Pleasant, friendly atmosphere in bar/restaurant. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was of a very high standard. I ate in both nights.

We were a little disappointed with our room. The bathroom was small and a bit tired. The shower particularly. It had black mould around the sealant & grouting.

Breakfast was really good, plenty of choice. The layout of the restaurant/bar was welcoming and comfortable.

Our room was on the small side and quite dark. We ate one evening, the food was well cooked, I ordered Chicken Supreme from the special board, it was a really small portion and didn't represent value for money.

Bar and staff, including breakfast, were really good. Our room was clean and warm.

We like small hotels. This one has 23 rooms and suited us perfectly. The staff are the main asset of this hotel. All were friendly and welcoming; always a smile and a greeting. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was plentiful, and the choice was varied. Hot food was cooked to order, not buffet.

Breakfast was good but would prefer bacon a bit more done and the sausages were a bit too strong in flavour would prefer a plain pork sausage. The croissants were tiny could do with average size ones.

Location was perfect. Facilities at the hotel were good such as free parking, free Wi-Fi, rooms were really clean. Staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was good but just a few personal changes needed. See below. Would stay again.

Only complaint I have is at breakfast I asked for a poached egg with my breakfast, unfortunately there had been a tad too much vinegar in the poaching water. It was a very unpleasant taste which lingered. I informed the staff, who very promptly went to tell the chef so no one else had the same experience.

Room was nice and clean. From the images on website make you think the hotel is on the outskirts of the town, when in fact it’s in a residential area.

The hotel is dog friendly However, on our first night, in our room 10, we had a couple who had two dogs They decided to leave the dogs in the room while they went to the restaurant For two hours, the dogs howled and barked, not stop !! Not the inns fault more annoyed with the dog owners

A small point, but important to women in particular; there was no mirror close to a socket for the hair dryer ( room 17). It would be useful too to have to coat hooks in the wall space between the door frame and corner wall, enabling wet coats to be hung up outside the wardrobe.

Not sure there is anything - we really liked the hotel and the cosy vibe.

The Hotel was lovely, good parking and only 5minutes walk to the river. We booked a family room - which was a good size and equipped with a comfortable double bed and a proper single bed for our daughter (its great to have a proper bed rather than a sofa bed). Additionally we had our dog with us - who was made very welcome in virtually all areas of the hotel. The staff at the hotel were particularly stand out - they were polite, friendly, helpful and very approachable.

Limited menu especially for vegetarian. Menu was the same and very limited lunch menu for vegetarian. Food was fair, not great.

The room was very spacious and clean. We stayed for 3 days and every day the breakfast was very excellent.

Breakfast was excellent, however it was a little chaotic at times with items on the buffet running out. For the price I don't expect to make my own tea and toast and order at the bar but the quality of the ingredients for the full English was very good and cooked well. Room was a little small for the price and lacked somewhere to dry a towel which is needed for a two night stay. No water in the room which we had to buy from the bar.

Breakfast was excellent to eat as was the meal in the bar. Good real ale and the staff were good at check in and in the evening. Room was clean.

Lovely place not far from the centre of Durham. Rooms are small but well equipped. Super friendly & helpful staff. Dog friendly with dogs being allowed in certain parts of the bar so they can be with you while you eat. Dinner & breakfast food to order was good.
