room was warm, bed was good and view from the window was nice. Overall a very cute and cozy guest house.

It was absolutely boiling as soon as ypu walked into the house to the point it knocked us sick - even turning our radiator down we were still too hot as we were top floor. Also, I wasn't made aware that there would be construction being done so when pulling up it looked bit messy and was concerned. The TV wouldn't work either but luckily we had taken games to entertain my 9 year old.

Although we didn't see any staff, the owner did send a message before check-in about the property, e.g. where to find parking info, which was very helpful. Also the coffee and biscuits were restocked each day.
