Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

We've seen the full, overflowing rubbish bins under the window of our room...we got what we paid for...view of the service yard with loud air conditioning units. Fortunately, I slept with ear plugs but it was impossible to watch tv because of the constant noise. There were some embarrassing moments as well but that's due to the old water and pipe system.
The location is just perfect and close to local bus and underground stations. Paddington is just a short walk away. We opted for breakfast at booking and what a great idea it was. We had a lovely breakfast every morning (a large selection of continental and English breakfast). Our room was always clean with fresh bedding and towels every day. I would like to thank everything for Ano and Olga and all the other friendly staff at reception.

The size of the room could have been a little bigger
The room was clean, with everything that I required. The fridge was an added bonus. The size of the room was smaller than expected with the upgrade, but it was fine.

We found the hotels location ideal for or needs, close to the subway and just across the road from hyde park. Staff friendly and very accommodating. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice. We found our room clean and comfortable. Would return and recommend to others.

The size of the shower in our room.. it was too small
Friendly and helpful staff,. The location is so near all available transport,. buses taxi ,underground tube,, Paddington station is a five minute walk away,.kenington park is a cross the road, restaurants shops and cafe nearby....

Bar area was a bit small and could modernize it a little. But other than that, it was good.

The room was exceptionally dated and dark. The small details were missing.
We loved the location and the beautiful views of Hyde Park from the front of the restaurant. Very close to public transport which was perfect for us. The layout of the family room allowed for privacy for 11 year old whilst still sharing. Staff were very friendly and polite.

Being told that there is an extra charge if you want fried eggs with your cooked breakfast instead of the scrambled eggs in the buffet. A service charge made at the bar when buying drinks. The pub next door enjoyed our custom for the rest of our stay. Penny pinching on both counts.
Location was excellent and easy to get to. Underground Station nearby and bus stops outside hotel.

Would have appeeciated some fresh vegetable choices, like cucumber, bell pepper etc. for breakfast.
Friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was nice, but could have had some more options. Room was a bit small, but clean and tidy.

The shower in the bathroom.. turns the bathroom into a lake for a bit! Not the end of the world but a better way for the water to disperse might help.
Excellent hotel. Very helpful staff including bar staff who helped with service for food to go to our room. Ideal location for London travelling and Hyde Park on your doorstep. Breakfast was excellent. Lots of choice. Cooked breakfast was great. Only negative was the coffee. Could’ve been a bit warmer from the machine.

Room was small but its London and we weren't there for the room. You get what you pay for and it was a lot cheaper than most in London. we Didn't eat there so can't comment on food
The location is great, just opposite Hyde Park and very close to Lancaster Gate Underground station. Lots of pubs and cafes nearby and its relatively quiet despite being close to Paddington station.

The first night we were there the water heater wasn’t working, but got fixed the same night so no issues. Hotel itself is quite old and the room was smaller than I expected.
