Access from the outdoor seating at the back of the hotel... you have to walk all the way round to the front to get back in. No City map available at reception. Limited wine selection.

Upon arrival, some sort of event was happening at the country park & the road was almost completely impassable, taking roughly half an hour to travel down to the hotel. The room, although completely suitable, could have done with a few extra touches. There were no protectors on any of the bedding & all the pillowcases had stains or marks on them. Though I expect it's for allergy reasons (& of course, very subjective), I could have done with an option for a different type of pillow as they were quite uncomfortable. I was joined at the hotel by many others travelling for the same reason & we joined forces for dinner. Admittedly, we only booked a small table but did advise of more people arriving. Though the hotel & restaurant were very quiet during our stay, we did get the feeling the restaurant staff were a bit put out by us being there. The food itself, though edible enough, was quite small in portions for quite a high price.

This hotel was perfectly situated for my trip to the National Motorsport Academy down the road after travelling several hours from the South. It looked lovely & the surroundings were great for a walk. The room itself was very big & the bath perfectly situated to watch a movie from the bedroom tv!! The hotel staff were welcoming & friendly too.

Unfortunately returned back from being out for dinner and wanted to have a drink at the bar. We were able to have a drink but weren’t able to order a cocktail as there was no bar tender and the waitress wasn’t able to do it.

The property is very elegant and furnished well. The room we had was spacious and had been cleaned again whilst we were out the first day. Very peaceful and calm location

My only niggle would be the cups. The only time I want a cup for my tea is if I have a teapot to go with it. There need to be mugs in the room rather than cups please. :)

Our greeting on arrival from the lady at reception was warm and friendly. Our room was spacious and clean, the décor suited the age of the hall. The radiators warmed up the room quickly. The bathroom was also spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. The setting is very pretty and it is right beside the country park and racecourse.

The only negative point I have is that as it’s a grade 2 listed building, there was no lifts available ( which is understandable) due to this and one of us suffering with MS we requested a first floor room , which was confirmed by email that this would be done, however , unfortunately, this was not the case and she had to get up 2 flight of stairs to their room which was not effective to someone with MS.

We really enjoyed our stay , everything was on point and certainly good value for money , will definitely be coming back soon !

Our room was very small with a tiny window and a view of a wall. Not what I expected and not really worth the money for that particular room. I actually thought it was for a single person as only had 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel provided.

I’ve stayed before and love the property and staff are really nice too.

Being an old building it tired easily. The windows are obviously listed but they are mouldy and could be looked after better. Main moan was that there was no shower gel which at £180 per room we would consider a norm.

The hotel lacks 'cosiness'. In the room, the bar and the restaurant, it all needs to be a bit 'softer'. For example, some sofas in the bar would be nice.

It's a lovely looking building as you approach, very grand. The receptionist was super nice and very helpful. I had an enormous room! The dining area was nice too.
